Stay away from here, dr. In emergency department refused to give me any antibiotics or any other medication. I was. There a year before with same problem at them time they gave me antibiotics through needle. And I was. Feeling better but this time this doctor is like I am the boss, I will do what I like,
So after 15 hours in emergency they send me home without treatment. Please don’t go there.

Northern ED: quite good. Your MMV. Not too long a wait; attentive doctor. Of 3 nurses, only 1 was dismissive - decidedly so (uncommunicative and unhelpful). Tests and scans were done. The problem - including (life threatening) infection was discovered. Into surgery quickly. THEN sent to Northern ICU Ward17. Visiting the seriously ill family member during the daytime, we first ran into a short, loud, argumentative lady -"Anna" - sitting at the entry desk. After she tried to argue - which we avoided, having dealt with toddler-minded b4 - we watched her yell at a family of 4 (whose first language wasn't English). Why? Because after she said only 2 visitors at a time, and they all moved forward, clearly talking amongst themselves: she yelled again: "Only 2! " (one can become hardened, dealing with the worst of humanity (a$$#@les, etc) - been there, done that. But when you stare into the abyss, you become the abyss; or in layman's terms, start acting like an a$$#@le, you become one). Seemed a bit racist, too. The day nurse, Aman, was better, attending our seriously ill family member; but when she went on break, no one covered stationed near our bedside. ICU is set up to where there should always be a nurse there. We found ourselves in need of care. After talking to 4 (!) different nurses, we were told only the nurse stationed near our family member could help us. This was when my family member was in pain and - while dealing with a life-threatening infection - and needing everything from stronger medication to a bedpan. Nothing, nada, zip. I was told by one person to go to talk to a nurse at the other end of the ICU area - only that nurse had just left. 4 or 5 more nurses showed up at the center console, each one of them talking about personal business and or scratching their fundaments or heads. Finally, an older nurse, "Vash", showed up and I got her to see to the bedpan situation (after she was able to get one person to help her out -multiple people ignored her, too - because our family member was too weak to turn and move on their own). Later - after specialists arrived to get further information - I volunteered to help the older nurse myself (because, once again, no one would help her), putting on a gown and helping steady "the patient" while the older nurse did the job all of the others were too lazy or (more likely) too inconsiderate and too uncaring to perform. (Still later - next day - I learned "Vash" was the person who was supposed to watch our family member while Aman was on break!) Rosemary, another nighttime ICU nurse seemed to have a loose grasp of the English language; and is not the sort who'll put our minds at ease when checking on our family member's well-being. She argued when asked after our family member, and continued to be belligerent. The next day, I learned she treated our family member - the seriously ill patient - likewise, IGNORING A REQUEST FOR A BEDPAN! (Uncaring, incompetent, ill-tempered and ill-mannered people like Rosemary should be fired). The worst part about all of this: knowing that I might be leaving my family member in the care of the other (unhelpful) nurses, without truly knowing what is going on (or, more likely, NOT going on) between the hours of 8 p.m. (after visitors aren't allowed) and 11 a.m. About half of the staff are like Rosemary, Vash and Anna. If our family member wasn't suffering such a serious infection, I'd transfer them to Warringal or Fawkner. Knowing they are at the mercy of such creatures - the majority being uncaring, inconsiderate, or even incompetent nurses - when the patient is too weak to speak up is the worst of all. END NOTE: before we transferred from ICU, spoke with Kate (Mgr) and she was at least shocked. And a better nurse - Praneeka - cared for us on the last day in ward 17 (as did 3 or 4 other good people). The attending Doctor & specialists were great. (No surprise: after a last ICU visit, a few unprofessional nurses made a point of talking loudly near the patient: “I’m not treating his wife” was 1 remark).

Came here for a cyst removal and would call this a joke. Had 5 different nurses come in and 3 said I didn’t need surgery and 2 said I did. Unprofessional. Then when I was asked about mental health they never connected me to someone. I asked for pain relief and never got it. They also seem pretty unorganised and slow to get things done. At the end of the day they did help me get better and they’re doing they’re job but it shouldn’t be this much of a hassle for a cyst (I’ve been here a total of around 39 hours)

My partner went here for a small issue. Turned into a massive fuss, absolutely horrible. Would not recommend coming here unless you want to sit around for hours when each worker is telling you multiple different things only to end up feeling worse.

Presented to the ER at 5 am for stitches
Sat on a steel bench in the hallway until 10pm before getting a bed after trying to leave
Then sent home at 11am the next day and told to return at 3pm Thursday for surgery
Received a phone call Wednesday night to postpone surgery until Friday
Then on Thursday night receive a phone call to say I could have the surgery next week maybe?
Joint needs a shake up for certain and some decent management
Useless

Bad skills, cannulation was failed causing my unnecessary sharp pain although with my hand superficial venous this had never been failed in my home country. I was asked to move sitting place without a ‘please’, extremely rude and lacking courtesy, lacking of the basic politeness a healthcare person should have. I’ve never experienced this rudeness in the UK and Germany. People from America and Canada, in contrast, even not medical professionals, say ‘please’ all the time. They insisted on removing my nail which I refused as this would cause intolerable pain, they also ignored my suggestion of pus drainage which is a standard procedure for my case in my home country. I left the hospital without treatment due to their egoism. I later had a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner to release pus using acupuncture needles followed by moxibustion to reduce the pathogenicity of the causative bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and/or Streptococcus pyonenes plus oral antibiotics prescribed by the GP. Now I am recovering as opposed to what they proposed that I could develop necrosis and risk losing my whole finger.

This Hospital is the worst hospital to go to. If your dying they will make you wait. Very rude staff and unprofessional. If you can go to any other hospital go there otherwise your just ganna die in the waiting room.

Would have been 5 stars except for the surgical team. Partner went through ED which was fantastic, the nursing team were great. But he waited 6 hours to be discharged from transit because the surgical team had not prepared his script, medical certificate or discharge summary. Also, while waiting he missed his dose of antibiotics. Useless and fustrating. Specifically mentioned interns Juliana Manna and Harsha Dilip for the delay. Also, a medical certificate was not provided even after countless requests and 6 hours of waiting.

On trying to determine why I can't breathe properly, an ongoing problem, my doctor referred me to a respiratory specialist at this hospital. They sent a letter to me saying there is not enough evidence that I have a breathing issue. I had Xray and ultrasound, and these could not elucidate the issue. Thus I need a specialist. So, what if my problem is something serious then. How the hell do I find out what it is? One useless mob at this hospital.

The two visitors per patient per day limit is ridiculous. I understand limiting the number of simultaneous visitors, but limiting the number per day is unfair to both the families and the patients.

My experience at this hospital has been absolutely horrible. I spent 4 hrs waiting in emergency to see a doctor for 10 minutes and then thrown back in emergency to wait another 6 hrs and counting, a dog at a pet clinic gets treated better than this place

My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer 18 days ago.
Our doctor at the Northern hospital was Dr. Neil Strugnell, he was amazing, explained everything to us, the surgery process and what it involves. The surgery is tomorrow, the process was quick and thorough. The nurses were incredible, they even called us at home several times to help us deal with our situation. Our experience with the Northern hospital was absolutely outstanding. Thankyou to all involved.
Wish us luck for the surgery tomorrow.
