The Kitchen, Bistro, Bar and Courtyard reviews
63Wet busy morning, the staff were run off their feet. We waited over an hour for our food before being told it was forgotten. One staff member, making coffees was very rude to the other staff. Will pick when we return as the high demand is obviously not something they can deal with.
We came here the dinner, all of us ordered the Thursday night curry banquet. Service was incredibly slow, we waited over an hour for our food. We appreciate it’s a busy time in the Peninsula but we would’ve also appreciated communication to indicate when food would be ready.
By the time our food came, some of our party had lost their appetite and so ate very little. The food was quite nice and we enjoyed the banquet. However, the service in this instance did take away from the quality of the food. No one apologised for the wait despite us chasing for our food on a couple of occasions.
We had pork belly and curry. Pork belly is done nicely with the hitch of sweet and vinegar sauce.
Curry is thick and creamy, we have masala for the night.
It is a good experience. Service is good.
Coffee is Melbourne standard. Fabulous staff, arancini balls were a win. Chris got creative and made a fabulous cocktail off the cuff. An absolute artist!
Cafe that is a local icon with great service at the beach. Excellent brekkie and coffee, cosy in the cold, and relaxed alfresco option. Parking and crossing the big road can be a challenge.
Had the eggs Benedict with mushrooms, bacon, and tomato. It was delicious, I would recommend. Hidden gem in between Rye & Rosebud.
THIS IS BOTH A POSITIVE AND NOT SO POST, SORRY FOR THE NOT SO.
FIRST UP, WE TOTALLY LUV THE KITCHEN WITH ITS BRILLIANT QUALITY FOOD AND STAFF.
LAST SUNDAY JUST A POINT TO NOTE BEING THAT WE COULDNT ORDER POACHED EGGS WITH OUR BREAKFAST BECAUSE THE LADY ON THE COFFEE MACHINE OVERRODE THE GENTLEMAN TAKING OUR ORDER TO MENTION THE KITCHEN WAS TOO BUSY TO CHANGE THE EGGS FROM FRIED TO POACHED ON THE BREAKFAST MENU, BUT LOOKING AROUND THE VENUE, IT WAS 1/2 ACCUPIEDAND WE DIDNT WANT TO EMBARASS THE GENTLEMAN WHO WAS MORE THAN WILLING TO DO OUR NORMAL ORDER ADJUSTMENT WITH PURSUING OUR REQUEST.
WE WERE DISSAPOINTED THAT ON EVERY OTHER SUNDAY ON OUR WEEKEND STAY AT TOOTGAROOK IT HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM, (ALSO THE CHANGE OF EGGS FROM FRIED TO POACHED WAS A DIETRY REQUEST).
ALMOST SEEMS PEDANTIC WITH THIS POST BUT WE WERE TAKEN BACK ABIT. (also just to take care with almost the same amount of pets to people with outdoor dinning and a tripping hazard-and yes we have owned dogs cats and rabbits)
WE WILL STILL ALWAYS GO TO THE KITCHEN FOR A GREAT MEAL WITH ITS FOOD AND AMBIANCE AND STAFF.
Table of 5 and we ordered
“The big Benny”
“obligatory smashed avo”
“Proper egg and bacon roll” and
“Tootgarook pancakes”
With iced lattes, iced mochas and iced Chais.
Food was delicious.
Presentation on point!
Wait time was fine and expected as it was fairly busy.
The service was welcoming and kind and our waiter was a laugh! Which is always good!
-1 star ONLY because the chorizo wasnt whole and was actually a 1/4 of one. And it was a little annoying to pay $6 for it. But it was still yum!
Would definitely come back and happily recommend this place!
Beautiful interiors. Good food. Curry was a bit sweet to my taste but still delicious. Servings are huge so you can share and try out more dishes!
Dining here was a great experience. The slow cooked lamb was to die for and I may have had the best cocktail I've ever had here! Staff were lovely and the restaurant's decor was awesome.
Was such a lovley breakfast at The Kitchen outside with my puppy enjoyed the fresh air. The staff were so friendly & wow enjoyed the meals & coffee. Parking & facilities all good.
Very cool Cafe with great/interesting brunch options. I love trying new foods and thought this cafe had plenty to choose from.
Staff were super friendly and kind. Very accommodating even though we didn’t have a booking. Was lovely sitting in the courtyard under the vines.
Food is high quality, friendly service, good selection of food to choose from. A enjoyable experience.
I ordered the mushroom bruschetta and it was not what I was expecting, it was too simple. My friends and family really enjoyed what they ordered so I recommend this place but not the mushroom bruschetta
Dinner at the Kitchen tonight as always was great, the slow cooked lamb OMG amazing! Desert we were recommended the white chocolate cheesecake, WOW!
This place is so good, my wife and I love going here it’s the best.
Food was terrible. Absolutely subpar. Service ordering food was slow and I had to repeat my order multiple times.
Sitting outside in dirt, why not have pavers. Left dusty and dirty.
Will not be going back.
10/10! This little gem made my week!
I got the Fettuccine Con Vongole, Arancini and Cheesecake. The cocktail was also delicious… Turquoise something, I forgot the name! Could not flaw one thing! Left my tastebuds wanting more.
Also very impressed with how quickly meals were served, portion size and cost, I left feeling greatly satisfied!
Inside is beautifully set up and cozy.
Staff were extremely friendly and attentive!
(Also very appreciative to the chef for making little alterations for my friend’s allergies where possible)
To the owners, chef and staff… keep up the excellent work. I will be back!
I love ordering a take away coffee and being told after they are made it they have no lids. It was such a nice drive home with a couple of hot coffee spilling all over my lap thanks! NOT THE FIRST TIME EITHER
Went here with friends over the long weekend, we were accommodated for our large group. The food was marvellous and the service was pretty good. I had the bacon and salmon sandwich and it was really good.
