Studley Park Boathouse reviews
74Love the place! Awesome ambience and good is really yum! Had the broccoli Salad and it was delicious!
Walked in on a busy sunny Sunday and had to wait only for 15minutes! Would highly recommend
Not sure i like the river view being obstructed on top deck. Very accomodating for bike group.
We chose to have our Christmas lunch at the recently renovated Studley Park Boathouse, and I was excited to learn from the Age that it's regarded as Victoria's best riverfront location.
The weather was not at her best, but we weren't deterred and ventured out ready for a new taste adventure.
The service staff seated our small group after extending a kind welcome, and a glass of sparkling wine materialised shortly after. The appetisers didn't take long to arrive: a beautiful assortment of freshly shucked oysters with the flavour of the sea, really excellent prawns, a French-inspired pork terrine, and a rather good tomato salad with a dash of pistachios.
Mains didn’t disappoint. Christmas fare of ham, turkey, heirloom carrots, broccolini, and lashings of rosemary roast potatoes. How on earth was one able to have a desert? Needless to say, we managed the scrumptious Christmas pudding with the traditional custard and cream. A lovely finish to a yummy meal.
I highly recommend the SPB for its great Christmas menu, great service, and charming ambience.
Beautiful place, super friendly on-it staff members. Highly recommend for this spring/summer time.
I booked two months in advance from UK as part of my trip. Was really shocked when I arrived and was told anyone with a booking had to wait in an hour long queue in the hot sun before being seated. Worst service ever.not worth being treated so badly for a run of the mill puzza
We were very fortunate that we had pre booked the cafe for 4 people as they were so busy they were not taking walk up patrons. The Barramundi, Parma and Chicken leak pie were delicious. The Mocha coffee was also top notch. Service was very professional and efficient. It was a beautiful summers day so the place was packed with people enjoying the outdoors, no long queues for us but the car park was full and had to wait for a park for a short period of time. The place was a delightful place to visit with the huge national park feel to the surrounds so close to the city.
Enjoyed our day. The food was delicious and generous size for the kids meal. We loved our boat ride after lunch! We made some great memories here and can't wait to come back to make many more!
We enjoy coming to the Boathouse for good food and friendly service. Unfortunately, yesterday's experience was not what we've grown accustomed to. We waited an hour for our food order, and after half an hour, we needed to remind staff that our drinks had not arrived. Given the unfortunate circumstances we are now living in, I think it is perfectly understandable that there are delays, whether because of staff shortages, or illness due to covid. As customers, we must be considerate and understand our expectations in the current climate. We felt very sorry for the young ladies waiting on us because they were busy with orders and doing their best. However, they did an exceptional job of serving everyone in the cafe. I am not sure if our meals and drinks were forgotten because there was no explanation given, but given the lengthy time we had to wait, I'm not sure if I would be rushing to go back to this beautiful location at the Boathouse anytime soon. I hope that things improve because we are keen to head back again one day and enjoy another fine meal and friendly service. Thank you for the opportunity in offering feedback—all the best to all your staff and for hopefully a much better year in 2022.
A little bit disappointing considering how much you pay. The experience with our waiter was like something out of 'Fawlty Towers' - it took several explanations for them to understand that 4 people would need 4 water glasses and 4 sets of cutlery, rather than 3 (?).
We had a 30 min wait just for coffee and the regular cappuccino was closer to a babycino in size, I've never seen one that small at any other cafe in Melbourne. Seems unnecessary.
The food when it came shortly after was very good.
I understand there is a general worker shortage however it might be best to adjust the number of seats to reflect the short staffing rather than lower the standard of service for everyone in the name of profits.
Beautiful surround and a great place to spend the day with friends and family, by the river and set among native trees. Food is ok and wine list is so so, but most people are not here for that.
We hired a boat yesterday. It was so much fun. I wanted to highly compliment the young guy who assisted us and was just so hospitable and friendly. We were there about 2.05 getting our boat. I wanted to comment as he could have been tired and gruff dealing with so many people but he was just so friendly and happy!
It was a wonderful day today up there, despite of having morning coffee I really desired to have another one in this really nice place and nice weather in Christmas, but the lady took my order then start to teach her employee how to make coffee and sold it to me! Actually I didn’t say anything just because of the young girl was trying to learn.
But dear owner! Teaching your employees is investment for you which you need to pay for it as you’ll get a lot more later, that’s not my business to pay for your worker learning tasks!
That’s ridiculous ️
I just sipped a little bit of my coffee in front of the young girl (probably was her first coffee ever made) and smiled to show her it’s good and encouraging her to keep trying but, I really couldn’t keep drinking the coffee I paid $5.5 for. ️
The view is good, but no personal orders from waitress. You have to order and pay online which is a pain and they also charge an extra surcharge on top.
Very glad to be allowed to have my dog on the cafe verandah. Friendly service, maybe a tad slow given they weren't busy, however it was a hot new year's Day, so it can be forgiven.
Don’t bother booking the boat in advance. They don’t reserve it for you and you will need to stand in the line with people that show up without booking. It is only a commitment from your side.
The food and service was great. Just needs a bit of a tidy up. Looking pretty drab. Perfectly positioned right on the river
Beautiful park with a nice surroundings &
beautiful cafe Great food and service ️ Is amazing
Lovely park that is situated close to the city. Great picnic facilities and full of a variety of birds. We saw a large blue tongue lizard lumbering across the pathway. Food parking, toilet facilities and the boathouse has a cafe and boat hire.
The kiosk is now a shocker. It used to be so good. You would order your food and be given a little buzzer that vibrates when your order is ready. These days they stand at the counter continually yelling out people’s names when their order is ready. So much for the tranquility of the place. Last time we visited the toasted chicken and Brie sandwich was stone cold in the middle. And fairly pricey at $15. I thought maybe they were having a bad day. Anyone can. Gave them another shot today. My mates had toasted ham cheese tomato focaccias. And. Stone cold in the middle. I ordered scones. They were rock hard. Staff were lovely but the food is overpriced and substandard. Sorry team, we won’t be back.
