Taxably Accountants and Advisors

I have been with Marlena/Taxably accountants for many many years, I had a huge backlog of tax returns that I hadn’t logged for afew years, I was stressed, worried and didn’t know where/who to turn to as the years went on, then I met Marlena, I explained to her my bad situation, she not only fixed all my tax returns/requirements/forms but also managed to get me a very, very handsome tax return, she also managed to spot and fix the mistakes that other tax agencies (I was previously with) had made and continues to keep my mind a ease during Tax return time! Thank you Marlena!

I didn’t read the fine print that Taxably reserves the right to sub-contract tax returns (and hence responsibility for these returns) to third parties. When mistakes were made on my sub-contracted return and I asked for my money back, communications from them became heated and it was very stressful. I will not be using them again.

Marlena and the team have done a great job with our tax affairs which span 3 countries. She is also very approachable and friendly as well as knowledgeable which was important to me in choosing an accountant. I highly recommend!

Every year around tax time, I would have anxiety attacks, didn’t really know what to do.
Then I found Marlena, explained my tax problems to her and she took over this horrible yearly pain.
Every year I thank the heavens for her; she (and her team) are knowledgeable and really have eye for detail. The certainty that my tax is done accurately has lifted an incredible burden of my shoulders. It gives me peace of mind and that is worth so much to me.

Overall I’ve been using them for over 3 years. Their process is streamlined, simple and fool proof. Tax can often be a pain for me but they have definitely taken the headache out of it and provided me superstar, personalised service every time without fail!

We recently moved to the Netherlands and I was so lost with how everything I need to do for tax, so I after checking around a lil I found Marlena, and I was so happy I did!

She explained everything to me so thoroughly and was super knowledgeable and helpful regarding everything, and instructed me what I need to do on my end step by step as well.

Would definitely recommend their services to anyone!

SECOND EDIT after offensive and defamatory remarks made by business in response to my review: It is entirely untrue that I "became rude" after realising I'd have to pay fees - by the time i firmly, but calmly, stated that the delays I was facing were unacceptable, I had already paid all *significant* fees entailed. In addition, it is patently false that I "refused to accept being terminated as a client". In fact, when threatened with this (as it was only stated as a threat), I clearly and calmly stated that I had absolutely no intention of using the service again anyway. Finally, I find the claim that I was "rude and abusive" to be inaccurate and defamatory.

**EDIT: Downgraded to 1 star after the outrageously unprofessional response I received from the managing director after I threatened to make a formal complaint. Refused to take any accountability for the ridiculous delays and stress that entails for clients who have already paid substantial fees and complained about having to respond to my emails while telling me I was not a valuable client because I didn't bring enough to her 'bottom line'. **
Giving 2 stars only because of positive previous experiences. Getting my tax return completed this year (or last year I should say, as I was literally chasing it up from late July 2022 - Jan 2023), has been nothing short of a nightmare. I sent numerous emails and comments on the portal which went unresponded to, and received very little in the way of apology. Unfortunately I will not be using this company's services again.

Very helpfull and quick responce to our questions, everything for a reasonable price.

I had a great experience last year, but this year I've been waiting for MONTHS. We are nearly 4 months further and still haven't heard anything back, while I have paid everything. There's no way to reach them. I hope I won't get in trouble with not declaring my taxes on time. Won't return. Too much stress.

I think they’re probably very competent, but I found them quite unfriendly and their fees are outrageous (275 AUD for an initial consult, which many other agents provide at no cost). Aaaand it takes ages to get an appointment, and responsiveness can be an issue. I don’t think it’s worth it.

I can't recommend Taxably and Marlent Smit highly enough. Her wealth of knowledge about all things taxation is outstanding. And her attention to detail is beyond compare. I refer many clients to her for the excellent service she gives.

The Taxably team is very professional and knowledgeable. No doubt about their accounting skills. It’s very hard to get through to them though, sometimes it can take up to weeks and several reminders to get a reply. Do not recommend for small business and sole traders as you will be spending precious time chasing them.

I really don't like leaving 1 star ratings, and I will say that taxably is made up of good accountants that provide knowledgeable advice. BUT they are so unbelievably slow and have a total disregard for their clients so I really cannot recommend them (anymore).
I used them since 2018 with no issues at all but this year has been a complete nightmare. I asked them to complete my Dutch tax return this year in March, and whilst very quick to send me an invoice (that I paid straight away), I have barely heard from them since. I am constantly chasing them for my return as I just want it to be completed, and I really can't understand. I held off leaving this review for a while, hoping that they would finally complete the return or at least reply to my emails, but I am still waiting. I am looking into a new accountant right now as a back up because I do not believe that they have any real intention of completing my return.

The Team have been fantastic the last couple of years assisting me with my International tax return. Their knowledge and quick responsiveness has made the process so much easier

No doubts about the quality they can deliver and the knowledge they possess, however the company to me was all but responsive. I would like to have seen proactivity, but instead the process took way more time than was needed. It was required to send them more than 25 reminders over the course of 1.5 years to have them correctly filing a tax return of a sole proprietor.

I'm not saying I don't recommend this company. I believe they can be great accountants, however, for smaller customers like me, I recommend to agree beforehand on the scope of the work so you can discuss on prices and responsiveness.

Marlena is the accountant I wish I'd had all along, and then 100 times better.

She goes above and beyond for the best outcomes and her impact on my business' results has impressed me enormously.

Moreover, her clear communication and practical long-term solutions allow me to completely focus on growing my business.
