The Doug Ellis Swimming Pool reviews
23Too expensive for its facility. Doug Ellis pool's annual fee is~$1200, which is really high compared to my previous rate in sydney's $800 for a 2 times larger, Olympic-standard pool.
Beautifully managed pool! Always sparkling & clean compared to others I have attended.
Took toddler to swimming lesson over the weekend, the instructor is fine, reception appears knowledgeable. There are baby change table in the change area which is handy to allow parents to change baby after class.
I used to love coming here, but this morning's experience was pretty average. No hot water in showers and the spa still isn't fixed to use, but I wasn't advised when I paid the extra. I'll probably be trying elsewhere from now on.
Duty manager Ryan is shocking, place needs a complete overhaul of their front of face employees, good way to lose loyal customers. Disgraceful.
Spa has not worked properly for 4 years who ever is in charge needs to be sacked. Tried after 2 years of cancelling membership and jets don’t even work. Got a refund never going back. Absolutely disgraceful
SLACK TO ORGANISE THE UPGRADE DAY AND TIME PRIOR THE TEST
My son has sibling and no one as a parent wants to return twice to the lesson different day, the first time ever in my life where i was attending another swimming lesson place and we were always getting the same date and time when they upgraded my kids.it's an input for Monash management prior the upgrade they are required to have a conversation with the parent whether the parent still wants to get the same date and time after they upgraded, this is ridiculous and wasting the parents' time attending the lesson in Doug Ellis Swimming Pool.
Very well maintained and clean. Has multiple lanes for different levels of swimmers. An active presence of a lifeguard at all times who also looks out for hazards on the footpath. Plenty of space and rooms to change.
Only complaint is the parking fee, which if you're just a part of the general public, costs upwards of $6 for 3 hours at the visitor car park. Everywhere else around the campus is capped at only half hour.
Sundays 4pm water polo training, one whole swimming pool full with them.
Sundays 12 to 1 pm better
Close and convenient while offering a quiet and usually uncrowded environment in which allows for a pleasant swim. The staff are also quite calm and nice, and not as strict/hard going to the swimmers. So overall pretty good!
Not told over phone that no 6 weeks payment and when there and tried go act like politician to and not letting me join even if it is their staff mistake.wasted one hour and was offered higher rate class as I had come with loads of money
I do lessons at this pool and the teacher is really great. The complex is really nice and it's great to have two pools, because it means it never gets so busy in one lane in one pool that it becomes seriously annoying. The prices are very reasonable. The only thing I don't like is that the pool at the back is really too cold - the one at the front is a perfect temperature but consequently often very busy. If they could change that I'd have no complaints whatsoever.
Took my kids for their first swim lessons here, and was not disappointed. The young girl was so friendly and made learning to swim fun! Will definitely continue to send my kids here.
If you are a woman and enjoy going to the sauna.please AVOID this place. On several occasions I’ve felt extremely uncomfortable sitting in the sauna as it is infested with a gang of close knit men who have very inappropriate loud conversations In a colourful language with each other. No regard of the fact that there are others in the sauna too. No towels or wrist bands required for this lot. Staff DO NOT make any checks (I was there the other evening and not a single check was made by the person on duty for the 45 minutes I was there)
I have made a couple of complaints about this to the management and understand that several others have too. No changes have been made. The management chooses to close one eye to this situation.
It’s a shame that being a woman in this day and age, in this country, I have to put up with this nonsense. I can’t enjoy an evening out at the pool and sauna without feeling that I have walked into a men’s locker room.
Super cool place!
Nice and clean facilities. Good staff.
Swimming classes are amazing too.
Great experience so far.
Small place, but has all you need. Clean environment. Recently introduced free lockers! $5.90 a swim is reasonable. They sometimes even have 12 swims for 9! I feel double price for use of spa/steam room/sauna is a bit excessive, but it's really a lovely facility. Would come here every day if I lived closer.
Excellent pool for lap swimming. Not recommended for families. Parking is a challenge as it's shared with uni students.
Very good water quality. Change room and shower facilities are new the clean. Staff are friendly.
Parking has improved with the introduction of new spaces, 500 m walk but still better than before!
Nice and clean facilities but can get real hot in there as they really blast the heating in and out of the pool
