The Lonely Sock

Have been using the washer and dryer whenever I’m in Melbourne for the past few years. Prices are reasonable too. Laundry detergent and soda drinks are available for purchase via the vending machine.

However, today, tapping card via PayWave was not available and I didn’t know what to do as there were no instructions in the store.
Thankfully, an angel came by and told me that I needed my physical card, to swipe and insert card. Poured detergent in a few machines as I moved from one washer to another as I didn’t know how to work it earlier.

As for the dryer today, after the $8 session was over, I tapped for the extra $2 drying but the dryer did not start. It went back to show $8 on the screen! Argh! I lost the $2, and just collected my clothes. Any way I could dispute and get a refund? Please advise.

Frankly, I’ve never had any issues before.but today… just not a good laundry day - 9 Dec 2023.

3 expensive items were stolen from the dryer. My daughter's Ralph Lauren hoodie. My husband's Alo sweats and also a Lululemon tee. Management was not helpful at all. Seats are set up in a way that you can't watch your laundry the entire time.

Excellent place to do laundry. They have helpful staff present, ample machines, places to sit and laundry powder/detergent on site.

As the other reviewers said, the staff is so helpful and kind! The best place to do the laundry! Very close to Southern Cross station. The staff leaves the shop at 6: 00pm, while he is working, he helped me to pay by cash and told me how to activate the machine, the soaps, softener etc. Thank you so much! Very clean, hygienic, comfortable to wait (many chairs) and safe with bright lights and wide windows. I am satisfied with the laundry at this place at the end of my trip in Melbourne! Highly recommend!

Clean place to do laundry with nice machines. Nice, friendly staff. Machines take credit card which is very convenient. Watched the care with which the staff did laundry services.

Free wifi, card payments, and staff on hand for anything else. Hassle free washing. Great!

The edge of the washing machine is dirty and the clerk must not have cleaned it for a long time.

We got there before 10 am on a Saturday and found many free washers and dryers. Their machines were efficient, and the price is reasonable. No need for a handful of coins - machines and detergent dispenser are all by credit card.

If I were in town again, I'd be happy to do my laundry there again. They also have a drop-off service if you don't want to to it yourself.

Plenty of machines to use, staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to use and clean machines. Good value for money. Free wifi. Comfortable seating.

Best laundromat in the Melbourne CBD (and I've seen four!) All the machines take card, and there is a good coffee shop nearby.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! How IRONIC they are called the Lonely Sock, they lost several pair of our socks, dress trousers and our underwear. The number isn't working and they have not responded to several emails about the missing clothes. We are traveling and are now in Sydney at the Four Seasons, not sure if we are going to see our clothes again and they really owe us a partial refund. Guess they wanted to prove their name is correct. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE STAYING IN HOTELS IN MELBOURNE! Unless, you want to go out and spend time and money on your vacation buying new clothes. Such a small order, one bag of clothes. They must have mixed our clothes with others. Oh well, lesson learned.

I was staying at a hotel and the front desk misplaced my laundry return. The person at Lonely Sock was willing to hop on the phone and help determine who it was left with at the desk, which led to the hotel finding my laundry. He didn't have to do this, but was gracious and helpful.

The laundry was done perfectly. I sometimes find wash/fold places are sloppy with the folding, but not these folks. I would hire them again for laundry.

Self-service washing machines and driers available here. Pay using payWave on the machine itself.
Laundry powder is available in a vending machine if you forget to bring your own.
There are staff on site to assist if required.
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Hi the lonely sock is 1st class, but I believe that I left some of my close in a drier jeans, a hoody top, black pull over, some underwater, socks etc please confirm same, so that I can pick this lot up thank you

Was a bit pricey, but does the job well.

There is lint stuck on the lids, so it may not be cleaned that often.

Stopped into here when I needed to do some laundry as the Hotel I was staying at didn’t have an on-site laundry. This laundromat was very clean and had an excellent range of washing machines and dryers. The price for washing and drying was very reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful.

In this digital world customer service is everything and The Lonely Sock provided me the best service. I forgot to pick up my business suit and at 8pm they organised someone to come and get my suit before flying to Europe.

I come to this laundromat every week. This week my trolley which I carry my laundry in from my home broke, I spent about 15 minutes trying to repair it when Kevin came up to help. He tried fixing the trolley with glue and tape, to no avail he provided me with a bag and a trolley I could take home and bring back (bag he actually gave to me!). This was an absolute life saver as I really wasn’t sure how I was going to get home and was contemplating doing multiple trips. Thank you so much for your kindness Kevin, you went out of your way just to help for nothing in return. There should be more people like you! Everyone else I have encountered working in this store are lovely and always provide 5 star service. Best laundromat ever!

Dropped off my doona and mattress protector at 10am all ready to go by 1.20pm. Fresh clean as new after my dog had an accident on the bed. Paid $35 the whole experience was stress free and mess cleaned without hours of cleaning by me. Thanks ️
