Strapper Surf Torquay

The folks at Strapper Surf Torquay are some of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered. Fantastic customer service. They went above and beyond to help me out. They gave great advice for a beginner surfer. Diving into the world of surfing can be daunting but these guys make you feel welcomed. Highly recommend for surfers of all levels and abilities!

Strapper Surf shop is still exactly how a surf shop should be. Lot's of variety of surfboards and accessories plus many different wetsuits and clothing to choose from. The employees are all local surfer's that love to help and share good advice. They will listen to you no matter if you surf or not and find what you are looking for. Great team in there. Highly recommend visiting

Picked up a FireWire seaside from there on Saturday over the Anzac long weekend and the guy who talked to me was really knowledgeable and helpful, listened to what I said and gave some expert advice. Absolutely stoked with the board and it was cheaper than if I’d bought it online. I’d happily drive all the way from the Peninsula to buy from him again!

The young tall blond haired guy that was shoulder length was amazing (sorry didn’t get his name). He was very helpful even before I brought my surf board we checked that it actually fit into my car which it did. He set up the fins and the strap. He made sure I got the right wet suit. And even walked the surf broad out to my car again and put it into my car. He didn’t try to up sell anything I didn’t need and made sure that I understood how to take care of my broad. He made sure what I needed as someone who has never surfed a day in their life. I would highly recommend anyone who wants/needs to get a board or anything surf related I would go here.

Thanks for the excellent service from Cullen and the owner of Strapper Surf Torquay. After a manufacturing fault- they worked with supplier and offered us options above and beyond - kindly replacing our boards with others to keep us happy and in the water. The young bloke who helped my teenage sons and I with wetsuits was great. Product knowledge around differing brands and fit. I Couldn’t be happier. Being new to the sport it’s our go to surf shop. Keep up the great work STRAPPER SURF ‍️

I purchased a pair of booties, I tried them in the shop but didn’t realise the strap was not long enough for my ankle. I came back and explained everything to the manager but he refused a refund or even a trade for something else. The booties were never been used. Very disappointed because we use to buy here often.

I’m sending out a huge thank you to Micheal and his team at Strapper Surf Shop in Torquay. After suffering some truly nasty injuries over the last few years I thought that my surfing days were numbered. It was cold and painful. My old wetsuit leaked like a Japanese whale on a research vessel.
Micheal convinced me that a new kit would restore the love! And it sure did. The new O’Neill wetsuit that Micheal selected for me fitted like an absolute dream and was stunningly warm. It was almost “peaceful” being rolled and churned by a big Winkipop close out on Sunday evening. Whilst the shoulder zip is a contortionist challenge, once in the suit it worked a treat.
The new wetsuit booties reminded me othe feeling you get from lovely thick explorer socks on a freezing cold day. An absolutely treat.
Micheal’s love of surfing and decades of industry knowledge make him a surfing guru and he has gathered a wonderful team around him. So whether you an enthusiastic or a novice Strapper Surf is absolutely the place to go for whatever your surfing needs are. (Plus the award winning store is incredibly well stocked and had a huge variety)

This is my second review of Strapper Surf shop. I can’t say enough about how awesome awesome this shop is. Had a small issue with the board bag I bought with my board they help hook me up with. Exchanged it no questions asked. I highly recommend anyone visiting Torquay to hit this shop up. Never once got any attitude from them, nothing but heaps helpful and typical friendly Aussie’s.

Good spot to hire boards. Cassie were really friendly and helpful.even from the other side of the Pacific.helped me with my board choice for next trip down there. Huge selection of boards and gear.

Bought a new board from them just over a year ago for $800, where it seems that every time the board touches something (even softly), it would result in a crack or chip! I have had 4 repair jobs on the board, which has resulted in me spending over $250 to try and fix these problems. I now look back on the board as a terrible purchase, as it is now unrideable due to its most recent break. After this experience, I will never purchase from Strapper again.

These guys have a board to suit anybody, and know their stuff so will help you find it. And happy to cut a deal if you buy a bit of gear. A real surf shop. My grom is stoked with his mini cruiser, thanks guys.
