Super Mande Percussion - African Drumming Academy & Performance - Melbourne reviews
35Absolutely loved the Drum Making Workshop, met wonderful people, came out with my very own drum that I had a hand in making and Mady is a true Artisan, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
What a fantastic experience for our scholars and parents. Students have not stopped talking about Mady and Coffee at Super Mande Percussion. Such as uplifting performance, got people out of their seats in a highly engaging interactive performance. Everyone had a go at playing the drums and an experience of a lifetime especially heading towards the holidays period, students and parents were feeling exhausted, and this was exactly what all of us needed. We can't thank you enough and we will always remember the catch phrase "Scholarly Hub Afternoon Tea" which Coffee embedded in his performance and we are still singing it. Thank you for making it an unforgettable experience.
A fantastic opportunity for Year 9s to engage with culture and music - thank you for such an exciting, dynamic and enthusiastic day!
I completed a 'Make your own Djembe' class with Mady earlier this year as a birthday present. While I haven't had time to come down for follow up lessons yet, the workshop and a lesson I did with Mady prior were fantastic. There were a wide variety of carved drum shells to choose from, and a colourful combination of hoop cover material and strings. Mady was kind with his time, had a great assortment of entertaining stories to share, and entertained us with rythyms, songs and their stories while we worked.
Great for anyone wanting to learn about rhythms, or for musicians wanting to brush up on their timing and rhythmic feel. Highly recommend.
I took my Djumbe in to Mady to have a new skin put on. Mady did the work for me immediately.i would highly recommend super mande percussion to anyone for quality work.
Highly recommended! The only place to buy genuine quality African drums with unrushed and super friendly service. Purchased a drum for a friend here. Within 1 week her cat bit and pierced the skin causing it to split (maybe the cat’s revenge!) Madi replaced the skin very promptly on our next trip from Adelaide to Melbourne and refused to accept any payment.
Our students and staff loved learning about traditional rhythms with Madi. The workshops were fun and engaging and the final performance was a great way to share the experience with families. Thanks for your energy and expertise Madi and Sophie! Highly recommended.
I saw these guys today at Victoria Market at the African festival. They did an impromptu jam, just off stage, during one of the breaks. They were brilliant and they just looked like they were having so much fun.
Mady from Super Mande Percussion came to play at the Nunawading Community Hub at a fund-raiser called Feast for Freedom for the Asylum Seeker Resources Centre. He was generous with his time. We loved his djembe drumming and his traditional Mali attire. It was a wonderful cause and Mady gave the evening a rhythm and air of excitement. Thank you. June MacDonald.
We loved having Super Mande Percussion at our Bridges to Harmony event - a pleasure to work with and had everyone - young and old - up and moving. Really helped create the atmosphere at our event! Thank you!
Thanks Mady for reskinning my drums last week - they are absolutely amazing.exactly what I was after.and thanks for bringing your music and talent to Australia.we're super lucky to have the chance to learn and play with you. Looking forward to jamming soon!
Had a great time drumming with Super Mande.
Really enjoyed Mady's teaching style and environment he creates for his classes. Great experience!
I have been taking group lessons with Madi and recently made my own drum with my mum with Madi.it was such an amazing experience for us to do together. Madi puts so much effort in and nothing was too much trouble. I appreciate my drum so much more than if I had just bought it. I never knew how much time and care goes into making one! I would highly recommend both the classes and the drum making workshop.
Such great fun! The students (and staff!) had a great time. Everyone was completely engaged, and remembered the songs and rhythms they were taught. They were able to get the students playing fun and complicated rhythms with ease. They were very professional and having every student with access to their own high quality drum was such a treat. The pricing was also very reasonable, which makes it possible within a limited budget. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for the AMAZING african Drumming incursion. The children and teachers thoroughly enjoy their time with you. All the children got to drum, dance and sing with you guys. The energy was high, the particpation was 100% and our 2 african drummers were enthusiastic. Highly recommend.
Mady and the boys provided such an uplifting and captivating contribution to Dandenong World Fare yesterday. It was wonderful to have Super Mande back and we just love the energy you added. That drumming, just WOW! We look forward to working with you at future events.
Abli ran such a fabulous workshop for our playgroup. The kids and the adults alike had a great time. Really good energy!
Definitely worth to try. We had lots of fun there. Mande is a great teacher. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I definitely go there again. Cause kids loved it. Parking was easy.
I strongly recommend Mady Keita, should anyone wish to make a Djembe. He is very knowledgeable in the art of crafting African drums. I took a ‘one-on-one’ Djembe making course with him. The final product is worth much more than what you can get in a shop and he also gives free introductory lessons. The environment is very casual and relaxed. Mady is very patient, helpful, and pays attention to detail. I walked away as a very satisfied customer. I would also highly recommend Mady, should you need to ‘re-skin’ a drum. He does more than just re-skin. In the process, he checks for any defects in the drum and repairs them (e.g. Fills up cracks) and replaces parts, if required, (e.g. Strings, rings etc.), at no extra costs. I was there to witness it. Very impressed by the pride and care he took to restore the drums. Do yourself a favor, check him out!
