The Moon reviews
46 Changing this review again cause I’ve been back more recently and the service and vibe was great.
I also came in for a take-away and was recommended an absolutely cracking Grenache that I never would have picked myself.
Wine for $20 a glass and all pours were under 150ml. Food was tasty but the tiniest portion for their price. The pasta ragu was over cooked dry mince beef.
Pretty unhappy all round. Won't be coming back
Beautiful! Seasonal produce, duck crispy skin and just melt in your mouth! Great wines and cocktail selection! The staff were all so lovely, definitely worth our trip to the moon!
A waitress with short hair was racist! She was super rude! She ruined our good mood last night! But the rest of the wait postaff was super nice, I can't believe a restaurant this cozy hires waitresses like that!
Gorgeous atmosphere! The moody lighting makes for the perfect setting for a great conversation with great company while drinking a great glass of wine. The bar staff give excellent recommendations if you are indecisive and do one of the best gin martini’s I’ve ever had.
Great spot for a drink and bite to eat.
Solid wine selection, and delicious food coming from the kitchen.
As an added bonus the staff are super friendly too!
Highly recommend
Had a great time here last night. We ordered a bottle from geelong, which was really great.
Love love LOVE the moon! I always take visitors to Melbourne here, its easily my favourite wine bar in Melbourne. A great selection of wines by the glass and a ridiculous level of choice by the bottle! Staff are friendly and super knowledgeable and always happy to guide your choice if you're unfamiliar with some of the wines. Food is limited but is always super tasty and unique. Finally the vibe is also just perfect - it is casual enough for a sneaky sunday afternoon wine but also has intimate little spaces to make it perfect for a date night.
If i had to say something bad about it I would say its probably the handle to the bathroom door. You have to turn it a funny way and I'm too dumb to remember this each time I go so it catches me out
Love everything about this place, EVERYTHING!
Great food, wine, service, ambiance, music, there is nothing that this place has missed in its execution and is the perfect wine bar.
Super cute wine bar with a great ambiance. Didn't try any of the food but enjoyed the wine and atmosphere.
My first time here and I met Sam, Maddy and Joel. Awesome friendly people, great service and Maddy cooks and mean steak - thank you
Overall, it was alright. But I was surprised that my dish contained crumbs of sourdough rather than the actual bread like what their menu indicated.
Stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine - great selection, excellent service with very friendly staff. Grabbed a bottle take away as well, which went exceptionally well with dinner.
I really love coming here for a drink as the service is spot on and the atmosphere is so beautiful however I went to try and the food was just a tad disappointed. The portion sizes weren’t substantial and I don’t feel they represented value for money.
A nicely relaxed wine bar just off Smith Street that we're so glad we found. Friendly staff, interesting wines and delicious food.
We absolutely love this place. Everything about it is perfection - the wine, the food, the staff, the atmosphere. It’s all amazing. Thank you to Sarah and the crew for a super fun and delicious evening. We will definitely be back.
The atmosphere: dim and comfortable not very quiet though but beautiful and kinda luxurious.
Crew: kind and lovely very attending
Wines: I tried their burgundy Erich was aromatic and goes well with their cheese platter, I expected more wine varieties though.
The price: reasonable
Really liked the vibe at this wine bar. Dimly lit spot with nice seating, the wait staff are super attentive & warm. Enjoyed the wines - especially the Oyster Bay white wine.
For food, the Kingfish and fried bread are definitely worth ordering but don’t come here if you’re after anything more than a bite to eat. Was disappointed how small the menu was, because on Instagram they looked to have way more substantial dishes - unfortunately they don’t put up their menu online though
The Moon is an unassuming wine bar that will catch you by surprise. The place is dimly lit and creates a beautiful vibe perfect for a date night or to escape with friends to chat and hide away. Staff are friendly, attentive and know their wines and food well. The menu is short and made to share and on point. Great flavours, quality ingredients and I would call it modern Australian tapas. Do yourself a favour and go let this place surprise you
This bar was a lovely surprise! The wine list is interesting and varied and the staff were all super knowledgeable and helpful with their suggestions. We had some great food as well, enjoying the charcuterie plate as a late night snack. Really nice fitout too - dark and moody and perfect for catching up with close friends.
