The Manse reviews
20I found The Manse an atmospheric, elegant and romantic place to stay. The amount and quality of the breakfast provided was a pleasant surprise. We had an open fire that was set and ready to light. Helen the manager was very friendly and gave us a guided tour. The Manse is a short walk to the main shopping areas but is quiet. I hope to return soon.
Beautiful place to stay in the heart of town. We loved the character of the place and the thoughtful touches that made it feel special. Helen was also extremely helpful and communicative. Fabulous - would recommend.
If you’re looking for quintessential country home experience look no further… not much in the way of staff around, but we loved everything from the pre-stocked fireplace, to decoration (every room has a colour), to views (upstairs). Location is perfect
A wonderful and great value hotel with a lot of character. If you are looking for a sterlie, uniform chain-style hotel then this is not for you, however if you want something unique, interesting and don't mind spot of dust then this is a great choice. The amount of food, snacks and wine alone made it worth it, the spectacular view tips it to an easy 5 stars!
We just spent a lovely weekend at the Manse, We had the pleasure of staying in the Zebra room with stunning views. Our view was easily the highlight of the weekend. The in-room bath was well utilised and added that extra bit of relaxation. Our room was delightfully furnished and equipped with a kitchenette, loaf of bread, butter, milk, coffee and tea. The bed was super. Try as we might we couldn't find any cobwebs or dust, not that we care about that. Helen had everything organised for us and her son Trevor was on site to help out when we needed some firewood for the in-room fireplace. I understand that some people expect all sorts of mod cons and things but not us. Old world charm with a view, especially from the veranda. We'll be back.
What a lovely, quint place to stay. Such lovely, friendly assistance. Walking into the room, you're met with such a lovely welcome surprise of lovely wine. The place is set up with the normal things you expect at home and to have it in your accommodation, what a treat. Will definitely be back to the Zebra Room?
Absolutely amazing! We spent 2 nights in this amazing place and loved every minute of it. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and the blankets supplied very warm. The Manse is located close to the main street, it's a comfortable walk.
We have returned to this enchanting mansion that has everything provided to make our stay luxurious. The champagne, chocolates etc and breakfast are very, very generous and all of the little extras are thought of to ensure a comfortable stay. Beds are beautiful and soft, fires are set and easy to light for a cosy atmosphere, claw foot baths are lovely and Helen is a wonderful host. Thanks so much and we will be back!
Room is not cleaned properly. Dust everywhere. Windows do not have fly screen. The shower in the bath is not mentioned when booking. I did not see this as value for money at all from the unkept gardens onwards I checked out after first night if a two night stay. Not.impressed at all
Absolutely gorgeous place for a solo or couple staycation. While I didn't get to meet the manager, I was kept up to date on which room I would be in, how to access the keys, and how to check out independently. While I do recognise the safety of getting in and out of the bathtub, it does have a "olden days" charm to it. Will be back for sure.
Amazing place for a honeymoon, with a huge bath and wood fireplace in the lavishly decorated ("Plum") room. Built-in kitchenette and ensuite bathroom made the whole experience very romantic, as did the sound system and included wine. Location also an easy walk to Lake Daylesford, botanic gardens and town centre. We had a lovely and unique time and would highly recommend.
Beautiful place to stay, very close to everything but very quiet and peaceful, lovely view from the room. Definitely worth a visit.
We had a lovely time. The manse is close to town and the gardens so easy walking. Beautiful accommodation.
An absolutely marvelous experience! From the moment we were shown the gorgeous "yellow room" by our delightful host Helen til our departure, we were so glad that we decided to stay here. Everything was clean, warm, and exceptionally welcoming. We felt as though we stepped through a mirror and had taken a trip back to another place in time but with all the comforts one could possibly need for a short stay. The night was cold but the port and fireplace warmed us right up! The bath was deep and sumptuous, and the little extras throughout were very thoughtful and much appreciated. For us, staying here is as much of an attraction now as the rest of this gorgeous little town. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Daylesford.thanks Helen!
I would like to have been able to review the Manse but I am now choosing to stay elsewhere in Daylesford. I was told we were getting a gift voucher for the Manse for a very much needed getaway with my husband. Despite numerous telephone calls and messages over 5 weeks left for the managers, no contact has been made either to myself or my daughter. I will not recommend the Manse to anyone! Very disappointing and rude!
Lounge chairs are stained, didn't like having bath exposed in bedroom, building and facilities show a certain degree of tiredness.
This is a unique place. The decor is beautiful. My room was well set out & beautifully presented with towels, chocolates, breakfast suppliers etc. It is well placed within walking distance of the town centre. Ally the manager, was so helpful & a great source of information about where to eat, where to go & much more.
Unfortunately in hot weather there was insufficient cooling & not enough windows with flywire to open. I am short & found the large footed bath extremely difficult to get into & out of. I had to stand with the hand held shower hose as I risked being unable to safely get out if I sat down in the large bath.
Very cool place if you're looking for something a bit different. Great location and an easy walk from the main strip and the Convent Gallery.
Stayed in the yellow room. Gorgeous period features with a large claw foot bath, wood fireplace and lovely breakfast provisions and port. Close to the main shops of daylesford and a walk to everything.
Mid week is an absolute bargain. The building is beautiful and the different rooms are just amazing, all with fireplaces! We had the blue room as it has a lovely little outside area to sit in the sun and drink tea:) one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in.
