SUSHI JIRO reviews
41 I would definitely give this place a try before reading too much into the negative reviews. Service was incredibly prompt despite what other reviews may say (coke and sprite came quite literally within 30 seconds of being ordered). Food was well priced and plenty of options.
I like the ability to order majority of the food available off the tablet as most sushi trains, depending on where you sit, the food you want is usually taken before it reaches you! Food arrival from order on the tablet to arrival at the table was also prompt.
8 plates of food varying in "plate type" came to approx $45 between two people which comparatively to other places we found very reasonable.
Overall, it is somewhere I do recommend (and will recommend) to others. I would be hesitant to read too much into the reviews and come in and test it out yourself.
Was looking for a light lunch whilst traveling though the area and I’m a sucker for a sushi train.
The dishes were mostly good and well sized, just disappointed in the quality of the ginger (yes it’s packets and I don’t have an issue with that. It was a bit on the dry side)
When I walked up to the place in the food court, the staff look at you and that’s it. Wasn’t offered water and wasn’t sure if I should just sit down. We just winged and watched other people. Did notice that they did provide some table service. You just had to be the right age group to get this service.
The bullet train was interesting to watch and a fun way to get your order. The train was full of goods but was laid out in a set way. So if you missed a category you had a bit of wait for it to come back.
Will try again if I’m in the area or if I find this chain some where else
This use to be our favourite sushi place. It’s going downhill lately. New staff chefs or severs? We usually go here every week or atleast 3 times a month since last 2 years. There has been few bad experiences in last couple of months but before this place was flawless from food to service. Yesterday, the sushi we order from tablet was coming on the spot like chefs didn’t prepare fresh just put it back from train. Fridge temperature was also not cold enough and we could feel our food bit warmer. Our favourite Salmon sashimi cuts have changed reduced in size and portion too. Sever don’t give water if you ask twice, they say go and take it from the POS machine by yourself. But if I have to rate this place 2 months back, I would rate 5 out of 5. I would still visit again because I am sushi addict and this is still one of the good places I know
Miso was extremely bland and disappointing. We had to wait 40min for udon which we ordered as soon as we sat down. Everything else that we ordered came but the udon. We had to ask 2 staff members when was it coming, and they only said they’ll check it but no response was given directly to us. No apologies given, no explanation, no nothing. Definitely won’t be coming back.
Large variety of sushi based dishes. Speedy service of dishes on request also. Can eat to your fill without breaking bank!
Normally try a different sushi place in the mall but wanted to try somewhere different
This place is so much better than my go to.
But I would say that the staff are not the most friendly.
Got take away sushi from here the other day - take note: it’s not difficult to say “thank you” to your customers so please do it. I won’t be back.
Environment is nice but the food is average. Don’t order abalone inari… crab salad isn’t real crab meat.the rest are fine.
Experienced the WORST WORST WORST service ever at Sushi Jiro express store opposite Starbucks. The girl was showing huge attitude and she was slamming the sliding door after grabbing the sushi out, not to even mention the way she grabbed the sushi. She was staring impatiently at my friend while my friend were choosing what sushi she wanted. We chose three sushi and she only picked two of them, because she can’t be bothered using the box to put three sushi in it. Instead of being apologetic, she said “you need to pay first if you want another sushi” in an extremely rude way. Ngl, seeing her serving as a front of house and with this kind of horrible service, makes me doubt whether the sushi here were fresh
Oh my goodness, i came here with my mum and my little sister and it was really yummy! Even though i’m not the biggest fan of raw fish they still had other options like udon soup and fried chicken which tasted so fresh and crunchyyyyy! My little sister likes this place as she got to wave hello and goodbye to the bullet train. The sushi was fresh and well prepared almost as if i was back in my hometown of japan. I cant wait to bring my friends here!
We ordered uber eats, the hot food was cold, the pancake was soggy and the worst part is the person who delivered it just left it outside the door and didn't even have the courtesy to knock or say delivery is here. The food probably sat outaide for some time. Terrible service, don't recommend anyone to this place.
Delicious Sushi, friendly staff, interesting train (Shinkansen) sending my orders. Quite a good restaurant recommended for both friends and family gatherings.
My friend and I enjoyed the dragon roll, chicken katsu udon and tiramisu mochi. The taste was so good.
Perfect place for quick feed, avoid peak hours, otherwise have to wait for a while before there is a table available.
Horrible service. Firstly the app won’t allow order from Doncaster. Then I called wanting to get a sushi platter for the next day, expecting since they open at 11am I can pick up by 11: 30am. Only was told the first pickup is at 12: 30pm.
A modern sushi train that isn't up to my current standard of sushi trains (Sushi Hotaru, Midcity Central).
Scallops were butter soft and not fresh. Same with the surf clams, which lacked sweetness. Wagyu Yakiniku did not have any "meat" flavour.
Salmon looked good (they use Huon salmon), but slices were rather thin on many sushi.
In my opinion, the "mix n match" pair a meat with a sauce combo leads to a very repetitive menu, which doesn't let the fish/meat shine. Some combos also don't seem to work.
This place seems popular but personally wouldn't go again. Sushi Hotaru simply is the best (so far).
Surprised at the low reviews. This is one of my favourites. Great sushi and accompanying hot food.
The experience is nice if you're looking for a sushi train, not overly expensive but i'd suggest order fresh and not to take too many things off the conveyor belt. Some of the items on the conveyor belt didn't look fresh and looked liked they had been there for a while.
Best Sushi Train I have ever been too. Staff are friendly, always clean and it's also reasonable priced. Would go here every week if I could. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Went here this afternoon for my birthday. I have been here three times this year. All I can say is this is hands down the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. You can either take the sushi directly from the rail, or order from the IPad. You can only order drinks from the Ipad. Whether you take the sushi from the rail or order them directly, they are always fresh. You need to be mindful, as you are only allowed one-hour dine-in if you are sitting on the booth. You may have to wait to be seated for around 20 mins if you arrive past 11am, however the wait is very much worth it as the sushi taste the best! I would definitely come back to Sushi Jiro. They have a decent range of Japanese desserts as well.
