Sweetwater Cafe reviews
10All credit to the kind chef and understanding waitress during our visit today 09/01/2022 who agreed with our discontentment offering us complementary coffee, cake and scones but management need to look very closely at how it is possible to pay $29 for a plate of pasta, served on a breakfast plate with less than a small child's portion of a meal. So disappointing. Admittedly we should have knocked back the meal as it was embarrassingly delivered to the table but there is that fine line we all experience.do I say something now? ! This can't be serious? ! It was like a scene from Oliver. Can we have some more please? !
I don't know why they advertise breakfast when it is not available. We drove specially for breakfast only to be turned away stating only for guests
Management should change their signs and take it off the website.
Very disappointed
Stunning surroundings amazing place but unfortunately the food is very average.
And they forgpt the maple syrup on the packet bought waffles
Eggs were hard poached not soft,
Best part was the toast.
I had my wedding reception there 20 years ago and that was the first they'd ever had in the cafe, and it was fabulous! I was amazed to see nothing had changed, yet it was still in excellent order. I have always said that Sweetwater cafe with its large windows and white walls has a Mediterranean feel to it and I just love it! It is a breath of fresh air at the far end of the beautiful historic building in which it lives! We had afternoon scones there and they were very tasty! Do yourself a favour and check it out if you have never been!

The cafe at Chateau Yering is good. Nice space for breakfast. The menu is a bit limited but the food was good. The coffee was hot and miss, but the good coffee was very good and they even know what a "magic" is!
Slow service. Expect to wait an hour between sitting and eating. Food was disappointing. The eggs were sour and one toast was burned underneath while the other was barely toasted. You’ll also pay a lot for it. To top it all off, there was a spider in my napkin.
We had two fabulous nights at chateau Yering but what a disappointment Sweetwater cafe is. Average coffee and very underwhelming meals. You’d expect a much higher standard from a cafe at a premium establishment like this, particularly given what they charge.
The wait staff were excellent, the chef though seemed to be so set in his ways that he refused to serve salad without dressing. When the alleged salad arrived it wasn’t worth the fuss. The portion size is a joke and from what I hear, the menu was put together by a chef who is no longer there. Any half decent chef would come up with their own menu. Probably explains why the unwillingness to change things, this is how he was shown how to prepare the meal and variations are beyond his limits.
Seriously, we went to Lilydale after and got food from KFC where we paid less and got more!
Extremely rude and incompetent front of house manager. The lunch menu was prepared by a Japanese chef who is no longer with them and the meal I was served was sour and inedible. I would suggest that the new chef create a new menu based on their own recipes and possibly add some vegetarian option (there are none on the lunch menu). The waitress offered to replace my dish, which was once again disappointing. When we went to pay the bill, they tried to charge me for both meals. The manager argued with us and when I told her what I thought of her rude manner and lack of care, she told me quite bluntly that she didn’t care what I thought. I would suggest that the owners take a good look at what is going on in their beautiful property, as it is a shame it is being run down in this way. I will not be returning under the current management.
