Lots of choice and I can find authentic Japanese foods, clean and neat, the girls in the cashier do the packing smartly for my wife as we have a full trolley to bring home, very good shopping experience

A well stocked Asian grocer that has a large range of vegetables, fruits, frozen food, dry good and sauces.

I would rate this place 5 stars but the check staff are just completely rude. Every single time I ask them to do something such as wrapping up the durian in newspaper, they try to argue with me or roll their eyes. I wouldn't be asking if I haven't had a bloody durian rip out of the damn bag once I just walked outside the shop.

I also don't expect everyone in the shop to speak English but if I'm asking where an item is, don't just tell point in a random direction if you don't understand.

Rude cashiers, no greeting, no apology for making mistakes on grocery prices, always rush customer on checkout counter. It's not mainland China here! Its Australia here, please learn the local culture!

I go there all the time. The lines are a bit long sometimes, but the drinks and snacks are cheap.

This Asian Grocer is very big and is stocked with every Asian food item from South East Asia and North Asia.
There are so many varieties and would be the place to look for any item you can't get elsewhere.
There are also lots of vegetables and fruits available.
The prices are quite reasonable compared to other Asian grocers.

I always do my weekly shopping here and never checked my receipt. Today I just bought few items and had chance to look at my receipt, and spotted 3 mistakes. The sign showed 3 pack of pak choy for $3, and was charged 3 @$1.67 ea with total of $5, not sure this is kind of misleading or counter mistake? The same kind mistake was happen to one of crispy biscuits as sign showed $3.50 but was charged $7, can’t believe how this was happened. The last mistake was an item has been charged twice. Very disappointing, can’t imagine I have been shopping here for so many years, and never check my receipt. My advice here is if you need to shop here please do check your receipt every single time!

I would normally rate this a 4 or 5 because of the wide offering and the ease of shopping. Been shopping here for many years. But today, something that really perturbed me. I saw a man point out to a young worker that he had seen a mould on a pack of fried tofu. He took the pack off the shelf to pass it to her, hoping they would remove it from the line. The lady worker acknowledged but not sure she understood. She did see the mould, about 1 cm in diameter on a piece of fried tofu. Even I could see it two steps away from them. Then he turned away, but as soon as he was two steps away he turned back to check. To both his and my surprise, the young lady worker placed the pack back and tried to cover the mouldy tofu! The man immediately went back and confronted her and asked “you think you should still be selling that? ” She hesitated, and when he persisted, she referred him to an older Chinese lady worker.

The older lady acknowledged it, but by then the tofu that had a mould was already rearranged and not clearly visible in the pack. And the pack was reshuffled with other packs. She did not want to take affirmative action when the man asked repeatedly and respectfully “you think you can sell this still? ” She was calm and said thanks, but did nothing. Not quite satisfied and not convinced the would do anything about it, the man left in frustration. The older lady did not demonstrate an intent to check the stock and this seemed to be brushed off. It raises serious questions about the training availed to staff, and management attitude towards food safety.

There is a clear difference between acknowledging, understanding and doing something to fix the situation, which is a customer service squarely under management purview. Food safety is a bigger question and has to sit with the board. Hence this one star, so the board can intervene to fix the culture before things get worse. Doesn’t give me confidence, sadly.

The fruit and veg here is okay if consumed within a few days and frozen seafood is good. Prices are cheaper for loose leaf salad mixes and some other items. Very crowded at all times and some of the customers’ hygiene leave a lot to be desired. People that shop here have no issue grabbing and putting things back after touching noses, wiping noses, coughing over the produce etc.

The place for me to do grocery shopping since it's opened up. Freshness, wide range of choices, and good presentation are the factors making it standout from other Asian groceries in my view.

I visit this store every weekend. It has everything I need. The prices are a bit higher than other Asian grocers but that is understandable given the prime location.

This is a bad review beware! I need to rant this!

I went to the store today to buy groceries just as usual. I went there to shop quite often. Today I had a very bad experience.

As usual I chose what I wanted, line up and pay. After paid, I went back to my car to unload everything and randomly I look at my receipt before driving off to realise one of the item, on top of the list is not what I bought. So I went back to the cashier she told me she needs prove. I said I've unload everything, ask if she can check CCTV. Her reply was "if every customer has to ask CCTV for prove that will take forever".

Look guys, CCTV is the best to prove this and she wanted my prove (to show all the items I bought). She rather believing me than the CCTV. I get it, it takes longer time, but if it's for the business, you shouldn't trust a customer by just asking them for prove. You can ask for contact details, take your time to find it and contact the customer when you found it.

I showed her my proof after went back all the way to the car park, single pick the item I bought from the store and rush back. When showed her, she still doesn't believe me. I can't believe this! Then I pointed at the receipt this item is on top of the list which mean highly likely she might have put it on and scanned mine afterwards. She thought for a few secs then refunded me the money and without any words nor apologetic gesture. UNBELIEVABLE!

OWNER, IF YOU READ THIS, PLEASE. TRAIN YOUR STAFF PROPERLY. I KNOW THE MALE OWNER IS A VERY FRIENDLY GUY BUT SOME STAFF NEED TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION PROPERLY. I am really not happy with this experience.

Tan Hung Asian Grocer The Glen
Review update 13/10/2022

The closure of the store next door, The Reject Shop, enables The Glen Asian Grocery to expand. The bigger floor space means s more products for sale. The frozen goods vertical display units are just left of entry. There are more variety of rice.

I like the wooden structure above the casher counter. It is just artistic and interesting. I have rerank this store from 4 stars to 5 stars.

Chinese New Year is round the corner (12/2/2021), and the festivity lasts for 15 days. Many shoppers come to shop to cook up a storm to celebrate the year of the Ox. The shop puts up some Chinese New Year decoration, and sells items including biscuits for the occasion.

The boss lady is "law abiding" and makes sure the paying customers observe social distancing when they are in the check-out queue.

Happy Chinese New Year.

If you do not look closely to the purchase receipt, you may not know this store is known as Tan Hung Asian Grocer, because the shop sign only shows Asian Grocer.

The store stocks a large variety of Asian groceries and fresh produce, which are displayed in front and outside the store.

There are so many types and brands of noodles - noodle galore indeed. Besides, there are also a great variety of sauces, canned food, Asian biscuits, nuts, taufo and mushrooms. I have not had once cannot find the items I want to buy.

However, I do find its competitor not far it sells their fresh Asian vegetables at a lower price.

Has a huge range of products. Brightly lit, and quite well organised in categories that make sense. Expect it to be packed on the weekend though, and the aisles are so narrow that two people with the shop's pull along baskets will only barely fit past each other.
