The Pancake Parlour Southland

Not a great experience. The head waitress/manager lost her cool at the table next to us as they left due to poor service (so they said). They asked her to act professionally, which seemed to frazzle the manager. Unfortunately it would seem that we were caught in the cross-fire of this as she rushed around clearing tables around us (me and my 6y.o. Boy) and forgot to take our order.for 25mins. We were seated at 7.42pm and my boy said let's go somewhere else at 8.07pm, so we left without ordering and with empty stomachs. Pretty poor night, I'd say, which is unfortunate, as we are regulars.
P. S. It was my birthday treat from my boy too so even more disappointing. 5/1/24.

Food was nice, but really expensive for what you get. And add-ons are ridiculously priced. And add to that, on a Saturday night we were hit with a 10% ‘Weekend Surcharge’ … and plus an EFT surcharge.
Don’t think I’d go back. All the extra charges got under my skin!

Should be called steak parlour. Was genuinely bowled over with how good it was. I feel like I may have missed something if this is common knowledge but if they can keep that up then I’ll be back for more.

I should have taken a photo but once I cut into it I couldn’t stop haha.

Food served efficiently and timely. Great for families, had our own booth and ample space for prams.

I think I might be in for a bit of a bill shock though.

A beautiful atmosphere, near parking space. Great outing after watching a movie, great with family and kids.

Food was nice here, but I'm not sure about the 'not a 45 minute wait'. Thanks to the young blonde girl who served us and received my feedback on how our food took 'almost' 45 minutes.but corrected me and said it cannot be that long and the kitchen is busy, and today was Sunday and.and.so one star cause the food was great, but then again, for the price you're, I think the wait and attitude can be improved

Food ia alright, it is super expensive though & not good value for money. Easily $50 a head with a main & 2 drinks

Waited to be seated at a table that was reserved for us. Then put on a table and forgotten about. Food was enjoyable. Plates were not taken away. 10% surcharge on cash payment on a Friday. Underwhelming experience.

I've always liked the food but they have changed their toilets to unisex toilets. I did not feel safe opening the door to the toilets, being followed in by a man. And certainly would not feel safe sending children to a unisex toilet. I heard a mother trying to explain to her daughters why there was a man waiting with them to use the cubicle.

We went here for Dinner then some short stacks for dessert. I must say the incorporation of ‘pancakes’ into every meal…. Doesn’t really work…. I got the chicken Parma and it came out soggy, whilst the salad was at least a day old. The dessert pancakes however always hit the spot!

I would recommend to only go for some dessert and a drink! Otherwise you will be paying for overpriced frozen food.

Not a great experience.we had to pick a second choice as fish was out of stock. I had the mexican beef crepe which was cold and extremely over cooked.the other meal was chicken snitzel which was fine but had limp salad and potato chunk chips that were not freshly cooked but had been pre cooked and heated in microwave.we opted for a desert to at least make up for the main meal but the 2 deserts were served 10 minutes apart so one person watched the other eat waiting for the 2nd to arrive.not a great experience sorry to say and definately overpriced to boot.wont be going back

Its almost criminal the way they charge you. 2 persons =$90 for $2 pancake mix and watered down vanilla icecream.

What has the world come to when it costs $200 for a family of 4 to go out for pancakes and 1 drink each!
Food is consistent but $29 for a potato pancake is straight up robbery.
Service is good with friendly staff.

Had incredible service from Heather, such a genuinely happy and kind person who made our experience wonderful. Pancakes were very tasty and fresh - recommendation is for the tiramisu pancakes 100%.

We ate here as a treat on Tuesday, for a family of 5 it's great value, but more importantly the food was great and the staff were fantastic. Definitely will be back.

$94.00 for 2 potato pancakes (with bacon bits,) 2 soft drinks, a great big black hair and one pancake was burnt. Won't be back. Table E5

Went here one Sunday night and had terrible service. Meals took forever to come out and salad was too over dressed and soggy. Took half an hour for wait staff to ask if we needed anything after we finished our meals. They were talking amongst themselves and we couldn’t get their attention, all we wanted were coffees. Will not be coming back anytime soon.

Late night feed and I'm giving big thumbs up to the Devonshire Tea pancakes. Staff are always happy to help, friendly and fast.

Not cheap, but we were impressed with the volume - the Chocolate Jubilee in particular has changed from 1 to 2 pancakes for the same price, which was a pleasant surprise.

It's definitely worth joining their loyalty app for the free birthday month meal and other deals.

Great idea for kids party.

Service was awfully slow, they forgot to bring us cutlery. Food was ok but very expensive for what it was.
