What a discovery, or recommendation from a work friend! Don't let the tired mall location put you off, Tambo Ciek is fantastic.
The beef rendang is absolutely phenomenal - well balanced flavour and spice and the beef, cooked to tender perfection.
The silverbeet/spinach veggie dish and the crunchy potato noodle looking topping in an enormous tub with a generous serve of rice is incredible value for the quality of meal and service. Happy 1st Coburg birthday Tambo Ciek!

Suami saya mesan bakso, Dan staff nya bawain bakso ke meja ga pakai trays bawahannya. Cuma pakai lap yg mereka pake bersihin meja biar tangannya ga panas karena makok nya panas dr bakso.

Great hidden place in Coburg! Authentic Indonesian food - great selection of dishes. 2 meat and 2 veg choices with rice for $18.50. Servings were generous and very tasty. I am telling all my friends about it!

Food was very spicy but delicious, they need more variety in the drinks department.perhaps some milky drinks to take the edge of the spiciness. Good value and very accommodating.

Went for the first time today and loved it so much! Bain marie/cafeteria style traditional indonesian, tucked away in a little arcade. I grew up eating this cuisine and it really hit the spot.will be visiting regularly! If chili is not your vibe it may not be the spot for you:)

Tambo Ciek has gotten better and better. The definable layers of flavours in their dishes and their cooking technique have obviously developed due to a passion for authentic Padang style Indonesian food.

These flavours are intense as you would hope to find with Padang food and something rarely found in Australia.

I am an Indonesian. I would say this place has one of the best Indonesian food in Melbourne. The foods are authentic at a decent price.

Authentic Padang food is Melbourne is rare as it is but for it to open in my local neighborhood? Heaven. You'll be happy with any dish that you pick from the bain marie, just be ready for the spice because they don't joke around when it comes to spicy food. Still need to iron out a few kinks on the customer service side of things but the food is totally worth it.
