The Jolly Miller Cafe

Came here for brunch with my partner on Friday, 29 December. The place wasn’t busy, so the waitress asked us to choose any available table. Just as we were about to order, the barrister in charge of coffee-making came to our table and requested us to move to a table for 2, saying we were at a table for 4. He didn't suggest a new table; he simply asked us to relocate. Without making a fuss, we obliged.
However we found it odd, especially noticing other customers at tables for 4, with only one or two individuals, who weren't asked to move. As the only "non-white" customers, we couldn't help but wonder about the underlying reasons. This experience tainted what should have been a nice brunch, leaving a bad taste in our mouths.

My first time at this cafe. Great service and a big menu. Atmosphere was good. A big selection of cakes and lighter menu options in display cabinet. Great place to visit with friends and have a sneaky Prosecco.

Busy store with very efficient staff that didn't stop moving the whole time I was waiting for my take away coffee. Great to see a hardworking team, well done guys!

Customer services are very poor. And management is badly orgaised. Took forever to order then told me that my order didn't go though. Not a good first time experience

Our first visit here. The staff were lovely, rhe wait for our order was short, the food was great! I tried the Pad Thai noodles for the first time and loved it, my friend and her husband ordered the pork belly slaw and she said it was delicious but would have loved less slaw more pork belly. Left with a couple of cheesecakes for later, they were so delicious!

Went here 1 week ago with my Cousin, only around 8 People in the Cafe, they had enough Staff, we were ignored, when l went up to order, l asked the Young woman who worked there, isn t it table service, she said there low on Staff, l said, you hv enough Staff to cover only 8 Patrons in the Cafe, she Called me RUDE, and did not take my order and walked away, this is discussing behavior and bad Customer service, obviously there Boss was not working that day, so they thought, they could do whatever they wanted.l will continue to Go to this cafe because l like it, however, l will be Complaining to the manager if this bad Customer service happens again.l hv been here a few times, obviously when the boss has been there, but when she walked away from servicing me, the boss must of been away! Just remember there are lots of Good Cafes around Croydon, so whoever yr Boss is he better start training The staff on how to not be Rude to customers.

We had an issue with the Menulog order we placed with Jolly Miller, through the fault of menu log. The staff were so helpful and just really lovely. On top of it the food was delicious. Thanks guys!

Tried this cafe for 3 times (once only had coffee) on both weekday and weekends. Had to wait for extensive amount of time for our food and coffee each time. Kid was starving and bored as hell. And the food was not worth for the wait at all. The seafood linguine was too oily, the pad Thai was so dry and lack of flavour I had to ask for a lemon wedge because it didn't come with one. The kids Mac and cheese is also a nightmare. Also you'd have to wait in a long queue to pay for your bill. And the service was bad too. The male staff was alright except him calling me darling each time made me slightly uncomfortable. But the female staff that served us last time was really rude. She served another table who came in after us. I had to ask for the menu and she just put the menu and cutlery on our table. I didn't even got a how are you today. Will never go back again.

I don't like posting low scores but I'm hoping the owner sees this as they need to improve with this type of thing.
I ordered a chai tea with milk on the side, so expected the chai to come brewed in a pot of hot water, with an empty cup and a small jug of cold milk. Which every other cafe has done, including this one last time.
It came as a pot brewed in hot milk, an empty cup and a small jug of cold milk on the side, so I called the waitress over and said 'Sorry I wanted the chai to come in hot water so I can add a dash of cold milk'.
The waitress looked confused and said she would speak to the manager. After speaking to the manager she came back she said 'sorry we don't have chai tea, I can take it back and not charge you. '
This doesn't make any sense, so I didn't end up having anything. It's a pity because the chai spice mix looks fantastic.
All that needed to be done was replace the hot milk with hot water.
You will end up losing customers if something as simple as this can't be done.

Food and drinks are always really good but the thing I’ve noticed is all of the staff don’t wear their masks and the ones that do have them under their mouths. I understand it’s normal for them to fall down but every single time I’m in I notice it, just do the right thing

8: 45 Sunday morning. Four coffee orders on the pass, but front of house staff and barista are sharing social media posts and messages from their phones. Three takeaway orders waiting, but staff are laughing and taking their time. I had to physically walk up to the pass and ask about the coffee before staff turned their attention to it. A shame. Service has gone down hill. Also, new cost for two medium long blacks is now $10. A price point we won’t stand for. Better service and cheaper coffee found elsewhere in Croydon.

Seated straight away and the food was pretty good. Other than that? Shocking.

It was about 5 minutes before anyone came over with menus, we ordered drinks to start, to which we were asked "Is that all? " quite rudely, even though we had only JUST been handed the menus and hadn't even been able to look before we were asked what we wanted to order.

Then I had to repeat my order twice, before the waitress came back and asked a third time. The water was well above room temperature, the food came without the bacon that was ordered, the iced coffee was just pure bitterness (the worst I have ever had) we had to ask for cutlery as none was on the table and none was brought with the food, that was when we were asked if we wanted our toast buttered. After the food was brought and the eggs were already on it. And the icing on the cake? There was hair in the sugar bowl on the table, so I couldn't even sweeten the bitter iced coffee.

I can't say I'll be going back. I'll stick to the Mad Ram in Mooroolbark.

Amazing coffee, healthy, fresh and good quality food, lovely presentation, and great price!

The coffee is always good. The staff are friendly and responsive. However was very disappointed early this morning to see 2 staff serving with masks under their noses, one staff taking orders at the cash register without a mask, the chef not wearing a mask whilst cooking and the Barista also wearing a mask under the nose. It's about their workplace safety as much as it is about customer health and safety.

They are a busy cafe, but their service is fantastic, really friendly and their food is always spot on. My go to place.

Awesome staff. Great coffee made any way you like it. Excellent facilities. Brilliant menu that keeps us coming back. The standard of meals is equivalent to Jolly Miller in balwyn, which was our previous haunt.
Have had the Atlantic.love the smoked salmon. And the Mr Big.is just right.

Best coffee around, it's now our go to. It has a really enjoyable lingering flavour thats not bitter but just really delicious (works really well with oat milk)!
Had breakfast a few times, enjoyed it everytime. The portions are great, well presented, tasty and lots of healthier options that leave you satisfied but feel good. The atmosphere is airy and bright, doesn't feel like a Cafe next to a supermarket. Will be back many times and have recommended to many friends and family when they visit the area, who all love it.

One of the best big breakfasts I've had anywhere in Melbourne. The juices and coffee isn't bad ether. Don't even get me started on the outrageously good bacon, egg and cheese toasties!

Alway love meeting friends or clients at Jolly Miller. The coffee is great and they have a brilliant selection of cakes. Staff are friendly and service is quick.

A nice place, fresh and new interior. I am an alternative milk drinker (soy) and not all coffee blends work with alternative milks (it's a science!). Unfortunately I won't be going back here for coffee, but their cakes and brekkies did look good!
