Teller Restaurant

We love eating out in country towns, you’d be surprised as to how many restaurants and bistros rival, and if not serve up dishes that bear some of Melbourne’s best restaurants. Teller is one of them, and my word, what a gem. Brilliant service and delish food.

The Teller Collective has been hosting our client events over the past 12 months and we have enjoyed each one. Great food and being able to work with them to co-ordinate our events has been fantastic.

Food was nothing special. Beef Ragu was tough and dry tasting. Definitely would not go back

We went because of the photos on the website. After the entrees of scallops as small as a 5cent piece, I had to ask if we were in the right restaurant. Totally disappointing. Photos are misleading.

The entrees were actually good so I expected the mains to be better. Ordered crumbed pork and steak. The pork was bland and all I can taste is the oil. The steak tasted very bitter.

Exactly what a quality restaurant experience should be. Order whatever you like, it’s all immaculately prepared.

That waitress al or alex was completely useless and was no help as the group i was with speak limited english and had to get her friend charlie so come and yell at us for now understanding the language. COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS! Never ever coming back

Well that was was absolutely 10/10, I had the snapper, so salty & flavoursome w Silverbeet & the focaccia was beautiful, Pinot Grigio spot on & service just perfect. Highly recommend

Nice but expensive steak, cooked well. Other menu items including the bread were a bit salty

Menu on the web is out of date, food quantity is small and not tasty for the charging price. Looks ike a fine dining pace but custom service is not excellent from some. Not worth going again

I have been visiting the Teller for about 4 years and have never had an issue, however after a recent visit i feel compelled to sadly write a negative review.
Being the go-to place in Shepparton for Fine Dining, I booked a table for 4, to be seated outside. We had to go into the restaurant multiple times throughout the evening to get service or top up our wine (they had no ice wine buckets) during our visit.
For one of the starters, we ordered oysters which were room temperature and after consuming the first one, I dared not eat a second. This was taken off the bill after I mentioned this to staff.
The mains arrived and it was noted one of them was significantly smaller (and cut in half?) than the others. The prices in house have increased a fair amount than what the current listing on the website show, and for the prices charged, these issues (i feel) were unacceptable. We arrived at 7: 45pm and did not receive mains until 9: 30pm which is ridiculous for a few starters and steak mains. The restaurant was not overly busy for a Saturday either. We did let the staff know we were not particularly happy with the evening, however there wasn't much they could do and owners were not onsite to follow up with. Staff are very young now and didn't seem to have much guidance on a Saturday night service, with only 1 chef on duty. I did leave a review using their feedback system, but nothing has been actioned, so I feel obliged to share my experience. I believe the business was or may have already changed ownership - which may be a contributing factor to my most recent experience. Prior to this I have never had a bad meal or experience there.

Always loved this restaurant, my partner and I have been here several times over the last 12 months, and food was always consistent. Tonight the food was greatly disappointing. The staff member informed us there is a new menu (please bring back the old menu). The quality of the porterhouse steak was not the same, full of gristle and the chips and focaccia were extremely salty. Not sure if there is a new chef or change of ownership, but something as gone terribly wrong with this restaurant.
