The Hungry Peacock & The Busy Peacock

I was really looking forward to having my sons 3rd bday here (hall hire + messy play) as the venue is really lovely and so conveniently set up. Unfortunately, the customer service is very disappointing. I had emailed the venue about booking a date in January 2023 as early as August 2022, at the time I was advised that they can’t take bookings that early in case there are wedding and that I can try again in November, but they did also tell me they had no bookings as yet for the date I had requested. This was fine with me, I followed up again in November, was told my date was still available and I could proceed with the booking. I had a number of questions about setting up, food, timing etc and got the general impression that they really couldn’t be bothered assisting me. There was no willingness to help to support the customer with preparations, it felt like I was it was all too ‘hard basket’. One thing that strikes me as ridiculous was when I requested some help with setting up (just with tables and chairs etc) and was told that this wasn’t something they did as customers generally like to “make it their own”, but the issue is, the venue only gives you 30 mins to set up. Not sure how that is enough time without venue help? We’ve had many functions throughout the years at a range of venues and never had this type of response. The icing on the cake was having my booking cancelled - AFTER paying a deposit, my requested date was confirmed, emails were sent back and forth about preparations etc. I was told that they had doubled booked and were giving the other booking preference because they had booked before me. Even though I had emailed back in August. I find it very hard to believe that it took three months to work out that they had double booked? I firmly believe they showed preference to perhaps a larger and more lucrative event, which is so rude and unprofessional considering how early I had contacted them to save the date.

While the venue itself is lovely, I wouldn’t recommend these guys due their poor customer service and unfriendly manner. There are so many other venues that offer a lovely space and have helpful, friendly and competent staff.

Home to the tastiest burger and food I've ever had in Melbourne. The staff are so friendly and very kid friendly with a room full of toys inside and outside. Good pricing and quality food.

My only critic would be that it's a busy place with only a single chef on so you can be waiting a long time for your food

Great venue! The only thing would be the time setting. If party starts at 1.00pm then slime event should be 1.30pm to 2.30pm so this can cater for the just on time, late arrivals as I found with arrival time & slime time there was a clash. The slime party finished @ 2pm when the guide stated 2.30pm (1.5hr session) ? So could of easily finished the party @ 3pm. So maybe an adjustment to the time schedule would help future party goers. 30min setup time is not enough either, at least an hour would be helpful. All in all great venue, great location & the kids had an absolute ball making the slime whist parents enjoyed a feed & the sun at the Cafe. Thank you what a great venue!

Not impressed with our meals and experience yesterday. The outside play area used to be terrific but it has really gone downhill. Looks old and rundown now. The meals weren’t great. Then we ordered cupcakes for the kids and the icing on top was rock hard and the cupcake mix tasted like it had been in the fridge all week. A $5 cupcake should be fresh. The service from the lady on the coffee machine was rude. I thought perhaps being Father’s Day they were busy and accepted the rudeness but there was only about 6 tables for one sitting. I even heard others complaining outside that they had been turned away for a table- even though the place was really quiet. Messy play shed wasn’t much better either. The young girl in there was really friendly and bubbly but activities on offer weren’t great and it looked old and dirty. Not a great experience.

Recently celebrated our baby shower at Peacock Estate. Jess was amazing on the day, so helpful and really made the whole day work. The venue itself is beautiful and our guests just had the best time. We had flexibility with who we chose for catering and decorations and the whole day was just awesome

A wonderful place to host a kids birthday party. My son loved every minute of it. So easy to organise, helpful and friendly staff.on tye day.

Cannot stop raving about this place. FINALLY a family-friendly cafe! Kids can play while the adults sit and spend money - everyone is a winner. As for the kids Messy Shed activity centre, just wow. Thank you so much. We had a ball.

Amazing place for children of all ages. The messy peacock is perfect for activities for a rainy day and the hungry peacock serves delicious food and is tailored so well for kiddies to be occupied whilst you eat. Highly recommend

We had our daughters 5th Birthday party here. Such a great venue and the kids loved the slime making. They were so quiet and engaged.
Then lots of fun in the church, with some games and dancing.

Absolutely lovely venue, great staff and AWESOME party experience for our 5 year-old. Nothing was too much trouble, and staff kept in regular contact with party being postponed due to Covid. We opted for the busy peacock and hall hire combination and it was great. Would recommend getting lots of help setting up as it's only a short window, but 2 hours for the party was plenty. Also recommend setting your cake up near the green stained glass windows (to use as your back drop), as the photos turned out magically! Thanks Hungry/busy peacock team for a great experience:)

Had my daughters wedding at this venue amazing and magical at night. Staff were all friendly and excellent service

Amazing kid friendly cafe where parents can relax and kids can enjoy themselves and added bonus coffee and food is delish!

Took my daughter here for the first time and she absolutely loved it. Had a wonderful variety of play stations set up was easy and messy fun for us all!

Great spot for toddlers with large play area and tones of other kids. There are very limited places for this younger age group so finding this spot is great! Food was also really yummy. And more kid friendly meal options

Fabulous and cosy Cafe, great to bring the whole family. So much for the kidlets to do here in the secure yard area, ample shade with indoor and outdoor seating. Lunch menu in small but quality food with a good selection of snack items. They also have a messy play shed, highly recommend for all kids under 6, bookings are required. I have been here numerous times over the years and will continue to return.

Great place for kids to play. Need to book messy play or music lessons in advance. Cafe makes the cutest babychinnos

Great spot for the kids to play.but the Cafe is epic full of noise and running kids but perfect if you wanna catch up for coffee or lunch without the guilt of noisy kids. Lots for them to do an play with outside seating is great too
