Two nights at The George for NYE with 6 people. Everything was perfect. Restaurants very good waiters excellent and food exceptional.

The bed was completely sagging and the music could be heard all night long. The toilets downstairs were broken or full of vomit.

This is a kool venue with multiple different rooms that lead into an outdoor open well-lit alley area. The only negatives in my experience is that the bar is one of those places with sticky floors/benches so could perhaps use some additional cleaning. Also the outdoor area can get rather breezy so a heater or two would be nice.

Was asked to leave after 3 beer's because I was intoxicated, so I left came back 4 hour's later without having a drink and denied entry because I was still intoxicated, what a joke, maybe need to learn some common sense

By far the highlight of our Ballarat trip. Before setting foot inside the gaming area, we were awed by the well-preserved 1850’s building. The gaming area itself was well designed and spacious, and offered a decent selection of machines. Once you hit collect, be sure to spend some time by the ambient fireplace - if you’re lucky there might even be a movie on (for us, it was The Hobbit; upsettingly bad CGI but not the establishments fault)!

Perfectly clean and well set out rooms.
Check in was quick and the receptionist was particularly helpful with our booking which wasn't straight forward.
Was my second stay and I will be back

Staying here tonight. We cannot sleep for all the banging and carry of of swearing and noise we can hear outside and ownstairs. Who knows when that will end.
The hair-dryer in the room doesn't work. The frosted glass next to the toilet was clearly not cleaned and you can see what I assume is urine run marks and splatters from the other side as you come in.
Such a shame as the rest of the place is awesome. Location is perfect, hotel is a beautiful period building.

Very comfortable bed. Lovely room. My only complaint is we are early risers and wanted to get an early start for home but there was no way to exit the George. Or bill was all paid.

Comfortable, clean room. Modern renovation but still with the charm of an historic hotel. Great meals and helpful, friendly staff.

As good as it gets! We dined at The George and it was an excellent experience. The dining area is well laid out with plenty of space, and privacy in the booths. The food was fantastic. Our slight variation in the order was accommodated and the food was top notch. Particularly impressed by the serving sizes - very generous, especially the salad. The food itself was excellent. Service was great. Our host, Gary, was attentive, personable and efficient, and helped to make the experience enjoyable.

Staff did their job but certainly no above and beyond. Generally couldn't give a rat's if you spend you're money there or not.

Only here for dinner. Once again Ballarat locals (workers) are so helpful and friendly. The food was above average for a pup. Really well served and service was great too. Outdoor dining was well heated

Was booked in by my employer for a weeks secondment, but in future I will stay elsewhere. Was not warned about the functions (school dance, apparently) on the Wednesday AND Thursday night, and the excuse of "oh, it was only until 10pm" doesn't wash when you are working and would like some peace on a week night, not thumping base coming through your walls. Was met with indifference and outright rudeness by the staff ("so sad, too bad" was one comment), and the hotel tried to get out of meals being charged back to the business. I'll be asking my employer to find a more appropriate location next time.

We love The George and are regulars visiting from Canberra. Saturday night was marred by intruders breaching security and knocking on guest room doors at 1: 30am. Couldn’t reach the night manager but that was because they were chasing them out of the hotel. Appreciate very much the consideration shown to us on the bill. Even refused payment on mini bar bill. We will return despite this. Thanks to all the staff.

The hotel is very well located in the Ballarat CBD. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in a Standard Queen room (which in fact had a king bed) and it was quiet, spacious and very comfortable. We ate in the bistro/bar area for dinner and the cafe for breakfast, where the service was very good and prices were reasonable. A very pleasant one night stay.

Very happy with all aspects of our weekend stay, except for one major complaint. The nightclub noise made it impossible to sleep until around 3am. Thumping music could be heard from downstairs, which is unacceptable when guests are trying to sleep on the floor above.

Hi there I was refused to go in the night of the 25th because I had a digital license and under the vic legislation it said I was okay to go into a venue with a digital licence, unless I’m interstate (which I am) and there was no “$50,000” find mentioned in the legislation so I’m just wondering why you wouldn’t accept patrons who have a digital licence?

The lovely old architecture with a grand balcony overlooking the street was such a delight. We loved the sounds of nightlife humming away in the background while we slept in our super comfy bed with good pillows too. My sister who lives in Ballarat and is in a wheelchair came to visit us and our accessibility room was easy for her to navigate. The George’s central location and private carpark were a bonus.

We came to Ballarat from Melbourne for the Biennale exhibition and we stayed the night in the George Hotel and couldn't have been happier. The staff were friendly, free off street parking, central location and the room was very nice, clean and spacious. Will definitely stay again when we come into town.
