The Barkly Bistro Bar & Accommodation

We spent three nights at the Barkly, great staff, super friendly, nice quaint rooms and fantastic meals, highly recommended!

This is a very budget style accommodation, with separate bathrooms down the hall. The room was neat & clean, but could have been more comfortable with a ceiling fan for abit of relief from the Summer heat. The service was very friendly & welcoming. The food was of excellent quality & it far exceeded my expectations. The place has a lovely homely & inviting atmosphere.

Absolutely phenomenal place for a feed! Got the chicken burger 11/10. Even snagged a few bites of a parmi. Recommend stopping in anytime you’re passing through!

The check in experience was welcoming and warm with Rob. The room was lovely and clean. Let’s skip ahead 10 hours to be greeted at the bottom of the grand staircase after a sleepless night to be accused of deception and dishonesty regarding reports of a dog being upstairs. Unfounded accusations of having my dog in the accommodation when he is safe, secure and provided for within a equiped vehicle for this purpose and this purpose alone. I’m not angry I’m disappointed

My stay was absolutely amazing! Staff were so friendly and welcoming and accommodating to everything that would take place around them. I enjoyed my stay with my mum so much we had a great night and the atmosphere was spectacular. Location is perfect and the room was cozy and homely. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re passing through or even staying the night. I felt very safe and looked after!

My partner and I stopped for a night during our little road trip, we are glad we did. The Barkly Bistro Bar & Accommodation is a great spot to stay. The staff was friendly and nice. We were running late for dinner, and the girl suggested taking the order over the phone to have the food ready for us once there. The room was great and the shared bathroom was clean and tidy.

Stopped for a family meal at The Barkly on our way through Ararat. There was plenty of room for us in the dining room out the back. Live music happening. Great food and not expensive. Excellent friendly service.

Great traditional hotel that has been modernised but still retains it's history. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Hosts were fantastic and upgraded us to a bigger room even though I was the one that messed up the booking and booked too small a room. Definitely recommend!

I stayed at the Barkly Hotel for a 6 night stay during February. I had a fabulous stay whilst exploring the Grampian mountain region and this was a perfect location for a base. All the staff are extremely kind, friendly and you get very well looked after. The accommodation is great, a nice spacious room and comfortable large bed. The shared bathroom is no problem at all and the coffee machine in the lounge comes in very handy! The food is sensational, the breakfast alone is amazing and you only have to read other reviews, superb! I had dinner each night also other than Sunday which was closed. I tried many menu options and all were equally wonderful with a great selection of beers and a fabulous Shiraz! Sandy and Rob are the nicest of hosts and I really hope to return there again on my next visit to Australia. Wonderful service all round and excellent value for money. Thankyou Sandy and Rob.

Beautiful venue. Don't be detered by the price, because you will pleasantly surprised by the venue. The food and host's are amazing, I recommend the Barkley to all.

Utterly lovely. The room was very comfortable and really well appointed for a country pub, and quiet at night too, which you don't often find. The food, the food was magnificent, and with a cooked breakfast thrown into the cost of the room, it was outstanding value.

If you're heading to Ararat, and need a top notch joint to stay that won't break the bank, you just can't go past The Barkly.

Comfy beds and a great breakfast. Traveled with my vegan partner who appreciated that the chef actually knew what vegan meant and made sure the brekky was vegan for her. Great place to stay!

The owners did a very good job of keeping the old charm yet providing the amenities we needed. It does have shared bath but they have a number of showers/toilets so there is no issue. Very clean and an incredible breakfast included! Perfect for one night visiting the grampians on a budget.

Lovely place. Friendly proprietors, outstanding breakfast included with the rooms. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The bar has a solid selection of craft beer and a large selection of local wines. The weekend we stayed they had engaging live music from a local musician in the bar. Great place for a get away and very good value.

What a fantastic place to stay! We travelled as a group of friends and we were met with such a warm welcome. The rooms are comfortable and the service is exceptional; friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious. Such great value for money and we’ll definitely return. Thanks to Sandy, Dan and their wonderful staff.
