I walked in with a leather necklace that needed repairing (the glue had come loose). Peter talked through the different options for repairing and ended up stitching the leather to far better than new. A real craftsman and lovely human to boot. Thank you Peter!

Had a great experience with Stockdale Leather today. I ordered a belt some time ago and it wasn't the right size. I dropped by the store and it was adjusted at no cost (my offer of payment was gently refused). The store is really interesting. Some of the tools are more than 100 years old and the owner really takes great pride in his work. Prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent (with great attention to detail). Had a lovely chat and was glad I dropped by. Highly recommended.

Wanted a simple seat repaired or replaced. Told me it wasn’t possible to repair so replacement was necessary. He spend some time explaining to me which leathers were suitable and what was available. Said I would need to purchase half a hide. I asked for the estimated cost he said he didn’t have time to do it. As he was too busy with commercial jobs. Don’t know why he was wasting time talking to me about options if he didn’t have time to do the job at all. Maybe he should put a sign on the door saying “not taking anymore jobs”. Best if he closes the doors and gets to work on all of the commercial work he has to do.
I then took it to my local shoe repair store and they said they could repair it no problem! Said it would be ready the next day! Will pick up tomorrow. To be continued!

Thank you for your response, I see you didn’t deny what happened. Why are you bothered that someone else could do the job that you didn’t have time for? Darken your doorstep, hmm I came in with positivity and all you gave me was no, no, no. You clearly think my job is beneath you. I have a very positive and skilled leather repair person that will be doing all of my jobs going forward. You are not the only leather repairer in Melbourne and many others have the same machinery.
You also said that I shouldn’t dye/paint leather. Well I do and successfully with pigments made especially for changing the colour of leathers. It can be done and it doesn’t come off and it looks amazing. I have done it many times.

I have a belt from here and it's still going strong 12 years on. Have bought several belts here for myself family and friends, will keep going back. This isn't fast fashion, this is a belt that'll work out cheaper in the long run than any other you've bought.

Ordered a couple of belts a few weeks ago. A couple of days later I received an SMS letting me know they were ready and being sent out that day. When I opened the package, I almost lost my mind when I saw how beautiful the dark tan colour was (the medium tan was alright as well). Will definitely be ordering from Pete again - high quality, great experience.

Travelled across town to look for a belt from these guys and the had a sign saying back in 2 hours. Waste of a trip. Pity, it looked like a good store.

Great quality items, my partners' belt is still looking great after 5 months and I'm so happy with my custom bag! The prices were less than what I'd excepted and definitely cheaper than in a brand did. Very friendly staff, were happy to listen to what I wanted and completed the job exactly as described.
