Place is alright. Generally clean, helpful stuff.

Personally do not find rooms nicely designed/decorated, not stylish/modern.

I like that hotel has green initiative when guests can forgo the room service and get a drink voucher as a gratitude.

Was disappointed with breakfast options. All sorts of eggs, but very little choice for those who like something on a sweeter side. Took the granola one day, it came with way too sweet yogurt. I’d suggest swapping it to plain Greek and accompany it with a maple sirup on the side, so those people who don’t want a desert for breakfast can control the sugar level. Having something like yogurt with fruits, Bircher muesli and porridge in the menu would be nice. Amount of granola was a bit sad, it was just covering the bottom of a small ramekin. Plenty of breakfast options outside the hotel, so probably would recommend going out.

Stayed for business trip, so location was good for that as our office is in Richmond, but I can’t imagine this being very convenient location for those who travel to Melbourne as tourists, as all interesting sights are in CBD, which is a fair walk (1h), or need to use public transport (or pay for taxi), which is still not yet super convenient in Melbourne with myki cards and no tap etc.

My room is spacious, nice and bright. And the bed… oh my lord, the bed! I was always wondering how it would feel like to sleep on a cloud? I got my answer. Best fluffy bed ever, for me! And lovely reception staff.

Well-appointed rooms, convenient location great food options within close proximity. Would definitely return

It's such a beautiful hotel in a terrific location. South Yarra was gorgeous, and Chapel St.is a blast.

I really appreciated the early check-in after 28 hours of traveling and loved having a kitchen in my room. Would 100% stay again.

Terrible hotel with rickety cupboards and scuffed up damaged drawers and TINY, outdated room. Do not get catfished by their photos like we did. 0/10.

We hosted an executive breakfast in the penthouse suite. The staff were very accomodating, friendly, and responsive. This venue is brilliant. Highly recommend.

Went here for lunch as my sister was staying at the hotel. Loved the pork belly, shared this as an entree. The rib eye was very nice as well, food presentation was excellent. The restaurant was quiet which made is pleasant for conversation. The beer on tap was fresh and excellent!

The hotel places a $100 hold on your card that has now taken over 2 weeks to drop off and still hasn't dropped off. This outdated practice does nothing but strip the local community of tourist dollars.

Room was acceptable but we felt it was overpriced. The location is very good.

Good location a short distance from restaurants and shops. The rooms a nicely presented but looking a little dated since my last stay a few years, could do with an upgrade. Room service not available after 9pm, usually for a 5-star hotel there is 24hr room service but I should have checked so missed out on ordering dinner. The pool is lovely however it’s a bit awkward as the conference rooms glass wall looks directly into the pool so a bit strange taking a swim with people meeting watching over. Staff super friendly and efficient.

The hotel frequently has very loud parties on premisws that are very annoying to the community.

Five star, definitely not. The worst aspect was that there was blood on the bedsheets - they had not been washed or changed.

Secondly, I arrived late and the front desk were hardly rushed off their feet, but they didn’t provide a card with access to the gym and had set my room card to expire one day early (I could not access my room without verifying ID which was in my room).

Lastly, room had no milk for coffee (small inconvenience - but just adds to entire experience of poor service and lack of attention to detail).

Never again!

This hotel is completely disfunctional. Numerous people waiting to checkin. People waiting hours for their rooms. None to help with bags. Room was not as booked and when paying full rack rate we were so upset to be downgraded because they had been running a special deal and the hotel was full

Located in a good location on Chapel Street close to all food precincts, the Olsen hotel is an art series hotel with good amenities. There is a pool and gym as well as a restaurant on the ground floor which is open every day. It is <500m to the Yarra River and also close to trams and Woolworths across the road. Great selection of local restaurants from high to low end

We stayed at the Olsen for 5 weeks in a one bedroom suite. To be fair it was just after Covid restrictions were partially lifting. I think it needs a bit of upgrading to hit 5 star's.
It's in a good location the staff are friendly and we recommend school playing school side as it's quiet.

Conveniently located on Chapel Street, room is in excellent condition, stocked with all necessities and a small kitchen for basic food prep. Check in is fast and hotel services up to expectation.

Negatives:
I was on the top floor opposite the towel storage room. Sound proofing 1/10 - I heard the storage room door close 20 times on Friday afternoon. I could also hear detailed conversations of staff and guests through my door.
No room cleaning through COVID - which is understandable however guests should be notified in advance. I had to request towels and body wash on more than one occasion. No price adjustment for downgrade of services.
Hotel is very dated and needs some serious capex to be invested.
Positive:
Food in the restaurant is very good. The coffee also amazing.
