Nice area. Could be developed to be more people compatible. Just easy things. Signs on paths, nice toilets. Very peaceful spot

Excellent destination for 4x4 and enduro riding. Easy to challenging tracks. Avoid the bog holes as they can be deeper than they look. Don't risk riding with out reg, police park at Broadford and ride up.

Very dusty and rocky, lots of 4 wheel drives driving very fast and extremely dangerously and showing lack of respect to others on the roads.

Tallarook forest is close to Melbourne. In the winter time the tracks erode badly. There are massive ruts. Avoid 4x driving in the wet season. There are motorbike tracks, but some of them close to Flat Rock are crossing through private propriety. Avoid riding on them.

In the summer the fire danger is high, there is one road to exit the forest, no one wants to be caught up in a bush fire on that widing narrow road.

Wild life is abundant and on the road animals hit by cars sometimes can be seen. Consider driving slowly to save the animals, you will enjoy the sightseeing better.

In the summer hot days watch out for snakes. There are tiger snakes, you will recognise them by their motion in straight line before you see their tiger straps. Also there are brown snakes and red belly black snakes.

Better camp in large open areas, trees or branches are falling often.

Best times to visit Tallarook forest is in Spring and Autumn.

Beautiful place, far away from busy stressful city life, friendly roads even in the middle of the forest

Love Tallarook State Forest. Fantastic campsites, great 4wd tracks from easy to very challenging. The dam at the northern end is a great spot for families to take the kids.

Absolutely awesome State Forest with plenty of places to camp off the trail but still easily accessible. There isn't much in the way of water so best to bring your own. There are tracks for 4WD and dirt bike riding. Plenty of firewood. Most of the tracks are pretty well marked and there are plenty you can get an average van into. I really enjoy this forest and the lands around it.
