Ten Square Cafe

I never write reviews but had to for this place. Nowhere near the best cafe in Melbourne, as per the the ratings. Went for breakfast. No classics on the menu. Ordered poached eggs on sourdough with feta and avo, as there is no avo on toast on the menu - the feta and avo were an extra 10 or so dollars. Little things about it kinda sucked; the breakfast came out completely DIY, and only one small slice of toast. Waiter filled my cup 1/5th of the way and didn’t leave the water, and my mate’s water 1/2th the way. Waiter accidentally kicked my mates foot as he passed him and didn’t have the courtesy to apologise because he was in a rush. The avocado was unmashed and unseasoned and barely ripe, making it hard to spread. The feta was unmarinated, or if it was marinated did not taste of anything. The eggs had a puff of seasoning and that’s all, and the crust far too thick and firm for the knife provided and dish. I’m kinda sounding like an 57 year old writing a cruise ship review red faced, but it is the small collection of bad service and bad food that made me want to deter any people that actually care about eating a normal, big breaky from this place.

Lovely place with a nice atmosphere. I went at one of the busiest times and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was really good; the poke bowl and beef burger were delicious. Thanks for great experience! Will definitely come again!

A warm and friendly place to eat. Coffee was great, food was exactly what we wanted and so full of care and flavour. The service was outstanding, too. We went back again the next day to the same levels of high service and incredible food.

Food was average. They charge 10% on a normal Saturday which we were not told beforehand. After I paid they said it was on the menu. It’s not normal and we look to choose meal on the menu not notice (it wasn’t obvious apparently)
Surcharge on a non public holiday should be noticed when we order.
Will not recommend and will not go again.

Ten Square is one of my favourite go to cafes in the CBD, located in Hardware st. It never disappoints. Took my parents here, and the food was delicious. Staff are so friendly, and the hotcakes look amazing:)

@tensquarecafe is now a top brunch spot for me in the CBD! Located in Hardware st in the old Hardware Societé location it was extremely busy on the weekend and with lots of travellers too which is exciting to see for Melbourne Tourism?

Their service, food and coffees were all fantastic! I also loved the complimentary sparkling water on tap We all loved the seafood pasta special & cured salmon and avocado (so pretty too!). The baked eggs wasn’t bad but less special. The food was so filling. My parents also fully approved all dishes - big yes from us. Definitely one to revisit. Thanks for having us ️️

One of my all time favourite city cafes for brunch. They now serve cocktails too so who can refuse a boozy brunch?
We ordered the vegan stack and poke bowl. I usually don’t go for vegan dishes but I was sure impressed with the flavours. The sweet potato rosti was crisp and delicious. It went great with the mushrooms, beetroot hummus and avo.
The poke bowl was super flavourful too and came with a perfectly poached egg.
For cocktails, we had the mimosa and paloma which were light and refreshing.
Definitely plan ahead as they do get pretty busy.

Absolute gem in Melbourne CBD. Had breakfast here for 3 straight days and always consistent, food amazing and service fantastic. Hats off to the chef and the the rest of the team. Definitely worth a trip in Little Lonsdale!

I have brunch almost everyday, this was my worst experience.
Really hope your chef will improve next time, I will try again next week, if do better, I will change my review for you if accept my suggestions.

Love the coffee here! And the food is awesome, avocado is served with pine nuts and edamame, giving it a nice contrast in texture. The Kale chips are very savoury, close to roasted seaweed. Scrambled eggs are creamy and silky. A very enjoyable brunch.

Went with my friend today and waited nearly an hour when a table next to us with twice as many people who were seated next to us got their food first and when we asked they said another 5 minutes but was clear our order was forgotten. By the time it came out it the quality was disappointing. The bacon was flavourless, cold and hard. I also got the mork hot chocolate which was not worth the price for the taste.

Amazing brunch spot, great food, great coffee and juice and loved the chilled music they played. A super nice vibe. Also the staff were delightful! We will be back for sure!

Great coffee & food! Visiting from the Gold Coast and we just had to come back a second time. Highly recommend.

Creative breakfast options, nice space. A good selection of vegan options. They are open on Sunday which is rare for a city cafe. The curly haired waiter with the glasses is a gem!

I got the sweet potato rosti stack. Amazing presentation and delicious combination of flavours. The turmeric latte was tasty but a little bit small. It would be nice if there were a few more plant based options but I will go back for the vegan stack.

The food tastes unbelievably bad. Worst brunch spot in Melbourne that I’ve tried. The ingredients weren’t fresh and everything tasted like they were cooked by someone who doesn’t even cook. Will never come back and if you see this maybe you can avoid this cafe. Go to any other brunch place around in the area and they will be way way better
