The Groove Train Waurn Ponds

Had lunch here, service was slow. Got order wrong, forgot part of order. Ordered a kids spaghetti with no sauce and they still charged full price of $14.90 for a small bowl of spaghetti. Never again

Went here for lunch and I was not satisfied. Got served Luke warm food not hot like you would like a meal to be. Chips were only just warm, chicken was dry and hard to eat aswell as luke warm.
Staff took forever to take our order and took about 20 minutes for our food to come out when it wasn’t even near busy.
I will no longer be a regular customer like I normally was!
Very disappointing

Had the tasting plate, Arancini was undercooked, chorizo was cold and far to chewy to eat. Bruschetta was AMAZING!
My friend had fish and chips was flavourful and tender.
Only downer was waiting 20 minutes for a milkshake during lunch service and the lady having no idea where the docket was for my order. Waited a further 15 minutes for another drink towards the end of the meal. Definitely need some other day staff to help out with FOH service there was only a few people in for lunch but the girls seemed to struggle to keep up.

The young blonde male waiter was running that floor like a boss, very impressed, meals were nice and service from other staff was very friendly, great job guys

I just wanted to give these hardworking staff members a big shoutout for their hard work, was extremely busy and they all managed to get coffee, food and drinks out very quickly!
Great place for families, staff members very friendly and having a good time while working.

Really nice food and great sizes, but the cocktails were terrible. Two of us ordered the same drink, one came out red, one came out brown? We tried a few drinks and none of them were nice at all, which was really unfortunate.

Have really enjoyed this place in the past. Tonight my burger was terrible. Bun burnt, chicken oily, chips cold and under cooked. Sat in a draught from front door which was left open forlong periods. My wife's gluten free pizza was part raw on the base. Disappointing.

After reading the response from " The Owner" I am left feeling even less impreesed. An apology isn't an apology if it comes with a "but". None of what we experienced was our fault. To suggest we suffered in silence without alerting staff of our problem is wrong. I did ask our waiter if he would close the door. He kept walking (past the door) and said "I'll be right back. " But he wasn't. At no stage were we asked if everything was good with our food. So we paid our bill and left.

Hardly anyone there. Took 25 mins to get our coffees, of which they had no idea which coffee was which. And then 45 minutes to receive scrambled eggs on toast, and a very poor amount of beans for beans on toast, just microwaved.
To then have a waitress walk out in her tracky-dacks loudly proclaiming to another group about how hung over she was and she was just eating breakfast inside. Great. We’d also like our breakfast, that we paid waaay too much for.
Absolutely useless. Avoid if you can.

Staff were friendly BUT three of us went for lunch. One coffee order mucked up. One meal was the wrong one and took 15 minutes more to get the correct one. Bacon rock hard as if it had been in the bain marie for hours.

My meal was delicious, - the only problem we had was that the music was too loud and it is hard to hear each others conversation.

We spent $50 on pizza and it's was so bad we couldn't eat it, way undercooked and over priced

We sat outside in the garden tonight after being told it was fully booked inside. Candles lit, heaters booming and cute blankets provided to improve the atmosphere. First cafe in geelong we have found to have these blankets other than Melbourne cafes, which we love. Lovely service and food was great also! Will definitely be back

This was my first time at this place… when the food arrived it was
barely warm… not pleasant to eat… won’t be returning …

Really great cocktails with a special menu of employee created drinks for Thirsty Thursdays, the coffee is always exceptional & cool latte art as well. The chefs are incredibly talented and make amazing food too. Highly recommend popping in for something before going to the movies next door.

Nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The bar drinks were well priced and love the options of pizza or an in house menu.

Fabulous. Very impressed. Very attentive staff & good food though a bit pricey but probably on a par with other eateries.

Customer service was lovey but unfortunately food was extremely disappointing. Iced chocolate was half ice and not much milk. Wrap tasted old, I could only bring myself to eat half of it. Calamari was not cooked. Told waiter it was not very good and that we couldn’t eat much of it and she just said she would tell the chef. Don’t think I’ll eat here again. Waste of money

Always love dining here. Now that it is in waurn ponds it is a bit further away but still worth it. I had the calamari which is so tender. Pleasant service and always made to feel welcome. Will always go back.

Service is lacking - stood at the counter for 5 minutes as workers walked past without acknowledging our existence. Maybe they’re understaffed?

The food was very disappointing too, i should mention. Avoid the nachos and fried chicken burger. The nachos were bland (which we took home to add our leftover pork from the night before, can't believe i have to justify myself to the owner.) and the chicken burger was dry. There’s much better options around Geelong for the price.

To the owner who responded: The purpose of reviews is to provide an honest description of dining at your restaurant, the food and service were poor, hence the score. Sorry if it hurts to read, but compared to other cafes in the area who also have struggled due to covid (like the rest of Australia), the groove train is not a good option.

Had dinner here tonight! The vibe was high, staff laughing and smiling, food was amazing and booths comfortable. We received our drinks quickly and food not long after.
Only downside was no tiger beer on tap tonight for my boyfriend.
Will 100% be back for breakfast and to try the mudslide- saw one come out for another table and absolutely need that in my life
