The Lake View Hotel reviews
57This is a long-established business in an iconic location on Lake Wendouree in Ballarat. It has good standard pub meals including delicious salads. Service is efficient and pleasant.
My family and I went our for a nice family dinner and were extremely disappointed. The staff were rude an unfriendly, we ordered some drinks and everyone but my little sister is 18, they accused me of pouring alcohol in her cup loudly before checking cameras. They later told us they checked cameras and confirmed I didn’t, I don’t understand why they didn’t do that to begin with. But continued to give us dirty looks so after our entrees we left to get dinner somewhere else. Do better. Train your staff properly. Made us feel unwelcome and judged, not the kind of customer service you’d expect for such a lovely establishment.
Went yesterday arvo 19August and asked for a Tia Maria and coke. The young poppet didn’t know what a Tia Maria was as she said she had never heard of it. She then asked me if it was a type of bourbon ️! What’s the point of having someone working in a bar who doesn’t know about various types of alcohol? It’s not as if Tia Maria is uncommon and some sort of exotic drink. It turned out that they didn’t have any at all in this bar. So we left and they missed out on our dinner order as well.
Always enjoy a meal at the Lake View Hotel. Lots of gluten free options. The brekkie wrap is my favourite! I do find the quality of food does seem to drop a bit during busy times (weekends mainly), but generally the food the great! Decent prices too.
Great delivery service. Ordered 2 chicken Parma.cooked perfectly, had very minimal napoli sauce on it.
Calamari was beatiful as was the battered fish.
Was disappointed. No ID check. Wait staff didnt have masks on correctly. It goes over your nose guys! Also doesnt sit around chin either! Too crowded. Will not be back in a hurry. Sorry.
Constantly delicious food, excellent friendly and efficient staff and never ever dissapointed! Love, love, love supporting the Lakey ️
We had lunch booked on on Sunday with a number of friends. 14 of us were put so close to each other, I could not use my knife. Forget social distancing. When we asked for an extra table, they have none. OK, Sunday, nice day. Asked for water, were given a bottle and 6 glasses for 14 people. OK, not to crowd a small table. The food was horrible, my warm salad was mainly mayo with spinach and I had to look for chlcken. My husband's pizza cost like big, but was small and mainly dough. Terribly overpriced and not tasty.
No ID check in metropolitan lockdown time. Too few waiters. Understandably, they try to make up for their losses, but many other places we visit trying to support hospitality never do it.
We thought we would make the place one of our destinations regarding the views. Sorry, you've missed us. We'll enjoy the views elsewhere
Stopped in for lunch. Sat upstairs on the balcony on a still clear sky day. Super relaxing, amazing views with overhead heating to take the chill off the air. Super friendly, polite and efficient service staff. Couple of wraps and a wine. Taste, generous portion with nice chips. Other food coming out looked great too! Great job Lake View! Keep it up.
We had dinner last night, at the Lakeview Hotel, to celebrate a family member's birthday.
The venue may be abiding by the current restrictions on numbers of diners, however the main dining room seemed to be filled to capacity, which was concerning to us given Victoria has only just come out of lockdown and there are still restrictions on numbers at dining in venues.
We were required to wear masks into the venue and permitted to remove them once seated. We were required to "sign in" to the venue, and were required to remain seated at our table with staff providing table service.
If we needed to leave the table we needed to wear a mask. Eg if we needed to go to the restroom.
There were 17 in our party, on 2 tables. Our orders were taken soon after we were seated, however It was quite a long wait before our meals arrived at the table.
Overall we all enjoyed our meals when did finally get them.
I ordered the Roast pumpkin, rocket & walnut salad with calamari. Apart from approximately 6 generous sized pieces of very tender calamari, my bowl was largely full of rocket, which my fellow diners noticed and commented on. This meant I had to search for the few other components of my salad, and had to leave the potato rosti at the bottom of the bowl as it was very greasy.
The two staff who waited on us were very pleasant and obliging, including being happy to provide small plates and a knife to serve the birthday cake which was baked by the mum of the birthday girl.
Finally, although the menu offers a large choice of reasonably priced meals, I would recommend a more professionally menu be prepared. Quite a few of us had difficulty reading parts of the current one due to poor quality printing.
It was a very cold, wet night in Ballarat. One of those winter nights when many people would prefer to stay at home instead of venturing out into the cold night.
I have to congratulate the Lakeview for proving a warm, cosy and welcoming venue for people to enjoy a meal with family and or friends.
Loved this place.the food, the lake view, the staff and the ambience.we had chicken salad and my partner had a wrap. (can't remember exact name of the dishes) but we absolutely enjoyed coming here.this was our first visit to Ballarat and this place.will come back again.staff is very friendly.the lady who took care of us wears glasses (I wish I had asked her name) and she was very professional and friendly.keep up the good work guys.
The food was great and the service excellent. Warm lovely atmosphere and lots of staff to help. Prices very reasonable and the chicken parmigiana was ample, thick and perfectly cooked. Thank you and will definitely be back. A big thank you to our waitress Molly.
First time back since Covid19 hit. Ordering is now done via a QR code at the table (on the bar side anyway), which made ordering and paying super easy. Not too crowded either. We will be back.
The most amazing meals, so accommodating for people with allergies. Spent the afternoon in the private office space and can not thank Mia enough for her fantastic hospitality and attention to detail for myself and my staff.
Enjoy this this hotel so much and love meeting clients here.
Usually love the food but unfortunately this time it was very ordinary breakfast Sunday morning. Everything very dry & overcooked & dry.
Friendly staff, nice Furphys on tap, steak sandwich not really a sandwich but filling nonetheless. Good price and wide selection of food items to order from menu, there will be something for everyone.
My husband and I drove up from the Coast to look at property in Ballarat.
We stopped off at the Lake View Hotel for lunch.
Sat outside in the terrace enjoying the sunshine. Our meal was delicious, zucchini and Parmesan soup with crunchy toast. Followed by pork spare ribs. The service was impeccable, friendly staff. Would certainly recommend this magnificent hotel.
Messed up my order couple of times, resulted me in waiting over an hour for brekky plate, and then I had to send it back again after finding eggshells that were still stuck on my eggs.
Food was great but the cutlery didn't arrive for some time after our food and they didn't have the specials menu upstairs, only downstairs.
Friendly engaging staff. Kids meal was perfect size for our Mr 4. Came out early to give time to cool. Lovely area and meals.
