The Deck est 2013 reviews
62Trivia on a Thursday night is the best way to bring in the weekend! The host, Mitch, is way better than the last guy.
Went to the deck last year with a large booking. The whole time we were there we kept getting told by the staff that we had to be out by a certain time because there was another booking after us. This deadline kept getting pushed because the next booking (s) didn’t show up, until eventually we were asked to leave so that an even later booking could have our table. We were perfectly happy and spending a lot of money there but the manager was totally unhelpful and made no effort to accommodate us on some of the other empty tables, which wasn’t appreciated given we were the only booking for the afternoon that actually showed up. Food was also average but the manager was unbearable.
Worst place. I got turned away for no reason on a Sat night. The Cheeky Squire across the road is way better with a relaxed vibe.
Before checking our IDs the security rudely told us we had to be 24 to get in. Do not recommend this place
The Deck has all the possibilities of a venue to impress yet it fails dismally on just about all accounts. “DJ’s” that play the same songs each week, and should be more appropriately called “mixtape players” dance floor has a large television playing American football (why?), terrible cover band on repeat downstairs. Lift your game people. This venue could bring something totally unique to the area and yet it manages to feel like a dive bar on King Street.
Waited in line for over an hour just to be told by the security that two of our friends can’t get in because they’ve had to much to drink when they hadn’t even had any.
This is after speaking to security earlier and him not saying anything to us about anything or doing or saying anything wrong.
Get better security guards with less ego looking for a power trip.
Bloody pathetic
Won’t ever be coming back after years of coming here
Food was great.but they packed us in like sardines, no ventilation, no clear walkway to restrooms.and I caught covid there.
Good food then a DJ comes on both levels on Friday and Saturday nights.had a great time. With both new and classic dance hits being played.
If I could give a 0 I would. Went to celebrate my birthday on the Saturday that just past with a group of my friends. Before even saying hello to the security and giving our ID’s we were immediately told 24 years and older to enter… Although most of us weren’t 24 but two of our friends were you instantly denied entry just by the way we looked. Discrimination at its best. If anything I think your bar should display that the venue is 24 years and older before people like myself and my friends waste our time to just get knocked back. Tbh we would of spent over $400 too so jokes on you
Me and colleague were very rudely turned away due to wrongly being grouped with a group of females who had turned up in front of us. I wish I could give less the 1 star as this experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth
-1/5 stars
Food was ok but could of had more veg bit on the small side staff didnt know there menu's not a great place for people with disabilities that cant walk step overall was ok
Great cocktails, and friendly service.
It would be nice if there were more vegan options on the menu. But the Pumpkin & Rocket salad was nice.
Wanted to take my photo and scan licence in order to eat a counter meal. Fascist establishment.
It's bad enough to go through this covid passport rubbish, then also this venue wants a drivers licence and a photo just to have lunch, I won't be going back.
The Deck has all the makings of a really great iconic institution. The food is really delicious. The venue claims under 28's on a Friday night. It's quite possible to think you may have stumbled into a crèche at times.ahem.in Winter, if they were to make their actual deck freezing and wet proof they'd definitely get more patrons. A weekly clean of the windows would probably improve clarity for the ability to see that their staff ought to have more manners. Dress codes should be enforced for class and elegance after 9pm. Whether a 21 year old boy or 68 year old man, the plumbers crack, kid like sneakers and baseball caps are unsightly and concering. Men, dear men, please dress for women, we always make the effort Beautiful women, please, please, dress for yourselves. They bouncers need to stop keeping the female toilet doors open.it's just rude and creepy. If The Deck really wants to lift it's game to match it's bar prices, be more select with patrons.stick to your age limits and dresscode! Bouncers! Be way less heavy handed! You're all trigger happy! Please bring some real R&B.it's the SAME session EVERY TIME we've been. CHANGE UP Sunday sessions with eclectic music.jazz, blues, swing, 50's 60's 70's 80's etc.a bit of fun, culture, class. Give your patrons a really fun night and a reason to return because The Deck is fantastic, not because you're all thats kind of around. I mean this with a loving
Not my favourite place to eat, the flathead tails had too much batter, however, the chips were delicious! To be fair, others with me enjoyed their meals.
The security would benefit from some training. In my experience the security staff appear to be bored and try to create drama by antagonising patrons. Regressive and unprofessional atmosphere.
The duck ragu was delicious! Staff are super lovely and very attentive. Will definitely be going back.
Overpriced on everything. Poor quality food, poor quality drinks and dirty. Security was rude and the bar was still serving alcohol to already heavily intoxicated people. Make sure you wipe your shoes otherwise you can't go in.that's a must for the business apparently.
Food was okay. As a chef, its frustrating when the food comes out fast to ease the kitchen, at the expense of the food being cooked to perfect. Ie not cooked properly and taken out of fryer/grill to quick.
It's pub food - yep and the menu is good. Taste is there if cooked well.
Espresso martinis are hand made and perfect.
