The Cascades reviews
30Beautiful spot not too far away from Melbourne CBD. Great place to swim, super chilly water! Nice walk but be careful of snakes, we saw a tiger snake while on the track!
Beautiful landscape. Have been multiple times, gets busy in the summer but you can visit all year around. Fun for families but be careful on the rocks. W location.
Great water and good to take a dip on a hot day. Be mindful that the rocks are slippery in places. Plenty of parking available.
The Cascades is a beautiful spot on your way out of Melbourne for a longer journey. It isn’t worth to just drive to see the Cascades, better combine it with another tourist attraction.
The last kilometer is on an unsealed road, easy to take, just go a bit slowly.
It was great fun jumping from one rock to another. It will work both for adults as well as for kids, just make sure they don’t end up in the water.
Amazing family friendly place for a cool dip in a fresh water swimming hole. Absolutely loved our visit
A must-do in the hot weather. Cool off in the natural pools as the river water flows over the rocks. The rocks are blistering hot in the sun and the approach path and steps are in disrepair and not universally accessible, so bring decent footwear and towels to sit on. Would be five stars if Council fixed the path.
Nice spot for a swim or putting your feet in the water.can get very busy on hot day's.
Lovely out of the way spot, calm and peaceful, dirt road up to a small carpark, easy walk to cascades. Not suitable for people with wheelchairs or walkers Not busy when we were there although it might be in summer
Dream location feels very sacred. The rock formations are magical. Rocks can be slippery so be careful
Read up on the reviews before we came and found out it was a great place to have a dip on a hot day. It was cold and rainy when we visited but still a great place for a dip. We recommend Tzatziki or French onion.
Stopped in here for a dip on a hot day. Lovely scenic spot to cool off, and sufficiently low key to not be too busy.
The rapids are a surprise and offered us a place of relaxation for a time before heading in to Kyneton. We went in a hot day. Bring sunscreen. The tree cover near benches is still young and shade was in short supply. My housemate loved dipping into a pool there.
Beautiful place to visit. Semi secluded, but at the same time brimming with that beautiful nature that only Australia can provide:)
A great little place to have a dip. Lovely cool water and not overly busy. There are some picnic tables but no amenities so make sure you visit a toilet before going.
Very nice spot for family trip, rocks are very slippery so have to be cautious, have different spots to enjoy water on sunny day, good for kids, easy walking distance from car park (there’s not a proper car park) no toilets we had great time with 4yo and 18 months
Great relaxing spot on a hot day, paddle your feet and listen to the water running over the rocks.
Amazing.on a hot day.absolute heaven! Unfortunately not much shade around so the water is pretty much the only relief.
Beautiful afternoon ruined at a beautiful place by a guy in a ride on mower on Christmas day - driving around mowing on the public property. This made life absolutely miserable for us all with the dreadful racket and more miserable for my family with pollen allergies as he stirred up our hay fever. I have attached a photo of the mower person. Shame. Many years ago no one would ever dream of using a mower on Christmas day.
Picked a prime time to visit after the rain. The water was flowing and everything was green. Overall the water fall isn't huge perhaps a little underwhelming but the unique rock formation surrounding grassy area and picnic benches overlooking the water make for perfect day trip nature fix.
Could do with some public toilets but there is a park 2 mins up the road across from the holden museum with a playground and toilets.
