Sweet Evelyn

I loved this place when I regularly came approx 5 years ago. It was a nice vibe, table service, magnificent coffee and food. Unfortunately my recent visit, my coffee wasn't good. It was really bad. The milk tasted off. When I mentioned it to the team member, he checked the date of bottle that was on bench not in a fridge (wasn't busy) and said it has 11 more days. I've had milk go off even when well within BBD. He motioned to my friends coffee saying I used the same milk. We mentioned hers was Almond milk. Anyway I'm a big coffee drinker and I know of the milk isn't good. The offer to make another one felt like it was a nuisance.but I didn't want another one after tasting the bad milk. Please handle these situations with more care and apology. I understand things can go wrong, it's how we handle them and make the client feel that's key. Don't leave milk out when not busy, smell the actual milk as opposed to just checking the date. Just some suggestions.

My friends sausage roll looked like it was made a while ago, overcooked, warmed up and oily. She didn't love it.
Possibly the cooked meals are better, they used to be amazing.

Good coffee but the staff can be quite short with customers (this has happened to mates and I on multiple occasions).

Coffee was good. French toast was nice but a bit sweet. The only letdown was the service and atmosphere; advertised boldly with pet friendly courtyard but the waiter was standoffish with all the dog owners and kept asking people to move their dogs out the way. He seemed to be in a mood, when he walked past behind me bringing food to another table he let out a loud sigh right in my ear drum. Then when cleaning the table next to us after those people left, he sighed again and aggressively threw both glasses of water over the back wall and garden bed. We all have our bad days, we’re only human, but don’t make a big scene and take it out on the patrons that are paying you to do your job. That was a turn off and probably the first and last time we’ll come here.

Coffee was average at best and the barista has a real attitude problem. Kept whinging about how the coffee machine wasn't working properly, when clearly it was an issue with her grind and dose setting.

Came in early in the morning and got a breakfast to dine in, but partway through got up to use the rest room. By the time I got back, the barista/waitress had cleared my table + food I was still eating.

She wasn't apologetic and made weak excuses "your cutlery was on the side of the plate and that usually means you're done". Didn't apologize, and then made a half hearted comment about how she could "get the guys out the back to make me some more toast or something". When I declined her most generous offer of "toast", she blatantly ignored me and started talking to the other barista instead.

Left a very sour taste in my mouth to say the least.

This cafe was very popular on a drizzly Sunday, but there was just enough shelter in the courtyard to enjoy brunch. We appreciated the heating and the lovely ambience of the courtyard.
It’s disappointing the eggs in my “Eggs Purgatory” were hard boiled and not runny. It would have been noticeable to the chef/ staff that this was the case since the first thing I noticed were the very pale yellow yolks showing through the surface.
The burger and chips we ordered was lovely, so it is probable that we would come and try this cafe again some other time.

The spanakopita is great, really good chicken burger & good coffee - service wasn’t the best on entrance but maybe it was just one of those days!

Brought my mother-in-law here for an afternoon coffee and cake. It was end of day and my mother-in-law has dementia and can make a mess. The ladies were very nice to her and were very accomodating. Excellent service!

The coffee was very good and the lamingtons to die for.

My mother-in-law rejected the lamington at first but when I gave her a little bit, she no longer needed any help, she devoured it all by herself.

A little local cafe that's pet and family friendly. The service is relaxed and the place is warmly decorated with a section dedicated to what I presume is Evelyn's history. The coffee and food was good. #goodcoffee #goodcafe #goodsweets

Lovely cafe! Staff were so friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Pretty inside area and sunny outdoor area. 10/10!

Used to be a regular when the founder was in charge. Happy days back then. This place has changed hands several times. The latest mob were so awful, so many times, that I've never been back. Probably ok if you only want an average coffee but if you're expecting any remotely adequate dine-in service, you'll instead find you're somehow invisible or a chore to serve.

I love their food, especially the banana bread and burgers. They are all delicious. I also love the atmosphere of their courtyard. It's quiet and clean. The service is also good. This cafe is highly recommended.

Cozy little cafe off the busy strip! There’s more room out the back with enough shade as summer starts creeping in and water bowls for if you decide to take your cat for a walk.
Quick and friendly service and recommend the cold brew!

Good food, but so slow.

There was a step at the door, making it less accessible.

There were hidden fees when I paid.

Ordered on Deliveroo and they only delivered half the order without telling us the rest had sold out. Still charged service and delivery fee. Cheeky b*****ds. When I called they said I can come in to pick anything I wanted… what was the point of the delivery then?

Last time I come here, sadly. Twice now I've not been asked to check in, nor for proof of vax. Admittedly I sat outside, but I was dining in. Customers sitting either side of me weren't asked for proof either. I mentioned it to staff the first time, hoping it was a one off, but it seems to be standard practice. Time to find a new local.

One of my favourite aces always a creature of habit as I love their Tom Yum Omelette.

Super friendly staff and amazing food. I love the Heuvos Mexicano dish. Plenty of room to dine indoors or at the cute outdoor dining area. Always busy with coffee orders.

Great vibe at this well located accessible cafe. The staff are attentive and obliging. Plenty of well priced delicious breakfast and lunch options. The barista made sensational coffees, I’ll be back for more.

We always had great service and food at Sweet Evelyn, but they went above and beyond when we called them to do a gender reveal party at their outdoor space!

The backyard is very spacious, green and dog friendly, with a bit of sunshine in the afternoon (super cozy ambiance with heaters)?
The food is always fresh, delicious and well served, and the coffee is consistently brewed with perfection ️
And of course, the staff is so friendly and fast!

We couldn’t be happier for choosing Sweet Evelyn to held this special occasion!
