The Palais Geelong reviews
21 The Russell Morris concert was fantastic (fortunately it was NOT a matter of "The sold-out crowd was singing along to every beat", one of the few concerts we could actually listen to the act rather than.well, you get the idea, and yes, I am a GOM).
Not our first concert at the Palais. This is a great venue with good seats all the way through. Geelong, you are sooo lucky to have the Palais.
Great night with Russell Morris at the Palais. Great seats, the sound was fantastic. Looking forward to going to many more shows at the Palais
We have attended two shows now and love the Palais.
It is small enough to be intimate at 350 capacity but features great sound and simple but effective lighting.
The inside of the building has had a full renovation and is great.the outside needs painting etc but I believe council or objectors are the issue.it's still great and recommend supporting it to make sure that it thrives and brings more great shows to Geelong.
Lovely old building with a lot of history. Its finding a new lease of life with live music
We enjoyed the show very much. The mussitations were excellent.
Russel Morrison performed a good show.
We will be back.
Went to Christmas morning Melodies with 2 friends, lovely friendly staff, very comfortable seating and a great show, we all really enjoyed the morning. We had a couple of questions when we booked and someone always called back very quickly and were super helpful and obliging. Looking forward to going to more shows at the Palais in the future.
What a great re-jigging of this grand old lady. Excellent viewing of the stage even from the back row. Acoustics too are marvellous. Staff are extremely helpful and those wanting refreshments are well-served. With a good variety in entertainment, and great staff going above and beyond, the "new" Palais is a worthy addition to current live entertainment options and facilities.
Attended David Strassman Sunday 6 November. As a vision impaired person we had excellent seats. Staff were fantastic and am sure to attend more shows there in the future. Keep up the great work. Thank you
Although the Palais is an old building it has undergone internal renovations. Recently attended the David Strassman ventriloquist show there - premises/seating comfortable & clean. Staff polite & helpful.
Small intimate theatre! Saw David Strassman & Ted E Bear here. Seated in row G, had great view of the stage & felt close enough to see facial expressions clearly. Polite staff.
Enjoyed the show too.
Been recently renovated and updated from my understanding.
Went to watch Dave O'Neil and Peter Helliar perform the other night a day had a great time.
Drink options were very good
Stage and the theatre set up was good.
Low points were:
Seats were very uncomfortable especially if your watching something that goes for ages.
Toilets are a bit small and cramped with a big crowd.
Definitely worth going to a show and sussing it out for yourself.
Owners helpful and understanding of my needs. Great night with Adam Harvey and Beccy. Two of the best entertainers in Australia.
Lovely venue. The new lavish interior, the acoustics, and the lighting all made for a wonderful experience for my viewing of Chicago. On the downside- there doesn't appear to be any disabled ramp or allocated disabled seats. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Something needs to be done about the horrible looking exterior and the Roof needs a face lift. They probably spent so much money on the Interior but have so far neglected the exterior. The Palais should look vibrant, inviting and appealing on the outside as well. It should be a Grand piece of property that Geelong could show off.
Went to see Chicago here. What an excellent show and a beautiful location. I highly recommend the Palais as a location for local entertainment. Well maintained and great elevated seating where everyone can see. Loved it.
More toilets would be great, the queues at shows are crazy long. Bar service area needs to be looked at, as queues for bar, entering theatre and for the bathrooms, all intermingle, very crowded and chaotic all in the one spot. Theatre itself is lovely and comfortable.
Had the absolute pleasure of attending Chicago at The Palais tonight. It was fabulous to see this beautiful building restored to its former glory. The whole process from ticketing to seating was excellent. The stage, lighting and the show were top class. Well done The Palais, let’s hope we see more productions at the venue!
Saw the final performance of Chicago last night at this venue. Performance amazing. Venue beautiful. So nice to see the detail still there in the structure of the repurposed venue. Very inviting and intimate place for a great evening.
First experience at the palais Geelong, watching my daughter's dance concert. Our usher Liz was friendly & helpful and helped us find seats where we would have the best view. The interior and exterior has a long way to go in terms of renovations and would benefit from the installation of tiered seating. A great alternative venue for Geelong performers.
Attended GSODA last week and the service was amazing! The extra mile Liz the usher went to for our elderly mother was heart warming. She checked in on us to make sure we’d were comfortable and ensured we were taken out first to avoid the congestion. Thank you!
Whatever grandeur it had in the past has long decayed leaving this building only as a forgotten gem with a façade that has not seen a coat of paint or repair for many a year. It was a dance hall, bingo hall and music venue but now just looks like a sad puppy hoping someone will give it a little TLC.
24 Jan 2021 - Have now learned this building is being renovated and finally getting some TLC. It might benefit the owners to make some sort of statement to this effect at the front of the building let passers by know this gem is being polished and a facebook page address where they can watch the progress.
