Run in the opposite direction. They will do nothing once they take your money. Excuse after excuse - it is never their fault. All your neighbours will move in and you'll be left with nothing because SBG do nothing. Wish I knew how bad they were before I started with them. I don't know how they are still in business - probably from keeping the deposits of people they have done nothing for who have pulled the plug. If they could have negative stars I would.

Would not recommend at all.
Once you hand over last payment. Don’t expect anything for them.
3 years and still waiting for maintenance to be rectified.
Minor issues they will fix.
Major issues no contact at all.

Horrible humans.

This builder is a real cheater and please be aware our Sri lankan people. I have now put a notice board in our Berwick temple to safe gard from this coward builder who already cheated out Sri lankan community. I already met 7 families in the temple who got caught with this cheater and going to communicate our whole society in Clyde, Berwick and Cranbourne to avoid this cheater.

NO OUR SRI LANKAN COMMUNITY GET CHEATED BY THIS COWARD AND I IN THE PROCESS OF ORGANISING ABC, SBG MORNING TIME TO TELECAST THE ISSUES WHO HAD WITH THIS FAMILIES VERY SOON.

WORST BUILDING EXPERIENCE WITH SBG HOMES!

I highly advise against signing a contract with them and taking all the reviews against them seriously.

Where do I begin. The whole building experience was totally a nightmare.

Firstly, they delayed a lot in completion and handover of house.when we finally were handed the house, we noticed several issues requiring rectification at the final inspection. The biggest issue was the garage wall. The bricklaying in the garage walls was completed to an extremely poor standard, with either the mortar missing or hanging out of the bricks. There were so many holes everywhere in the mortar. Upon raising the issues, one of their rude building consultants, Claire refused to solve these for us, she simply said, “this is not to worry, anyways, you will stack things in front of the walls so no one will notice. ” Luckily we haven’t had made the final payment and denied to make it unless they fixed all those issues.

Six months later, January 2020, big cracks began to appear in different areas and there was also issue with opening front door. The cracks were not minor, extending deep from one wall to other, at the entry ceiling along with at different areas. After sending several emails and making many phone calls, they finally agreed to inspect the issues and send a Tradie to fix that. The trade simply filled the cracks and informed us that he would return to paint over the area within 2-3 weeks. And what can you expect? No one came to finish the job. And to our surprise, just after few weeks, those cracks appeared back at the same regions, and again very long and deep.
Since then (May 2020), we have constantly been chasing them up by sending so many emails and only last month (May 2021) they organised a time with us to inspect these issues again. And guess what My husband took the day off and waited for them to come to inspect, no one showed up. Again after making many phone calls, we were told that Tradie will come tomorrow in the morning.
Next day, Rob from SBG came to inspect the issues and took some pics and reassured that he will come back at 4pm to fix the door and organise to repair the cracks asap.
Again another day off from work and we waited for him until 5pm, no one turned up. We tried to make many phone calls to Rob, no answer at all.
He didn’t even bother to inform that he won’t be able to make it today. We sent text msgs but no reply from him.
After we sent many emails to SBG (Kellie) but they haven’t responded to any email or phone call.
So it’s been about 18 months since we have been chasing them to fix these issues. Please don’t fall for their words and false promises.
It’s so frustrating and upsetting. This entire experience really confirms how inconsiderate they are of their customers and what “warranty” means to them. I’ve been left with no choice but to escalate this issue with consumer affairs further.

Please don’t bother wasting your money and time by signing building contract with them I cannot describe how much of a headache it has been to deal with them, and I hope these reviews can ensure the rest of you avoid them!

If you have just signed a contract with them and paid initial deposit of $1000, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend losing the deposit and freeing yourself of this nightmare
The others who are already building with them, please make sure you hire a good private inspector to inspect the work at all stages and please don’t make final payment unless all the issues/ defects are rectified.
PlS DON’T TRUST SBG AT ALL OTHERWISE YOU WILL ONLY REGRET LATER.

I have some very very bad experience and I will publish in details from beginning to as of now about what happened to my house handed over in Dec '20 where not actually completed for living in up to now May'21 (12 months) for saving innocent people who intent go with this builder.
Please dont recommend this coward builder for any one as still giving false promises without fixing the heating and cooling

Worst ever Business I dealt with, Never ever sign up with this Company.may as well donate to charity, poor post sales service, Except kellie in the company, no one else responds to emails, Company promises one thing, delivers another, Owner call us stupid, says one thing verbally but backs off when asked in writing. Waiting since December to get the handover, still no idea when we will get our house. Poor workmanship, based on the inspection report.stay away from them if you value your money.

Its been 18 months since our house was hand over. It's impossible to get the 3 month maintenance done.no one replies to emails. When we talk directly they say the work is not important. We have carpets missing from our wardrobe. Building process was a struggle as well. Front loaded contract. Which mean your build will get done at the beginning but will stop for 9 months for the last stage.will not recommended to anyone.

SBG homes really deserve negative rating. Before you sign the contract, you get treated like a customer. Once you have signed the contract then "sorry who are you"? They rush up to fixing stage, going through slab, framing, brick work and fixing stage in the mater of 2-3 months. Once the fixing stage invoice is paid then they focus on new contracts and new builds as they have already got most of the contract price and now you just have to wait. Lot of people who had built through SBG warned me of this practice. I paid my fixing invoice almost 5 months ago (covered 80% of contract price) and since then no work has been undertaken. I was told in November tiling is going to start next week and I get told the same story every 2 weeks. You have to send 5 email and 5 calls and you get one back. When they say we will call, that call is not coming, you can wait as much as you want. It has been such a bad experience with SBG which includes sending invoices before stage is completed, changing material, not advising re the completion of stage and by doing so you can not engage a private building inspector. Once the report is submitted then you wait for rectification but that is like climbing mount Everest. Nothing is simple and straight forward with SBG homes. They can not tell if anything has been done in last 5 months, when was the last time building inspectors went to the house, they don't allow inspection of the home. Why so much secrecy? Week after week I call them, email them asking for an update and cant get straight answers. I so much regret going with SBG homes as they clear do not have the professionalism, communication skills, resources to complete the work. All they are interested in is taking new contracts and forgetting about projects which are half completed. It is best to go with reputable builders who stand by their work and timelines, you may pay a bit more but it is all worth. Many of my neighbours had their homes completed in 20 weeks, they moved in December and mine is no where near completion, all thanks to SBG homes. They don't care about any customer, how much it is costing them or the stress they are causing to their customers.

Worst Company to deal with I've had in a while. Waiting for a payment for a fence that I built over 3 years ago to receive my part payment. Empty promises and no payment, constant run around and no action. If you want to build don't choose this company if you like efficiency.

Definitely not, We signed up with SBG to build our townhouse in Cranbourne East & 25 months later its still not finished therefore we decided to end our contract.
Our conveyancer requested our deposit of $46880 be returned to us 5 weeks ago which should have be held in their trust fund & to release us from our contract which we can do under the 24month sunset clause, to which this company ignored all communication from our conveyancing firm & I, but they re-listed our property (Highly Illegal)
I have now had to get lawyers involved, to which this company is even ignoring the lawyers. Absolutely shattered a company can do this & they have caused me to have a mental break down.
Im also now having to take this issue to VCAT & today contacted A Current Affair. I wanted to give a small company a chance.never again.they dont deserve one star

Hi Leanne, we are another victim of this sham builders group. It is almost 2.5 yrs we signed up for this town house and now just gave up hope. I cannot believe these scammers can operate openly like this. This tells the state of VBA and the cronies running it. I hope you get your money back in full. If they get a buyer to your signed house they should release your money.

I wish we checked these reviews before signed up. We signed up thinking a local company may do a better job but these people are worse than indian, nigerian telephone scammers.it is a shame a company like this can operate this easily and scam anyone.

SBG destroyed my first home dream. They have been building my home now nearly for 12 months and none of the defects have been fixed. All they want is your money and you are on your own. If I had seen these reviews before, I wouldn't have signed contract with them at all. I urge any potential SBG customers to think as many times and just walk away from them. They would say don't worry about those reviews and only a very few are complaining. But this is the case with everyone, I believe.

We moved into our house about 8 months ago and since then I’ve been calling them every week to fix up the defects and UNFINISHED work. But NO one cares and keeps putting our work for later, same old story every week “we are busy. ” yeah right busy trapping other people’s dreams. They seem to think it is alright to ruin everyone’s dreams and life like this.

Started building a custom home with SBG last year, and so far i have been very happy with their work, Claire the person who looked after us has been very flexible and supportive with our decisions and has helped a great deal in getting everything sorted out. So far we are also very happy with the office team and building team.

Very hard to deal with after construction begins. No reply to emails and never return calls. My partner and I are going through such a pain by getting SBG to build my second home. Never recommend to anyone. Can expect massive delays and they never fix build issues.

Absolutely horrible experience by Angelo & his team. Nothing was delivered according to promise. Whenever we tried to complain against, Angelo behaved very rudely & did not pay heed to. No manners in customer handling. SBG - YOU GUYS DESERVE LESS THAN A SINGLE STAR.

It took around 11 months to complete our home. Finally handover happened, Appointed an independent inspector, could not find any major issues, just some minor things to make us happy. He himself said the house is well built. SBG fixed the issues before the handover,

Built house with them and service is amazing. Can't fault it, they are good at what they do. Perfect house with no issues in the progress and no delays. Good work guys! Building Inspector was also happy with the built.
Claire was always a great help.
