Looks like this place is real
I had a superficial knowledge of Australia.
I think it's kind of cool
I thought it was a country with white tiger ideology and racism, but now I feel like there is consideration and respect.

Ian Porter is a great guy.

Great Pieces. Some super interesting and fun interactive rooms even for ppl who aren’t huge art fans. Excellent (and free) stepping point for getting into modern art

Friendly and helpful staff. I loved She-Oak and Sunlight Exhibition. I took photos with My Canon E. O. S 600D Camera.

I went in and had a look at the Australian art exhibition on when I wrote this, is a very nice place where you can just sit down in the nice atmosphere and have a good look at paintings most Australians would instantly recognize straight away, they did some terrific paintings in the then outer suburbs of Boxhill and Heidelberg where several men and woman must've all gathered together to make this brilliant collection. Thanks to the owners to lending them to the museum so I could see them in person for the first time, my parents have all the good ones in large sizes hanging in their homes but being able to look at the real deal up close and from several meters back has made me like art more now! It's only just over 20 bucks entry but is definitely worth the cost if you've got a few hours spare to really take in the experience.

Fantastic exhibition. Australian Impressionists can't go wrong. However I found the audio accompaniment too long, too wordy and so I turned it off. It distracted from what I was looking at. Also, web site needs to advise, bring your own headsets/earpieces. The written notes on the wall, re the artist need to be briefer, for example, I don't need to know at each Tom Roberts painting which years he was in France. Also put these notes below the notes on the painting.
The book in the shop is too expensive at $60, and only in hardback. I did buy one though.
Having staggered times to view, i.e. Booking, was a great idea, even if it was because of Covid, it meant not too many at once.
In the end, I would happily go again, it was a better experience than the 9 by 5 exhibition some years back, and that was great.
Thanks. Great work.

The display of Australian art is amazing. The detail and composition of the art work will be memorable. Its good to see the paintings have been painted from local areas, such as Beaumoris, Boxhill, Mentone and parts of Sydney. I'm disappointed how much our country has been destroyed over the years by economic development. The art work I saw today I have wanted to view for many years.

Fabulous gallery, excellent permanent collection and excellent feature exhibitions. Only grumble would be that the atrium entrance wasn't clearly marked as being the current main entrance, we went to the top entrance only to have to walk back around.

Viewing Top Arts every year is always a highlight and this year was no exception. NGV continues to delight with its well fresh exhibitions and curated collection of works.

I had a very good time visiting The Ian Potter Centre! At the moment an exhibition 'The Australian Impressionists' is on, a very enlightening experience and we'll worth the time spent looking at some well known and not so works of art.

I guess after seeing the amazing museums and art galleries in Europe I was a little disappointed. The art is hard to reconcile as being amazing and some displays were totally beyond what you would call art but for those who are art lovers it's worth a visit.

I enjoyed the exhibition and was glad it was shown at the Potter Gallery. The Potter Gallery is very convenient to visit from my home.

Very nice exhibition of the She-Oak and Sunlight Except for the very annoying security guard who blow flied me from the start to finish. Considering I have been to the Louvre and Florence and seen artwork that is priceless and of worldly significance very disappointing on the NGV.

Further proof that the NGV know what they’re doing. Lovely space, well maintained facilities and if you’re not there for the art what are you doing? Seriously, Melbourne art spaces are hard to beat

I liked either the current exhibition and the permanent one. Good coffee, and a pleasant shop. A good place to visit in Melbourne
