Tabernacle Games / Temple Arden reviews
36Very cute, relaxed cafe, next to tram stop, selling arts and crafts, as well as having board games by the dozen for you to play and pass the time. However, if all you're looking for is a coffee, this is not the place for you. $5.20 for a SMALL size is extortionate. The cup size is actually smaller than a small if that's even possible. I also got a pastry at $5 which didn't taste too fresh.
The best place in Melbourne for boardgames/TCG with great products and fantastic coffee. Such a friendly atmosphere and amazing staff with a particular shout out to Jacob.
Always such a great, fun atmosphere. The staff are all lovely and the coffee all drinks are delish. I love the range and always able to get something different when I visit.
Temple Arden is the place to go for a day of board games, coffee, toastie, japanese treats, literally anything you want. Super friendly staff, always makes you feel like home. Will take time to explain the board games to you too. The owner Kei is one of a kind and you can tell he puts in a lot of heart and effort into this place. Highly recommend.
First time here - lovely welcoming atmosphere, great coffee and pet friendly too! Will definitely visit again:)
Ideally this place would've been a great local cafe as it is just down the road for me but I am constantly let down by the lack of customer service and poor coffee. Firstly, the coffee is horrible and bitter - so undrinkable no matter what I order that I regret it every time I do. And the price of it does not make sense - a 7/11 coffee tastes better for less a lot less. Secondly, I forgot to order my chai 'Iced' at the counter but quickly asked to make it iced before they started making it. I go to this cafe a couple times a week minimum but I was still asked to pay the $1 extra to make the drink iced. My issue was not paying the $1, my issue was that I got asked - definitely rubbed my the wrong way. I paid by card too, so after the bank's merchant fee wouldn't have even made it worth for them. I'll gladly walk a couple minutes extra to other cafes in the area that are much more hospitable and community-spirited.
A great little hidden gem. There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere with delicious drinks and a super tasty brownie! A good range of boardgames for sale and to play. They also have a range of beautiful cards and artwork.
Huge selection of board games and nice atmosphere.cafe is feels new and clean.some good food and drink options including beers.came here for a super smash bros melee tournament and was a great experience
First time, great place, great service, great atmosphere.
Stand up blokes running the place, definitely returning for FNM again.
Food and coffee were pretty good, if not a bit overpriced ($5.20 for a latte, $12-14 for toasties with 3 pre-prepared fillings). Service was friendly but very slow. Nobody in front of me and the coffee took 10 minutes, the toastie took nearly 20 minutes. Speed things up and I would come back.
Board games cafe right next to tram stop. There are croissants and small cakes available along with drinks. They have a large space partly separated into cafe and game area. Good ambiance.
This coffee shop offers a very different experience, with a huge range of board games and card games to play while you relax. Ive even seen a Magic the Gathering (card game) competition happening there. Lots of fun,
This place is wildly inconsistent. One day, it’s great. The next, awful. They don’t always open on time, some days it takes forever to grab a coffee (even if the store is empty), and the staff…. One minute they love their jobs and the next, it’s like they’re loathing every second!
Loved this local gem, but it seems like they’ve lost their sparkle for good.
Can't recommend this place enough. Unique pairing of board games with Cafe. Friendly staff and top quality coffee really bring it together!
Nice coffee. They have lots of room with big tables and ample power points if you need to get some work or study done.
5 stars for their coffee and friendly staff. Only place that make a good wonderfully hot coffee. Just the way I like it. Thanks
Great place to grab a coffee, relax and play some board games! Definitely recommend the almond crossiant!
Great coffee in a lovely space. A bonus that we can buy gifts/cards along with our morning coffees. And the carrot cake is delicious! Thumbs up.
A cozy place to hang and chill. There are power points available so you can definitely stay there for hours doing work/uni. Lots of interesting board games to try.
Shoutout to the staff named Justin for the warm hospitality and serving my much needed cup of coffee. And Michael for making sure visitors are following Covid-safe protocols during this pandemic.
10/10 would come back.
We get or coffee here every Saturday and Sunday on our walk to the dog park. They are great! We have also been able to purchase a few boats games from them which have helped spice up lockdown.
