Great wine and atmosphere however service is such a mixed bag. Sometimes attentative, a lot of the time the staff are dissociated from the needs of the patrons, often caught up in their own conversations instead of serving.

Really nice venue, has a lot of potential if the drinks selection was better. The Pinot Noir wine during my first visit was good, but on my second visit the Negroni cocktails we ordered were average. Overall not good value for money unless you’re stopping by for a wine.

For those who are bored of the usual wine selection

There will invariably be a couple on the next table on a first date which is always fun!

Best kept secret in Melbourne! Exceptional experience all round. I have been here many times with friends and family and the atmosphere is unmatched. The vibe is great and not mention the wines are crazy good. By the glass wines change all the time and the by bottle wines makes up one of the best selections in Melbourne. They have a cute outdoor area and fire place area that make it super cozy in winter and summer. I also cannot stress enough how lovely the staff are. They all seem to be very well versed in wine but if you ask they will give you great recommendations and a basic education in what it means to drink wine well. The menu is always good when I go and they have events that feature menus paired with the wine. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn about wine in a friendly environment.

Attended this wine bar last week with a group of work friends and left disappointed with some extremely rude service which I've never encountered in Melbourne. It resulted in the whole group leaving and not wanting to return. Such a shame as the venue is nice and quaint with a good selection of wines. Will not return nor recommend.

Have been here before and loved it however lastnight was some of the rudest customer service I have ever experienced. To start the night a glass was shattered with pieces falling in my hair, down my top - of course accidents happen but no apology. We felt for the whole night we were putting our wait staff out by asking for water and other drinks. Twice in a row our wines were poured unevenly and quite stingy pours to be honest - We brought this to her attention and she commented one of our other pours was generous and just walked off!? As we went to pay another wait staff very rudely asked my friend to move her pram out of the way, made us all feel very uncomfortable. We mentioned this as we paid and had a cider taken off the bill (cheapest thing ordered all night) and the staff member really didn’t seem to care that we were made to feel so awful. Not sure they will even care about this review but we won’t be returning. Such a shame as I did love this place and can see other positive reviews, we just got unlucky with the rude customer service that ruined an otherwise lovely night.

Used to love coming to the alps but unfortunately the service & attitude has really dropped. Workers standing around behind the bar msging on their phones. Super basic cheese board & really stingy pours. Disappointed. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

We had a fantastic evening in 'The Cabin'. The food and wine selection was spot on and Stef and the team did a fabulous job ensuring we had everything we needed to enjoy a great meal with friends. We will definitely be back and I couldn't recommend the venue more.

Terrific little wine bar! The Alps is what we call a 'proper' wine bar — meaning, unlike others that feel like a shop with a few tables— this is so much more. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff, great wines and a small but excellent selection of food plates. We loved it.

Even if you are not a wine drinker or don't know much about wine, you can still enjoy a glass of wine peacefully at the Alps Wine Shop & Bar.

• Recommendation: My friend and I asked for a wine recommendation. The staff brought us her recomendations to try. Thanks to her service, we could select wine easily.

• Nice food: Ordered oyster, bread, and Calabrese sausage & pickles. They were yum.

• Cosy place: When I visited last Saturday around 8pm. It was not too loud or quiet. I also enjoyed the inviting/warm interior.

Over priced bar with average atmosphere. Staff not at all engaging. Tiny food menu. Opposite an Officeworks on a busy road. Would not recommend.

Fabulous Southfield wine bar. Stunning wine selection, super friendly staff, nil pretensions. Complimented by a fine charcuterie and cheese selection.

This place is fantabulous. They have great service and the selection of reds was amazing (recommend the French GSM and Barossa Shiraz). They have a small courtyard out back which was great for a sunny afternoon.

I had so much fun here. Great music and nice staff. Only downside is the portions on the antipasto board are very small for what you pay. Well worth going!

The sommelier, John Paul (?), enhanced my beautiful experience with this bar. Enjoyed all the unique/obscure wines, the vibe and the depth of knowledge of John! Candy shop for wine lovers:)

Cosy, comfortable, the best atmosphere and friendly staff with amazing knowledge of a staggering choice of wine. (beer and the hard stuff too, if that's your thing)
