Decided to try as close by & positive reviews.
Very disappointed.soft shell crab salad only came with 2 pieces of crab. Yellow Curry bland & too sweet, no balance of flavours.
Service was also very slow.

A Mostly Enjoyable Thai Dining Experience

I recently visited this cozy Thai restaurant on Thomas St for dinner with a friend. We were promptly seated and started with an order of prawn crackers that were crispy.

For our main entrees, my friend got the honey chicken which was unfortunately a bit bland and lacking in flavor. I ordered the scallops in a red curry sauce that was phenomenal - the scallops were perfectly cooked and the creamy, spicy curry was complex and delicious. We also split an order of Chinese pork with broccoli which was quite tasty.

The restaurant filled up quickly as the night went on, creating a lively ambiance. Despite the growing crowds, the food came out fast and was nicely presented. The portions were adequate, providing enough to fill up without being overwhelming.

The service was attentive, with our server politely checking on us and refreshing our waters. The prices were reasonable.

Overall, it was a positive dining experience, with a few minor misses but mostly excellent Thai fare. The scallops in particular were a standout that I would eagerly order again. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone craving flavorful, authentic Thai cuisine in a charming atmosphere. A very solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Suwan Thai Cuisine has met my expectation in all aspects. The food is delicious and the papaya salad is the best in Melbourne so far. The staff is always friendly and welcoming us with a big smile. The place is always busy and they do takeaway as well. Overall I am very happy and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. Thank you Suwan, see you again very soon

Nice environment and good service. However, it is not traditional Thai and has been converted to something else.

People seemed to like it and they were quite busy.

If you like traditional Thai you wont like the food here.

I won't be returning.

This is the first time we have ordered from Suwan Thai and they did not disappoint! The food was ready on time and it was delicious. Highly recommend them for your next dining experience.

Suwan Thai is a very good Thai restaurant. Their dishes were tasty. We tried the potatoes prawns as a starter, which were good and original. The Massamun Beef Curry which was delicious, just the beef was a bit dry and the stir fried garlic and pepper on lettuce with coconut rice.
All dishes were delicious and staff was nice, friendly and helpfull.
Also, cost of dishes are very affordable.

Satay sauce is way too sweet than it should be.calamri is not fresh and very small portion

Had a work dinner here the other day. Very happy with the food delivered. Great taste, great quality. Succulent meats and fresh vegetables, perfectly fluffy rice. What more can a hungry customer ask for. I recommend you dig into the menu and get a selection of fantastic dishes.

What an amazing little secret of Hampton! Ordered for pick up before the end of lockdown - what a treat! The basics are done beautifully well - the food was amazing - probably the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Price was reasonable as well.
Will definitely be back - highly recommend.

Consistently the best Thai food I've had since travelling to Thailand! Moved to the CBD 8 months ago and despite trying numerous places, Suwan is still so good we drove down for a Sunday dinner that had us literally struggling to stifle our moans. So delicious! Proper green curry with everything you want, nothing wild and perfect heat and consistency. Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli is simply marvellous, and the satay chicken skewers are a lovely opening act. We will keep coming back whenever we can.

Best Thai in the area with great flavours. Get the coconut rice and dont use menu log as prices are more so order directly with Suwan Thai

What a gem this place is. Cosy and welcoming, with adorable staff and their vegan menu! So delicious! Can't wait to return and thank you for having so much choice for a table of six vegans x

A lovely cosy little restaurant to dine in. Fabulous service with a smile always. I lived in Thailand for 6 years so I know Thai food well. I recommend the Thai pancakes which is common in the markets in Thailand but I've not seen on menus in Australia. Suwan Thai s a great little local if you live nearby Hampton area:)

A very pleasant evening in this small restaurant. The decoration is well thought out to keep the reflected noise down with a side road access so there is no road noise. Service was prompt and not over zealous. Food presentation was A1 (we loved the dragon bowl) and our meals were tasty. The mixed starter was a real good option giving us a selection of the starters. Reasonable selection of bears and wines and also caters for BYO (bottle shop across the road).

Ordered the Chef's special was an excellent price so can't complain but the hot chicken cold salad combination doesn't work for me. The salad made the chicken that's supposed to be hot cold in places and wasn't that pleasant. Might be a menulog issue and the quality is still good just that issue is something they can make adjustments to for next time.

The food was very nice indeed and very authentic Thai style. The restaurant itself was very nicely and authentically presented and decorated in Thai style. Our waitress Jilli was extremely nice and did a wonderful job taking care of us. I would definitely recommend Suwan Thai Cuisine Hampton to others. All in all, it was a lovely evening out!

My go to takeaway and dine in. Nothing is too much trouble and they do a vegan menu, gluten free and cater for allergies. All with a friendly manner.
