Studio Truth reviews
40Curtis preys on inexperienced musicians, and from talking to him, I think he might be mentally insane
Curtis was amazing to work with. I am an absolute beginner as far as recording in a studio goes. He was very patient and guided me through the whole process. We ended up recording an Ep. So I would say he is the best man for the job. Pressure free environment.
Curtis was amazing to work with and did a beautiful job on my song. He was careful to take on all feedback, and put in every effort to align his work with my vision. He valued added to my ideas time and time again, and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. I'm looking forward to working with Studio Truth again!
Absolutely thrilled with my experience at Curtis' studio! The professionalism, top-notch equipment, and incredible attention to detail made for an outstanding recording session. Curtis' expertise and passion truly shine through in the final product. Highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for exceptional quality.
Curtis is a consummate professional, whilst creating a relaxing environment that brings the best out in a creative setting. The product wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good if Curtis hadn’t been in control. Will be back.
Now I understand why this studio is called Truth. Cabaret, pop, jazz, ballads, rock, disco; there wasn't a track that Curtis didn't instantly understand or know what to do with. He just gets it. Even on the odd occasion we've disagreed, he's open minded and patient. Music runs through his veins. One of Father Daddy's favourite boys. Peace be with THIS MAN IN PARTICULAR
Entering the studio, I was quite nervous. I've never recorded a demo before and had no idea of where to begin. All I gave Curtis was a song and he took care of the rest. He made me feel comfortable, was great with feedback and was happy to help. The equipment is top notch and the finished product at the end blew us away. I will definitely be visiting again soon.
Curtis did the mastering for my 2022 album. I did say that I would be back for my next album which I did. Curtis finished mixing and mastering my 2023 album, Peace River, just recently. He is attentive, very knowledgeable and honest with his feedback. A pleasure to work with, especially for me, a non-technical musician more literate with jargon that would better suit a cafe than a studio. Yes, I would certainly recommend Studio Truth to anyone who cares about the quality of their sound. And Yes, I will be back again for my next album project.
Excellent facilities and top notch mixing/engineering.
Curtis is also a highly valuable producer for anyone wanting to take their beats/songwriting to the next level!
If we as artists can come into a studio to put our stuff down and be able to access both a high level of skill and expertise regarding the recording process and a personable and genuine experience regarding the collaborative process then we are kicking goals! These were the two things that stood out for me the most upon reflecting on my experience with Curtis.
It was a positive experience on all fronts!
Jump in guys and let Curtis and Studio Truth in on your journey! You won't be disappointed.
Curtis is SUCH a joy to work with - you couldn’t leave your music in safer hands. His skills and passion are second to none, and it shows in the final tracks. He brings great energy to the studio and is so easy to communicate with!
I read all his reviews and really thought he would be a great choice to record my live album.
I was told I was recording in a completely different studio space than I was on the day.
I was told it would be Curtis with someone else and it was only Curtis recording on to this laptop not even using the in house system.
Then the stems I received were distorted, pitched wrong and had bleed of other instruments within the stems.
He then told me he could mix my album to a radio ready level, yet when I was sent my mixes they were completely unfinished. He then refused to finish the mixes without payment beforehand. Then he promised me he would fix them after payment, yet then went away for a month without finishing my music. He then sent me the wrong stems and only the selections he made not the ones I chose on the day.
He then refused to reply to me over text and would only talk to me through email, after making me feel like we had a nice relationship.
I would honestly not recommend him as a good choice if you are looking for anything radio worthy….
I’m not usually one to review but I was unbelievably shocked by the outcome of my work with him and his attitude towards his version of a finished product….
Tracked an album with Curtis. All stems had excessive static and electronic hum which were louder than instrumental signal on all tracks.
After an initial quote of $10,000 for mixing alone (granted Curtis reduced his rate to $1500, immediately once he found out we had gone elsewhere) Curtis took on mixing as well.
During mixing he either refused, or was unable, to fix the static issues because it "would take hours". He also refused to correct vocals stems that he had run through autotune in the wrong key during revisions because he had "already printed" the take and it "would take hours" to go through the vocals take note by note to correct the incorrect autotune.
Curtis required payment for a full mix which still had not been completed to a minimum industry standard before releasing the already purchased stems in tracking.
We have since gone to another mixer who has been able to remove static, retune vocals and create our vision.
I have personally recorded on over 80 albums in 20 studios and have never experienced such a poor attitude and end result, let alone from someone who has the confidence to quote 4x higher than the top leading mixers in the industry.
I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Always such a pleasure to record with Curtis; they’re super professional, caring and they always bring fun vibes. Defs recommended for pop vocals!
We love Truth Studios at Tomboi Records! Getting vocals done with Curtis is super easy and relaxed! He’s quick on the sessions and we have been happy with the outcome!
Best studio In the Southern Hemisphere and Curtis. Wow. What a diamond. Nothing beats a great engineer and studio with this level of skill
Curtis is extremely welcoming and easy going. His professionalism makes the whole production process a pleasure to complete. Would recommend 100%
Working with Curtis has been one of the best experiences I've had in my music career so far. He is extremely talented and accommodating and always makes the studio a fun and comfortable place. He has great ideas and amazing technical knowledge. Highly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant. Working with Studio Truth has been a truly rewarding experience. Hat's off to Curtis for his professionalism and amazing abilities.

Not a "studio" so much as a "time machine", in which you can save yourself weeks of careful fine tuning by having Curtis do it in 10 minutes. Highly recommend.
