The Button Shop - Malvern reviews
17Lovely people in this shop Everything you need you can find here! Knitting & Knitting
What a delightful experience I had with Karen & George. I learned George has been running this shop for the last 45 years. And Karen was most polite and wonderful. This shop has the most beautiful and extensive button collection.
The best shop in Melbourne! You can find just about anything you need, great variety and staff are so very much helpful. If you haven't visited The Button Shop what are you waiting for you'll love it.
TERRIBLE experience!
I came to the shop (@3pm) for the zip slider #3. As I looked through the zips, and could not find it (there were all numbers but #3), however I have found two packs, where I was unable to see the numbers due to the package. With the hope in my mind I approached a Shop assistant with the intention to get the answer: if she new what zip sliders numbers those were. Yet, not only she looked at me from the start as if I was her worse nightmare but when I asked her a question she cut me off with an anger and irritation in her voice saying she had no idea, all zips are there! I was shocked and tried calmly with a smile to explained her what I wanted but she even did not let me finish! She kept saying angrily: 'I do not know! I do not know! I even had no idea the had the numbers! ' I said to her: 'This what I was trying to explained you but. " I even have not finished my phrase as that person again exclaimed with the anger: 'I do not know! I do not know! I do not know! '. I put two pack of zips on the display and told her that she was extremely rude. As I made my way out I still heard that woman: 'Sorry, I do not know! I do not know! ' Even that word ;sorry' came out of that person extremely irritating. I have left this Button Shop stressed and shocked how it was possible to treat customers so badly? ! I have NEVER come across to such treatment, especially from the person, who supposed to help customers and have a positive attitude all the time. At the end of the day, that woman (a shops assistant) has a job because of the customers. Very disappointing.
Old school haberdashery shop of the type you don't find much any more. I bought sock yarn & a knitting pattern. They also have a great range of buttons, ribbons & trimmings, plus some fabric, and sewing & knitting accessories. Friendly & knowledgeable service. Highly recommended.
So friendly and helpful - I love buying yarn from this shop:) The owner really knows her yarn. Highly recommend.
Absolute waste of time.
Rock up Wed, around midday, to get some buttons made and the shop is 'closed for the rest of the day' despite being advertised as open.
Rock up Thurs, to get some buttons made, and we're told to come back the next day to pick them up. This is a 5 minute job with the right equipment, something they advertise.
Rock up Friday, to pick up supposed made buttons, and they tell us they can't do the job. One look at the fabric reveals that they didn't even try.
That's 3 hrs of my life I'll never get back.
First time to visit The Button Shop today and i found the lady behind the counter i spoke to not only super helpful but able to find what i was after straight away and very pleasant to boot. Definitely will be making a stop there again next time i am in Melbourne.
So many buttons to choose from and I definitely found what I was looking for.
The display is very good and buttons easily found.
The staff were lovely and very patient as I took my time to choose the perfect buttons.
Thank you.
A fascinating place with buttons and buttons and more buttons! Shelves full of buttons and knitting wool. I'm sure to find something to replace my lost button here. I'll be back now that I've discovered you. A place to add to your resource list.
Stumbled across this hidden gem in Malvern. A wide range of Haberdashery, beautifully displayed in old fashioned cabinets. A great range of buttons, wool and craft needs together with great customer service. Well worth a visit!
Visited a while ago to have some covered buttons made. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even made me a sample button so I could see the finished product. Turnaround time was absolutely fantastic, I ordered 50 buttons at 11mm for $1 each and they had them done within 2 business days. I had my buttons made from a polyester based velvet (purchased elsewhere) and they turned out brilliantly.
Lovely shop with old fashioned customer service. I come here for all my knitting/crochet *and* sewing needs. Such a wide range of stock- you just never know what you might find.
Given that a customer must almost beg to know the price of buttons, my first visit will be my last. A friend visiting from Perth was keen to see this establishment.what an disappointing and embarrassing experience.
Wow. Huge range of buttons and other haberdashery items as well as knitting yarns and patterns.
Huge range. Lovely assistant. Cafe / knitting area always in use. Obviously a great gathering place for the local crafters.
Would go here before Lyncraft up the road. Nicer and more knowledgeable staff here. Better quality and selection as well.
