The American Doughnut Kitchen reviews
61If you find a big queue of people in queen Victoria market it’s for American Jam doughnut. After a long wait when you take the first bite of fresh hot jam doughnut you will not regret waiting in the long queue.
We were here 5 years ago and came back this year hoping to try these delicious donuts again. We were lucky and the stand is still there. Although we're not usually donut fans, these are very special. Simply unbeatable in terms of both taste and juicy consistency. And if the queue seems long at first: the wait is worth it and goes faster than you think!
The service is also friendly and the atmosphere at the Queen Victoria Market is simply lovely. Simply a must in Melbourne!
The best Jam Doughnuts in town. Always have to stop before leaving the market. The long lines are worth standing in. The lines move pretty quickly as the team are very efficient in serving the customers. Definitely recommend visiting the Queen Vic Markets just for these delicious Jam Doughnuts.
American Doughnut Kitchen is definitely worth the wait for their mouthwatering jam doughnuts. The doughnuts are a delightful treat that justifies any queue with their perfect combination of a crisp exterior and fluffy interior. The jam filling is generously oozing with flavor, making every bite a delectable experience.
Victoria Market is a must-visit attraction for tourists in Melbourne, and it is also a large traditional market where many locals visit. The American Donut Kitchen, a donut stall at the entrance of the market, is the iconic delicacy of Victoria Market!
The small stall only has one item, which is a donut wrapped in raspberry jam. It is freshly fried, hot, and sprinkled with sugar. As it is winter in the southern hemisphere, this donut is really delicious. Quite healing.
In terms of taste, the bread is quite soft, and the raspberry jam filling is very rich. However, like most European and American desserts, the jam filling is so sweet that your teeth will tremble. Coupled with the sugar on the outside, it is really delicious. It's sweet on top of sweetness. I can't say it's not delicious, but I really can't stand the sweetness.

American Donut Kitchen has a long queue in front of its small stall. However, because the items are single, the meal delivery is very efficient. It only takes about 10 minutes to queue up.

Hot jam doughnut is so delicious. No wonder there’s a long queues. Although I was waiting for less than 10mins.
The line is long but it moves quickly so don’t be deterred by it. Since they’re so busy, the doughnuts are super fresh. They’re also pretty big so you can probably share a bag between 3-4 people. A bag of 5 doughnuts cost $10.
Very satisfied with the mouthful of warm sweet jam during the winter morning.
Doughnuts were really soft and fluffy, the sugar gives the crunch in the mouth.
Love it!
Piping hot donuts! Love the filling jam. Its good to have it sitting down while watching the crowd in the market. Keep coming back for the donuts everytime I come to Melbourne since I was thirteen. Now I’m 37. Its a must-have!
PS: Its better to order online like I did. Skip the queue!
At the Vic market waiting in line for doughnuts.
This is legit the only reason I’m here.
This is mat leave.
This is freedom.
This is joy.
Located in the QVM parking lot between the market and food hall.the que was quiet long but very fast since they only have 1 menu. Jelly Doughnut, 5pcs for 10 dollar.
I love the crunchy donuts when its fresh and they use granulated sugar to coat the donut.
Richtig gute amerikanische Doughnuts! Die Füllung mit der Marmelade ist lecker, fruchtig und nicht zu süß. Auch preislich sehr fair. 5 Stück für 7,50 AUD. Das Warten lohnt sich auf alle Fälle.
It tasted really good because they made it fresh.
I placed my orders online so i didn’t have to join the queue.
I bought some jam for my father for his birthday. He was born and bred in Melbourne though now lives in Queensland. 81 years later, whenever we talk about Melbourne or donuts, Dad always talks about the donuts from the Vic markets. So I thought this would be the next best thing and he loves it. Brings back so many memories for him. Thank you.
Always buy them, the last couple of times you are SKIMMING on the jam. There is hardly any jam in them.
Well the price keeps rising but the size of the doughnuts have decreased dramatically! But still the taste is amazing
Delicious donut!
We've been going there for years. But recently disappointed with the jam filling. The filling was less and less every week. Are you trying to cut cost?
Super delicious hot, jam-filled donuts. Worth the queue. Does not taste as good when they are cold. If you can't finish, consider not getting a set
A must visit for anyone who’s in Melbourne. There was a line but it moved very quickly as the service was efficient. The doughnuts are made in a cute little van parked inside the queen Victoria markets. You can get 5 for $7.50. So fresh and soft and squishy and chewy - the dough was unlike any other jam donut I’ve had. Wish there was more jam in the donuts though.
Hot jam donuts

: Relive your childhood memory with every bite. These Hot Jam Donuts are a classic of Queen Victoria Market. The line’s always long, but I was lucky enough to only have waited for 1-2 minutes since I went on a rainy day (dedication I’ve been trying to get these donuts 4-5 times already).
️: These donuts were heavenly. They were so fluffy and fragrant. And despite being covered with sugar, they weren’t overly sweet. Absolutely loved it! Best have when hot but still amazing when cold.
