T W Sands & Co reviews
15Very helpful informative staff. Took time to go through the inventory so as I could purchase the correct lampshade.
T. W. Sands what a place to visit, almost everything you need to keep your old oil lamp in top condition. Fantastic selection of old and new oil lighting, well worth a visit.
THE place for all your kerosene lamp needs. I'm sure there's nothing this team doesn't know about lanterns.
Yes I do have an oil lamp. Old school establishment once on Elizabeth St. Still gives me great pleasure in visiting such establishments. If you are looking for an original/old oil lamp still the place to go with knowledgeable staff.
I have had TWO wonderful experiences with T W Sands & Co. Firstly restoring an antique pressure lantern that had belonged to my Grandfather, it was Very bedraggled and Jason had it cleaned up and working. Fabulous! Secondly upon cleaning out a deceased relatives home I found a lamp that had belonged to my Great Grandmother, I remembered it as always being green in colour. Jason once again did his magic and the "green" turned out to be a beautiful blue. I can say only that Jason and the firm of T W Sands & Co are JUST GREAT
Do not be put off by the 1 star review. These guys are 5 stars all the way. Absolutely helpful and knowledgeable.
Very helpful and informative service, they had the parts we needed for my friends "Alladin" table lamp, as well as a new chimney for my old Dietz hurricane lamp, prices for everything were very reasonable, if you need your old kero lamps sorted, this is the place to come, well recommended
Fantastic parts and lovely people! The service was very helpful and friendly.especially compared to another place I had previously purchased from in Thomastown which was a very bad experience all around! So I recommend the trip to Huntingdale.
Unfortunately l found this company to be the worse company l have ever dealt with. After taking an antique lantern to have 2 rivets put into the top shouldnt be a hard job.well 10 weeks later no contact from them many calls from us we went to pick the lantern up. The lantern is now in worse condition than when l left it and their excuse we havent had time. Not good enough you have lost our business l would not recommend this company to anyone.
Agreed with previous reviewers. Very good service from these guys. They are very happy to share their knowledge and experience.
Good service from these guys again, very helpful and knowledgeable. The go to place for Lantern spares and advice
Called the shop hoping to get some parts for my 1939 Coleman lantern. To my surprise both bits were in stock and we're promptly posted to me the next day. Price was good. I think it's amazing that can buy parts off the shelf for a 76 year old appliance. Can't wait to visit the shop
I was keen to get a beautiful but relatively inexpensive oil lamp as a gift for friends who've moved to Castlemaine so they can enjoy it in their new colonial surroundings…found the perfect one, with real character andmuch more unique than anything you'll find in chain stores. Great experience.
This shop is a delight to visit! I bought a replacement glass shade for my old oil lamp, a couple of spare wicks and rose geranium oil there on Tuesday and was having such a great time in the shop I didn't want to leave!
I love it that it's such an oldfashioned "real" shop in the city and delighted I finally got there after frequently window shopping it years back when they were in Elizabeth Street.
Just ordered a new wick for my very old kero heater. Spoke to a very nice lady who knew what I needed and the transaction was easy and friendly the old fashion way it used to be. Thank you TW Sands
