Tambo Ciek Restaurant reviews
36It was my first time to try Indonesian food. Wow! Soooooo amazingly delicious definitely will come back here. Highly recommended!
I've eaten here many times, but yesterday I was served by a female employee who was rude and not welcoming. The servings were not as usual, and the employee was given appreciation by the owner. When the service I came yesterday wasn't good at all.
Already a bit disappointed with the waiter
Hopefully it can be fixed.
Last month I came here almost every weekend.but last week I was very disappointed with the service of the female employees there.when he arrived his face was unfriendly and sullen.the portions are also not as usual. I asked for additional rendang seasoning and my face was in a bad mood. Looks like I won't be going back there.even though to be honest, the price of Nasi Kapau in non-CBD areas is overpriced
Authentic Bukit Tinggi padang food. Rich aromatic spice along with chili dishes is the biggest drawing card. Plenty of vegetarian option. Must visit for people that loves spices and chili.
The restaurant also provide a lot of Indonesian traditional snacks options.
They also have traditional crackers to go along with the food dishes.
Terrible service and inconsistent portion size. This place used to be my favourite Indonesian restaurant for years but their quality has dropped down to the lowest point in the past few months despite the price increase
Stumbled across this little eatery for lunch, the selection of food was nice, although there was no labels to identify what each dish was, so was difficult to know what is what without having to ask and go through each one individually. I got the beef rendang and chilli chicken on rice, and it was so delicious, great flavours, although maybe too much spice/msg in there, good pricing to for $13.50 will be back!
One of my favourite Southeast Asian Restaurants in Melbourne. I'd highly recommend the place due to the tasty and authentic food, the super friendly staff, the affordable prices, the ambiance and location. My overall experience was fantastic. I can't wait to go again.
This is our favorit Padang restaurant that serve authentic nasi kapau from Bukit Tinggi. The food always taste delicious but the spicy level is not consistent. Sometimes the food just have the right amount of spiciness but other time they are really spicy. The snack, desserts and jajanan pasar is good for take away. Will keep coming back for the wonderful food.
I love this place so much. The nasi padang is so authentic, bursting with flavours with a good amount of heat. There are so many beautifully executed dishes here, that change daily. It's clear to me that the chefs have the touch.
I've never really been a fan of bain marie style service, but this is certainly an exception. Everything is attended to, and nothing looks old. I enjoy making up my own combinations for bungkus (takeaway wrapped in banana leaf and paper) and trying new things, like beef tendon curry, which is rich and gelatinous and adds to a textural experience complimenting the fried. Ala carte is available with bakso and satay made to order, but I just can't get past their speciality, nasi padang with their homemade spicy sambal The shop front is humble and its warm inside, the staff are so friendly. People coming and going quietly.
One of my go to place for Indonesian food cravings.
Love their nasi kapau (Padang style mixed rice), lontong sayur Padang, sate Padang.
Authentic Bukit Tinggi padang food. Rich aromatic spice along with chili dishes is the biggest drawing card. Plenty of vegetarian option. Must visit for people that loves spices and chili.

Great beef rendang, love it. It's a small place inside - 2 tables seating 4,2 tables for 2. Business is good, steady stream of customers
The foods are delicious. The taste of mixed spices with the buffet-style and ala carte. I went here a few times and still admire the foods made. Loving it and highly recommended
Delicious! Nasi Kapau: beef rendang + perkedel kentang and your choice of 1 meat & 1 veg (chicken curry & tempe in the photo).
If you love spicy rendang. This is what you need, so soft and aromatic! I wish the sambal ijo more spicy tho.
My new favourite for Minang/Padang's food. Authentic, delicious yet inexpensive. The staffs were friendly like most Indonesians are. Highly recommended.
The most authentic Padang food I've tried so far in Melbourne. Conveniently located close to Glen Huntly Train Station and very friendly and attentive customer service. The portion and quality is worth the price to satisfy your home sick and craving. The spices is just as I remembered in Indonesia. For those who are sensitive to hot foods, just take caution. Good thing, there are plenty non hot/spicy food. The new location has only a few dine-in tables. Definitely will visit often.
We ordered nasi kapau set meals (consist of steam rice, beef rendang, silverbeet in coconut milk, corn fitters, braised tendon in coconut milk/kikil with green chilli and red chilli sambals), taste wise: steam rice was soggy, beef rendang is ok but salty, silverbeet is nice, corn fitters is mediocre, kikil is bland, sambal is oily and salty.
We also bought a portion of beef in green chilli sambals, taste wise: beef is very tough and dry.
Love the authentic Sumatran food, they have some Indonesian nibbles too. Bought a packet of chips and they were mouth numbing hot!
Love their Authentic Indonesian Padang Cuisine. Very happy with my orders and good customer service
