We just stayed here for a week and it was just fabulous, for what it is. However, we have stayed here previously so knew what to expect. The hotel does an amazing job of doing exactly what it says it will do. The front desk staff couldn't be more helpful and the rooms and lovely and exactly like the photo's. But, you do need to know there is no room service and you share the lifts with the apartment complex which at times can be annoying. However there is a popular cafe in the foyer and I tried the Korean BBQ also in the complex this time and it was excellent. The location is great because you can just walk to the shops to get whatever you need, I will definitely stay again.

Perfect reception! Very friendly employees! Parking is Very Confusing! There is no arrow or exit indication! You keep driving the car, going up and down floors without knowing which exit is! Swimming pool ok. The building has around 40 floors, but the hotel only uses the first 6. Taking the elevator is an ordeal! Many residents live on high floors and if they go to the ground floor and go down 1 floor, someone comes in and goes to the 35th, the elevator goes first to the 35th and only then to the basement! This is absurd! After I discovered (no one at the hotel informed me) that there is an elevator that only serves the 6 floors of the hotel! Too confusing for vacation! I won't stay here anymore!

I truly enjoyed this place though it wasn't ideal location I did have an absolutely wonderful and amazing time

Exceeded my expectations for this price point. Very clean and friendly staff. Only complaint is the shower - there’s a door, but the water will come out regardless due to the design

We had such a wonderful experience at The Chen Melbourne. The staff (especially Jeremy) went above and beyond for our wedding anniversary and our inaugural visit to Melbourne. We were delightfully surprised by the hospitality from The Chen's Team and will definitely recommend to anyone who wants a restful and meaningful hotel experience. Heated pool with panoramic views of Melbourne was awesome, we only wished we could have stayed longer.

Stayed here for one night for business and was shocked to find hallways full of rubbish, carpets and walls dirty, and mold in the bathroom. You're in need of major renovation and better cleaning practices or filtering of guests that stay. I'd have been more comfortable in a city alleyway. I'm sorry i trusted your advertising. I would not give even 1 star and have been to motels that are better kept, without the price tag. No words can describe just how bad it was!

I recently stayed here for work. The theme and ascetic of the hotel was good. It felt clean and had all of the essentials you would expect from a decent place to stay.

The pool was located on the other side of the hotel lobby on the 2nd tower and was too cold to swim in (so I learned after walking all the way through in shorts and a towel).

Personally I'm not a huge fan of Box Hill itself and so this review will be one sided. There is only so much China Bar I can consume in one week and being one of the main train stations, you have to contend with the masses before/after work.

The staff here were lovely however and I honestly had no issues with the room itself. A solid/safe choice if looking for somewhere in Box Hill.

Parking is bit nightmare on busy period. Hallway carpet is dirty since multi functionality hotel /residential/ commercial restaurants. Hotel is providing cutlery/bowls dishes, capsule coffee, 2 basin sinks, shame no microwave. Very close to asian restaurants, train, trams, shopping center.

Checkin on 21/1/23. Worst customer service ever, not efficient at all, and totally not professional. Everything thing was missing and the front desk didn't look like they care at all. Will definitely not recommend unless you want to experience the most unprofessional hotel service in the world

I am so grateful and so proud to stay in a beautiful hotel. The staff are so beautiful and kind with good hearts. Felt welcome as soon as I entered. Friendly smalls. I am so proud to be here and I am so proud of the staff of this hotel. I am truly blessed to be around such beautiful staff. I would definitely come back here again. I strongly recommend coming here.

Very adequate rooms for a business trip. New, clean and tidy. Some hip restaurants downstairs too

Value for money if you’re escaping the city for the suburbs but need a direct train line in. Beautiful pool area that rarely gets used at non peak hours. Busy gym that is always used

But hotel management/systems communication and coordination with staff is not always the best, you may need to repeat yourself quite a few times.

The bathroom leaks from the shower so be careful not to slip.

There are restaurants downstairs which produce a strong smell at dining times so you will need to keep the windows shut

The noise from wind is super loud and constant so play some background noise if that is distracting or hard to sleep with

I stayed 4 nights without toilet papers even though i called twice. U do the math. The one star was for the 1st three nights which were perfect. What happened!

The company I work for paid for a room and when I got there they required a deposit. I'm not rich and literally don't have the money for the deposit. Would have thought this would have been sorted out. But this cost was not made clear in the booking. I told them I don't have the 100 dollars otherwise I won't have food and they said I can't stay in the paid for room and my company won't be refunded.

Now I have to sleep elsewhere for a night while my company sorts it out. Terrible way to host an interstate traveller. Lucky I have a friend in Melbourne and will be staying there tonight. I can't recommend d the chen.

I cannot recommend this hotel & staff highly enough. We requested a late checkout and were able to leave the car in the car park much longer. Both was no extra cost. As an Accor member, we received a lovely treat with a note. It’s these little things that go a long way. Thank you!

Staff were nice, however room not so good l paid for deluxe king on floor 5 RM 507. The moment l came out of the lift to this floor l was welcomed by a terrible smell in the hallway, the room it'sself smelt of cigarettes, the bath room had some mold in it. What a waste of money. Please get the carpets steam cleaned the smell is not pleasant at all. Left with a blocked nose due to the overpowering cigarette smell in the room.

Stayed here lat week for a week. Price is reasonable. Room neat and tidy. Great bed, great shower. And its on the 109 tram direct to city. Fairly modern.
What else could you possibly want…. Perhaps a floor higher than level 2?

I’m making a complaint here as I couldn’t find any email or phone number on the hotel website. I extended my stay till 2 pm by giving them a call from my room last night and got confirmed. But when I got back to the hotel at around 1: 30 pm I was told that they had packed my stuff and put my undies in a transparent plastic bag. I am very uncomfortable and very unhappy that my personal belongings being touched. The receptionist told me that they didn’t receive my extension information before they took my stuff. But I believe that it is very unprofessional to touch customers’ belongings under that situation. I asked if I was still charged with the extension fee and the answer was yes, at least half. Although in the end they didn’t charge it, I still feel angry. If this is the hotel policy, I suggest a change.

Stated here for the first time for 4 nights.
It was very easy access from car park to hotel.
The front staff were very kind and understanding.
The rooms are amazing clean and well organised. Only thing missing in my view was kitchenette needs a microwave it has everything else.
The pool area on the roof was immaculately kept.

Had a wonderful stay at The Chen. Situated in a convenient location in Box Hill, easily accessible parking and spacious rooms at a reasonable price. Staff were helpful too.
