Sucre du jour reviews
37We ate an ispandan tart and boy was it a joy! Love the flavours, and especially the fact that it wasn't overly sweet or heavy. They can do takeaway or you can sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with your delicious insta-worthy treat~
Sucre Du Jour is #1! It's absolutely worth waking up early to drop into their sweet serene shop before the brunch rush. Cakes are magical. Egg tart is the best we have ever had, including compared to overseas. Above all the staff are so kind, passionate and friendly. Thanks again for your hard work! We are beyond impressed ️
The way they layer the flavours that come out of the cakes is absolutely masterful and rare to have. More of an experience.
Pastry here is oeuf-ing good! Open on sundays.
Tried the candied pork a.k. A Bak Kwa croissant and a danish.
Also, frozen = not fresh? How wrong can we be? Purpose of freezing is to retain freshness.
Give your tastebuds a surprise here!
Have been there for birthday cake a few times. Staff are super nice and friendly. Delicious cake, they offer different sizes! Definitely will come back for more.
The team at Sucre Du Jour were absolutely amazing. I stumbled across them on a trip one time in Camberwell and found them to be a supplier for wedding cakes. They were able to incorporate asian flavours into our wedding cake and they did so perfectly. All of our guests were so happy with our cakes. Highly recommend these guys not only as a local patisserie but if you ever need a wedding cake. 10/10! Thank you for our beautiful wedding cake!
Nice atmosphere, but coffee cup size at $4.57 is not great value, little more than a couple of mouthfuls
Last weekend, on a sunny winter day after a birthday celebration, we were in the mood for some elegant cakes and coffee, and decided to give it a try. We stumbled upon Sucre du jour Patisserie on Burke Road in Camberwell. Although it may not be in the busiest or most popular part of Burke Road, the shop caught our attention with its beautiful and elaborate cake displays.
Upon entering, the ambience didn't fully convey the artistry that awaited. The visually stunning cakes called to us, inviting us to indulge in their culinary charm. Yet, in a world where appearances can usually overshadow flavor, we approached with anticipation. Would these cakes live up to their visual splendor? We were about to discover.
We opted for two delightful treats: the Charlotte and the Pista-Choux 2.0. The Charlotte, with its attractive shape and vibrant colors, oozed deliciousness. Normally, I'm not particularly fond of overly sweet treats and tend to stop after just a few bites. But the balance between sweetness and the tangy, aromatic flavors of Yuzu and raspberry in the Charlotte was irresistible. Everything about the cake, from the delicious and light texture to the perfectly crafted biscuit base, was exceptional. It not only looked amazing, but also tasted incredible.
The Pista-Choux 2.0 was another star. Often, you come across beautiful cakes that try to showcase certain ingredients, but when you taste them, those flavors get lost amidst the multitude of other elements. However, this cake truly embodied the essence of pistachio. Its complex structure featured Whipped Pistachio Chantilly at its core, surrounded by meticulously arranged components. But the standout feature was the unmistakable pistachio flavor. Unlike many fancy desserts that end up tasting overwhelmingly sweet, this cake stayed true to its pistachio roots.
Overall, our experience at Sucre du jour Patisserie was delightful. We stumbled upon this hidden gem and were impressed by the cakes they offered. In fact, we were so enamored by the Charlotte cake that we couldn't resist bringing one home with us. It was an undeniably fantastic encounter that left us with a desire to return and explore more of the culinary delights Sucre du jour Patisserie has to offer. This hidden gem has certainly piqued our curiosity, and we look forward to our next visit.
Local favourite - so happy to have Sucre du jour in close proximity and hope it stays that way for a long time. Everything is perfect - decadent but so balanced. The service is always wonderful too - so friendly and patient with customers who can’t make up their mind with the beautiful array of desserts on offer.
A really excellent offering of pastries and cakes. Paired with good coffee, it’s a very easy yet highly enjoyable way to spend your morning. Attentive staff as well as sufficient seating for a small group. Not pictured here is the their bakwa (pork jerky) croissant - this is possibly one of the most glorious inventions I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Have had it a few times now, and there just hasn’t been enough time to snap a photo before stuffing it into my face. Be mindful that this and some of their other specialty croissants can take about 10 minutes to prepare after order.
Nice little patisserie which sells a large variety of products ranging from cakes, cookies, bread, croissants and other sweet Savoury items. The croissants, Portuguese tarts, cookies, cakes were alright. The food definitely looks and sounds better than it tastes including the cakes.
However, the stand out for us is the Macadamia and Cereal tart is something you would want to share with everyone. When bitting into it there’s a lot going on that you can’t explain it. It’s got a combination of sweet, crunchy/biscuity but at the same time soft where the caramel is, the pinch of site is compliments the caramel. It’s something we can’t explain and you just need to try it yourself, hands down the best cake we’ve ever had!
I've tried a lot of cakes and pastries in my life but these are easily the best I've found in Melbourne! Five different items and all five were perfect with no room for any constructive criticism… I'll be back for many more
One of the VERY best cake shops in Melbourne.
Beautifully designed, made and with so much love. AMAZING!
Love the cakes from this shop! Very unique blend of ingredients that I didn’t normally see at other places. The cakes themselves weren’t too sweet which was how I liked. And the menu is constantly changing so there are plenty of new flavors to try.
Asian inspired desserts and pastries. All items are made to a high standard and the sweetness is balanced against salt. Our go-to local patisserie.
Wonderful little cafe that serves great coffee and amazing baked goods. The Earl Grey and Gianduja croissant was a standout.
Those cakes look really beautiful but very disappointed with the flavours. Bought 4 small cakes, lemon tart, hazelnut, chestnut and the milk chocolate tart, flavours are bland, not as good as it looks, really don't understand those 5 stars reviews above.
Price is okay if they taste good, but I wouldn't go back even the price drop 30% off, disappointed.
I ordered 3 cakes for my partner’s birthday and I can say it was amazing! I really recommend sucre du jour for birthday cake! Big mention for the vanilla flan! The delivery was really on time as well!
Thanks again!
Great selections of Croissant and cakes. Balanced flavours, will be returning to try their special weekly loaded croissants.
So delicious I forgotten to take photo before swallow them all.
My only complain is I live too far from them XDDDDD
