Everything Tarndie is absolutely lovely. It is an ideal country escape. From the adorable sheep that line the driveway and the thoughtfully renovated federation architecture to the paddocks for miles around, Tarndie is quite literally a breath of fresh air.

If staying as a group it can be difficult to negotiate for hanging space of towels etc.and there isn't an abundance of dinner places available in the nearby Birregurra.

But everything else more than makes up for these little quibbles.
We booked our next stay as soon as we came home!

What a dream getaway! Tarndie was such a great weekend away for my partner and I. We stayed in the Stables which was perfect for the two of us for a few night away. The rooms were clean, stylish, super comfortable and had the perfect number of amenities for a cosy getaway. Tom and Jason were the most fantastic hosts, we hardly wanted to go back home! They produce some of the best wool in Victoria, and they are master crafters and fibre artists in their own right. The nearby towns had delightful restaurants and cafes when we wanted to go out, we would recommend this place to anyone and will certainly going back ourselves!

Tarndie is a working historical sheep farm which makes for a very enriching and interesting travel experience. Our family loved staying in the Cottage which is very cosy and well appointed with modern kitchen, a log fire and heaps of wood! Tom and his family made us very welcome and for fibre-lovers and those that knit, dye, spin, crochet or just enjoy a rural idyll, this is your spot.

What a wonderful two days we had at Tarndie. The cottage has been lovingly restored and is so cosy and inviting. Reminded me of my grandparents home in Edinburgh with all the wool blankets and lamps. Adored having the sheep on site and appreciated all the small touches for a mum travelling alone with a busy 2 year old. Fill up on gourmet delicacies at the Birregurra General store, come back to the cottage and settle in. Thanks Tom and family.

This was our 2nd trip to Tarndie. Our stay in the cottage was very comfortable and cosy. The flowers around the cottage added to the caring homely feel. Waking up to the fields surrounding the cottage and the sheep as part of the scenery is very special. The hospitality of our hosts was outstanding. Their local knowledge means there are so many things to explore. Thank you so much for a restorative and enriching experience, but so much more.

Booked and stayed for 2 nights at 'The Stables' at Tarndie. The Stables are a thoughtfully renovated dwelling with modern amenities while still maintaining rustic beginnings. Such a beautiful place to base ourselves while spending a couple of days exploring the Western District of Victoria.

As mentioned in other reviews, Tom is a great host who makes you feel more than welcome. Highly recommended.

My very favourite place to stay; Tarndie has revived me once again. A few days stay relaxing and pursuing my interests in all things to do with fleece and yarn have worked wonders. Very friendly and welcoming, with comfortable accommodation.
Plenty of choies for meals within a short drive, or self-catering if I don't feel like going out. Lots of walking and hiking nearby as well. Great place to be.

Really charming and clean place to live near the Great Ocean Road. The flowers and attention to details are worth the stay! Tom was really easy to liaise with and he gave good tips and recommandations for our travels. A must!

It was a stinking hot summer's day & when we arrived, the air conditioning was on, the cottage was cool, there were fresh flowers from the garden and I immediately knew we had made a great choice to stay at Tarndie.
There is so much to do and see in the surrounding area, we went organic blueberry picking, went for walks through the Otways, savoured the delicious vanilla slices from the local Birregurra General Store & enjoyed sitting outside on the verandah in the late afternoon with a glass of wine watching the sheep grazing on the hill. Tarndie is a fabulous getaway to restore & re-energise!

Fantastic experience! Stayed at 'The Stables' beautifully appointed with really antique, funky, modern vibre. A calm and relaxing place where foodies and crafters can enjoy themselves. Central to the Otway Harvest Trail. Each day you can meet up with Tom the owner over a coffee with other guests. Tom povides excellent advise on foodie places to go to. Eg. Middle Eastern food in 'Forrest' or juicy rasberries. For crafters, there is the beautiful Tarndie wool and great guidance on the purchasing of the stunning Majacraft spinning wheel. Looking forward to returning. Fabulous country hospitality and warmth!

What a wonderful, idyllic spot to relax and unwind. The stables was a gorgeous spot, so comfortable and room to move around. The added bonus of the farm shop filled with delicious yarn, the walk around the farm and the great hospitality provided added to the overall excellent experience. Wish it had been longer. Thanks Tom, hope to be back one day.

Fantastic accommodation in a great location. Lovely converted stables on a working farm surrounded by nearly 200 years of history.
Spent time up in the Otways on some bush walks, buying some local art and having some great meals.
Tom couldn't have been more helpful with suggestions. A great long-weekend.

Such an idyllic, historical setting. The service was lovely. Tom was a wonderful host with a wealth of knowledge of Tarndie and the surrounding areas. And added bonus, a wool shop on the farm! A yarn lover’s dream!

Unbeatable setting with a real farm stay vibe. Our only issue was that we drove in at night and it wasn't super wasn't easy to find. More like a 4.5 in light of this. Overall, fantastic stay!

Tom is a great ambassador for the generations of the Dennis family that have continuously worked this property since the 1840s. We thoroughly enjoyed his enthusiasm for the special wool they produce [the Polwarth] and wish him well with his future plans. The Stables were great - plenty of room. The views are awesome and the surrounding places to visit, Birregurra and Forrest to name to, are worth the trip. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY LIVES TO CHILL OUT AT TARNDIE!

Cosy stay at a rustic and charming historic farmhouse that’s over 100years old.

Vast land for walkabouts. Intricate handicrafts and workshop featuring the softest wool woven from the farm’s sheeps. Amazing 2-storey lodge that’s generously furnished by the owner with fresh flowers and organic toiletries.

We also fulfilled our dream of cooking and lunching alfresco by a farmhouse, in the cool Aussie autumn no less?

Given this cost similar to a hotel room in downtown Melbourne, I highly reco this place to folks who wants to get away from the city for a holiday. There’s supermarket, winery, raspberry farms treetop walks/courses, and even one of Aussie’s best restaurant Brea around this farmstay. Definitely worth a stay

Oh my gosh where to start, we stayed in the Farmers Cottage, packed full of character. There were amazing flower arrangements in each of the rooms - I took photos and shared them with friends on FB. I was made very welcome watching yarn dyeing on Saturday morning before I headed into the wool shop to have a good look, and some yarn came home with me. Thanks Tom for a wonderful, relaxed experience, we will be back!

This was my second stay at Tarndie. When you stay at Tarndwarncoort you enter a time warp. A few days relaxing feels like a week.
Tom and all the crew make you feel so welcome. The farmer’s cottage is rustic but comfortable, welcoming and clean.
Cannot wait for my next stay.

Tarndie is a little piece of heaven on earth. I have been wanting to stay for a long time and finally the opportunity arose.
The cottage is just amazing and the attention to detail and atmosphere is superb. The fresh flowers in nearly every room are just divine as are the crochet blankets.
Thank you for a wonderful stay - I will be back as soon as possible!
