That Greek Tavern reviews
32Went here with my family to celebrate a birthday. Could not fault any part of it. Food was delicious and despite our best efforts, we couldn’t finish it all! The staff were so friendly and accomodating. Thank you for a wonderful experience
GREAT GREEK SPOT. Authentic Greek, true family atmosphere, amazing staff. Would recommend to everyone!
Always excellent
I left a tip on the credit card but then there was a surcharge on top of that so I won’t leave a tip in the future
This is the best dining experience when it comes to Greek food that I have EVER had. The staff were fantastic and so friendly, the food was served in a timely fashion and was utterly incredible and AUTHENTIC (I will be thinking of those lamb cutlets for the rest of my life), the restaurant itself was stunning and had a lovely atmosphere - everything was brilliant quality. Thanks so much to the team!
Our favourite Greek restaurant which never disappoints. Brilliant food, icy cold beers and service which is top class
Highly recommend this restaurant! Delicious authentic Greek food at a very reasonable price / extremely generous portions. The staff were so lovely and the service was amazing. So happy we found this great little local. Will be back! It’s also BYO!
You have to go here! Food was authentic and delicious! Generous portions and lovely staff! Highly recommend! We will be going back again very soon!
Absolutely incredible quality! I have not had Greek food this good in years!
Calamari and octopus was incredibly fresh.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating for all needs. Venue was very clean too. We went for a birthday party and could not have had a better experience.
We went with the set menu and we're not able to finish it but the best part was, we had it packed and could take it home.
Highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back.
Second time here and remain suitably impressed! Decor, vibe and staff remind me of being in a tavern in Greece. Both meat (platter) and seafood (calamari and snapper) cooked to perfection. Everyone couldn’t stop snacking on the moorish whitebait either!
Cannot describe in words how amazing this place is. Quality in food, service, and atmosphere. Our waiter Grigori was very helpful! Felt like home here. Highly recommend this place. Will be back!
I mean it’s good food but my god is expensive $12 for a small bowl of chips you could get for $2 from the fish and chip shop, $40 for a plate of salad bread and dip with only 2 skewers of meat.
Loved their dips platter and fresh baked bread, extraordinary. Great service from the house too.
Would've loved to try a few items on their menu but they had run out.
Best Greek restaurant Ive had in the south east so far.
Everything fresh and there gyros is tasty AF
Great atmosphere and delicious food, very friendly and attentive services, we really enjoyed our dinner, thank you very much
Great Food. Great Service. Great Music.
Side Note: The rizzogallo (rice pudding) was amazing.
Really fresh calamari, the hostess was really friendly, and the price was spot on. We will definately be back. My friend is always on a "no something" diet and they accommodated her with no problems.
Oh. My. God. I may have passed another gall stone shortly after eating here, but the food is amazing. Great atmosphere, very clean and the service is top notch. 5 out of 5 quickezes.
One of the better Greek restaurants in the Eastern suburbs (not that there are many bad ones). Worth travelling a bit further to come here.
Years ago, this place used to be what was then, my favourite Greek restaurant in Melbourne, called Dips. Now it's replaced with That Greek Tavern, and I thought I'd give it a try and see what it's like there now as a whole new place. The aesthetics are the same for the most part, though freshened up a lot, and nice and clean. It's inviting and the staff greet you warmly and take you to your table promptly.
The menu is fairly extensive for entrees, with the mains a little bit more limited. A lot of meat platters and the usual fare. Prices seem a bit steep, but when you see the food come out, you know you're getting value.
I had the Whitebait for my entree and they were really good. There are heaps, so you could easily share them. I shared the chicken platter for main, and I have never, ever had chicken so succulent before. It was sooooo good, that there was not a shred caught between my teeth anywhere (I had no other use for my straw like I usually do elsewhere, lol). It was so moist and tender and cooked perfectly in a beautiful marinade. The others had lamb and said it was perfect and not in the least fatty. We shared a bowl of chips for the table (four of us) and it was ample.
The service was friendly, and the food came out fast. The music gave the night a nice atmosphere and yes, there's value for money. Would I come back again and recommend it to people? You bet. It'd be good for mid size groups of people or even for parties of two-four. Parking is easy and if you love Greek food, I'm sure you'll love it here too!
