Taco Cantina Mentone

Nice place, may have caught it on a quiet Australia Day evening, so it lacked atmosphere but is well decked out and I feel it'd be a good place for a Friday tequila session.

Really surprised this gets such good reviews the food was actually quite bad and not cheap! Tasted like reheated bland frozen food. Could not finish my meal. Other person I was dining with said theirs tasted stale and bland. Provided feedback to the staff who suggested I order something different next time I come back. Sorry guys there won’t be a next time
Staff were friendly but disappointing to see when something fell and hit other diners in the head they didn’t help them move table at all
Venue itself is too echoey and noisy to have a conversation and too dark to see your food

Addit: staff never checked on me during my meal, I never mentioned or had any conversation about pineapple/sweetness, staff never offered to change my meal at all (upon telling staff I could not finish my meal they suggested I order a burrito when I come back next time and charged full price). The owner either has me confused with another diner or has fabricated response

Really great tasting Mexican food. Had take away. Lots of competing good Mexican, Montezuma’s in Parkdale is lovely, but my Dos enchilada was A grade and I will be back to eat in house.

Came here for the first time tonight. I had such a nice time. The staff are so friendly and nice. The food was really delicious and the cocktails/margaritas are superb! 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back!

Hate to be negative and leave a bad review but this was just not restaurant quality. Really wanted to end the long weekend on a high, but the food was not fresh and was from an el de paso taco kit at woolies. Burrito bowl cost me $26 and the beans were not fresh, salsa wasn’t real salsa and the chicken was cold and soggy. Hate to do this but please beware.

We had the Nachos (+beef), Prawn Tacos & Chicken Quesadilla. Everything was delicious and the staff were so friendly. Really cool decor. Will be back!

I hate to leave a bad review but the food was terrible. Paid $70 bucks for 4 tacos that I could of made myself for $10 from woolies ingredients and then a burrito bowl that had cold chicken and rice/ beans that tastes like it’s come from a packet once again from the woolies shelf. Waitress was nice though.

I'm a fiend for Mexican food, and when I saw this place has a 4.9 rating by reviewers, I had to come. We were very delighted. We started with $8 happy hour lemon margaritas, and I ordered a beef burrito and the wife had a prawn quesadilla. I knew we had a winner when the wife said she loved it. I loved it too. It was cooked hot and fresh. They could add some niceties like a small bowl of complimentary corn chips and salsa while you wait, and some side dishes like jalapeno poppers and Mexican corn. But what they do is perfect, and that's all you want in a meal. It was so good I ordered a chimichanga to take home and have for lunch tomorrow! I asked about the chef, and while he isn't from Mexico, he has been cooking Mexican food for 18 years and it shows.

Lighting and atmosphere was great, service was excellent, food and drinks delicious and very affordable as well. Will definitely be coming back. I had the fish tacos and a fruit tingle cocktail.

Funky little bar restaurant, the service was excellent with heaps of friendly staff, the chicken chimichanga was generous and yummy. Love the Margarita cocktail and 2014 shiraz on offer. Good value for money!

The food was wonderful full of flavour and reasonably priced. The service and waitress was really nice, the free extras due to needing to move seats was kindly considerate. Overall wonderful restaurant with good service and food, will be visiting again!
