The General - Strath Creek

Just passing from Glenburn to Seymour, haven’t been that way for ages, was very surprised to see such a good looking place, decided to stop, shame we were a bit late and the kitchen was closed but the coffee was lovely. Will be going that way more often now that we know we can get a drink and food.

Gorgeous general store with a cafe that has a delicious menu. Loved the ambience and decor which made it feel so cozy. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to eat and relax before you keep going along on your journey

I dropped into The General Strath Creek for a coffee and a bite to eat. It's a mix of a general store, post office, restaurant, and bar. The place has a fantastic set-up and atmosphere (check out the pics), and the staff are really friendly. I was after something quick, so I got a reuben sandwich. I was expecting it to go in a sandwich press, but was pleasantly surprised to see it handed to a chef out back to property toast.best I've ever had. Coffee was excellent too, so good that I got another one for the road on the way out. I am looking forward to coming back with the family for a meal and drink. Highly recommended!

We had dinner at The general last night. It was VERY BUSY. But we were told 40 mins wait on our meals and it probably took 15 mins. Meals were reasonably priced and good quality. Reasonable size. Not a huge range on the menu, but it covered everyone. I had the veggie curry- YUM! Hubby had the beef burger - he was happy. No dessert menu yet.
However- they had the MOST MAGNIFICENT chai served in a pot. It was Devine! Thanks so much y’all! Great job! Your great reputation is growing and spreading. You know you’ve got a good thing when the locals are flocking to you.

Amazing Cafe the best food and atmosphere love it! The Pavilion and Old Settlement Architecture is stunning. The perfect 1.5 hr drive from the city, I highly recommend it to get your family and friends to meet especially over the holidays or on a weekend country road trip.

Beautiful new building and wonderful country aesthetic.
Unfortunately they didn't have a single dish on their main menu that catered towards vegetarians. Those who were able to order enjoyed what was on offer.

Stopped off here after a camping trip and had the best lunch! So fresh and delicious. Also a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. They even have bug spray out for those sitting outside Will definitely have to make a trip back just for the sausage rolls!

As a local. I been waiting for a long time for the general store open. I saw not disappointed. Great staff, great food beer on tap & takeaway beer as will. And the place looks great. How ever done the carpenter on this job had a very good eye. Eddys Towing Glenburn

Magnificent setting and attention to detail in both internal and external layout of the cafe/General Store.
Licensed cafe with beautiful outlook of the hills of Strath Creek. I settled for the cappuccino and beef/pepper pie before riding off through to Mt. Disappointment via the View of a Thousand Hills at Murchison Rd and Broadford- Flowerdale Road.

What an amazing find and a perfect half way stop from Geelong (Melbourne) to Mansfield
Not only are the staff very friendly and helpful
But the food!
Fresh, exciting and excellent quality
They also cater to food allergies extremely well (which I am personally grateful for)

This will be our place from now on every time we visit family in Mansfield
