Subject: Heartfelt Concerns Regarding Recent Experience at Sugar Glider Ward

Dear Hospital Management,

I am writing to share my deeply disheartening experience during my newborn triplets' stay at the Sugar Glider ward. The lack of empathy, understanding, and support from the Head of Nurse Incharge and Manager staff has left me feeling distressed and emotionally drained.

I implore you to thoroughly investigate these matters and take the necessary steps to rectify the situation. As a parent of newborn triplets, vulnerability defines our situation, and the compassionate care I anticipated was sorely lacking.

I hope for improvements in the future, ensuring that no other family has to endure such distressing treatment during their time at your hospital.

Sincerely,

Riya

Took my daughter to ED who had fractured her leg a few months ago. Staff were efficient, friendly helpful and professional. Wait time was kept to a minimum. Keep up the good work RCH.

Asian nurse was so racist, her name's Michelle.

She spoke to me like one of kids telling me off about my mask & asked me why I'm wearing the clothes I was wearing and told me to get out the room while my son wanted me there with him during a check up.

So rude, I tried telling the Supervisor there, not sure if they did anything either.

Had the triage dr say she czn get up on a bed so shes fine.

To then vietual ED tell us to go straight back as RCH should have done ultra sound and bloods.

Ended up goinf back and the next triage Dr forcefully looked down my 9 year.old childs top and her breasts while asking if she was going through pubity!
This is basically SA and should have serious consequences.

Not okay.
Parents were in the room and answered the question asked.

We were there for suspected appendicitis!
She has not gone through enough pubity for ovarian torsion to be considered.

Is just me or there is something wrong with the hospital system here, the only thing you can do is just wait, wait and wait. Ok i can wait, but the children cant wait. The earlier they get treatment, the better for them. My daughter got a very severe multiple chalazion on her eyelid which annoy her a lot, she cant see clear and scratch her eye all the time, besise she is autistic and non verbal she cant express how discomfortable she has gone through and just crying alot which make me very stressful.
I have been waited for 2 years to see a doctor here which is on june this year (ur: 1676276) And you know what, the appointment just is very quickly in 15 minute and i was told keep waiting for 2 years to got surgery if i want.my english is limited so that the doctors seemed that they did not want to spend time with me more, also i could not express how urgent my daughter need to get surgery as soon as possible. I was very disapointed with that but cant do anything except waiting. Recently there are more clump appear on her lower eyelid as well which make her have more tantrum and meltdown as well as make me more stress. I wish the hospital could consider my daughter case and process her surgery as soon as they can so that she can go school with happy mood. If i can i will go to private clinic BUT i cant afford for it cause my family is very low income.

My child went here for problems with her health, but one of the nurses seems to invalidate my childs condition by saying they were fine when they were saying that they're a little lightheaded and such, but it's a fine facility, i do have to warn you waiting times in emergency room can be very hectic, but i would recommend going to a gp first than going here

A world-class, leading hospital that is sadly plagued with severe waiting times and staff shortages. I have had to wait many hours to be accepted into (for a start) the observation area, but I understand the shortages faced.

The staff (every one of them) is so kind and nice making days better in hospital.

Keep up the work fellow RCH staff!

Yk what the aipu here is probably the best one I've been to, HOWEVER the nurses were still a big problem even though I was only admitted to the banksia word (the aipu) for a little over 24 hours before being transferred the nurses still managed to deadname me and misgender me as well as forcing me to eat when I didnt want to

Terrible experience. Within a month second visit for my 19 month old son. My child has been sick with Viral infection and first time discharged without conducting proper test and by saying kid is hydrated enough, second time situation gone worst and not even many patients in the triage, one of the staff mentioned it will take an hour whereas the other staff said 6-7 hours wait after our 5 hour wait already. Poor Service

There is a tendency to discount, ignore and omit fathers input when it comes to the care of their children. Very surprised at this noticeable culture. Sometimes aggressive, other times dismissive. I am a great dad with a child with a disability. I find it terrible to be faced with such gender bias in such an amazing hospital. Quite sad.

We are lucky to have a first class hospital, this morning I took my 15 year old son to the gastroenterologist clinic.he had a morning appointment, we arrived right on our appointment time, before I could take a seat, we were called in by the doctor, he was very though and explained in great detail, our concerns, very impressive I must say.

Waiting 5 hours for a Doctor to see my sick child who's getting sicker by the hour. Emergency dept is far from inundated. This issue reflects poorly on Victoria's Health System.

Waited 6 hours to be told they don’t know how much longer my daughter will need to wait who was complaining about her heart!

World class facilities, super friendly staff. Always clean and tidy and sophisticated looking. Fun for kids, as should be. A bit too harsh on visitor restrictions. I feel there should be some leniency based on individual circumstances. Quite a bit of wait time sometimes despite having an appointment. The doctors don’t usually provide timely updates on care, to parent, if the child is in out of home care. Parents need to have all prompt information reg their child’s health irrespective of whose care they are in.

We’ve had two emergency room visits here. Both times the nurses were so efficient at triage and we felt taken care of and listened to. The doctors and surgeons we worked with here had incredible bedside manner and followed up with us in the following days. Thank you!

7 hour wait time! Seriously!

Not enought doctors!

Emergency looks like a scene from a trauma Unit due to a apocalypse!

Something has to be reorganised or restructured in the way this placed is managed.

Not enough funding? Cut backs? Lack of government support? What's going on people?
