Star Health Group reviews
36Went there for a little bit after I got out of the pysch ward, every time I went there I was surrounded by welfare ferals and spoken down to by the arrogant receptionist, fortunately I went back to work full time and no longer have to deal with medical people who believe in kissing the backside of bludgers and freeloaders.
Really appreciate Dr. Erin Linley for her genuine care and kindness. I feel really lucky to have such an amazing GP that I can trust. Everyone at the reception is always super kind even when things get quite hectic. Thank you
Thank you Cathy from the intake team! She was so helpful and followed up my case and made the process so fast. I was really struggling and she understood timing was important so went out of her way to help. She was also very kind and reassuring on the phone. Thank you Cathy!
Worst medical practice. Avoid. Admin staff are incompetent with no regard for customer/patient service. Some of the doctors are ok, but they constantly change. There was one I liked that I had but she moved to another practice in Beaumaris.
This time I made a Telehealth appointment, waited about a week for the appointment, got an sms to confirm, which I replied yes. 1 hour and 45 minutes after my appointment time I rang the practice to find out when I was getting the call. I then get told that as it was over a year since my last appointment that I needed to be there in person. But they never informed me.
No apology or anything. I said as I was only 5 minutes away, I could come, but to, d they were booked out and I needed to reschedule for another time.
Disgusting. All this for repeat prescriptions. Moved to another practice. These people don’t respect your time, needs or conditions. Again, disgusting practice.
Share that you are holistic and pressure people to take your way or the highway! Very unhappy!
On 19/9/22 I handed over my referral appointmemt fee to S. Melb. Star Health Dental; the pleasant dentist assured me that they would refer me to the Dental Hospital - and then they did nothing. Four months and several enquiry phone calls later I finally found out from the Dental Hospital that S. Melb, apart from doing absolutely nothing for a long time, had given me ditsy ignorant advice regarding referral requirements and had not even written what the referral was for on the referral form they finally felt like sending to the DH. As at 25/1/23 they still haven't responded to the DH's request for clarification.
(Referal finally sent 30/1/23.)
The lack of support from Corporate focussed Board is staggering. They don’t support their GP’s or Healthcare staff. The rate of GP’s being overburdened and leaving is at crisis. Merging with 2 other supposed community health care service isn’t helping any local people who need care, it’s disappointing to see Professionals Struggling and Leaving the service due to lack of support. The greatest assets are the Staff. No longer taking memberships means a giant leap away from community, towards corporate values which don’t align with the needs of the Community or Staff. Sad to see another service destroyed after they upgraded the building with taxpayers funds (government grant) rumours are they want to sell and move further away from accessible public transport, corporate thinking for a Community Health Service. The Community is Mourning for the Loss of our great Professional Health Workers.
I go to south Melbourne Star health, all the people who work here genuinely try to make the world a better place, they deal with people like myself (I am the first to admit I am not always a ray of sunshine) they are hard working, empathetic, smart, patient. The reception teams are amazing at how they organise appointments etc, seem to be able to do a million things at once. (I imagine they are like the Indian goddess with all those arms), all the people who work here are treasures. I don't often speak out, it's just -thank you to everyone for not giving up on me, that's the coolest gift anyones given me.
Really good doctors however I had an absolutely awful time during pregnancy where I could not see a GP for most of my pregnancy and had very little empathy from the receptionists. Understand there is a Victoria wide GP shortage but was then again horrified that my newborn would also not be welcome as a new patient. No support during or after pregnancy by either hospital or community health centre is absolutely horrific.
In a fully equipped medical office, after 30min of waiting while being the first person in line for pathology, the four staff members behind the counter couldn’t work out how to print a page between them. I left in amazement
There are always police outside the premises due to the incidents they get on a daily basis
It's dirty and feels very unsafe
If you’re a resident of South Melbourne and are looking for a G. P that bulk bills patients this is the one. There’s very poor access to G. Ps in this area that bulk bill considering how densely populated it is. The need to book online and we’ll ahead of time is not really optional anymore it’s essential if you want an appointment. Always very difficult to get an appointment otherwise anywhere around this area. St kilda Superclinic is the only other one I know and so sometimes I travel there. I never had this problem any other suburb of Melbourne I have lived. Just South Melbourne. The GPS are excellent here and very thorough however when you finally do manage to get an appointment you’re often still waiting a very long time in the waiting room.
If you don't want a Doctor to lie to you by pushing their Holistic approach on you, then don't see Belinda McDonald. She lied to me, pushed me off pain medication and anxiety medications i had been on for decades after promising me she wouldnt do that and refused to keep her promise. The end result, thanks to the NDIS, I was given mental health immediately with a Psychiatric Doctor who was horrified because I was now suicidal. It is extremely disgusting to have a doct push THEIR beliefs on you. I am about the 10th client who has left because of her lies! Avoid like a Covid plague. Shameful.
I can’t complain about the customer service because there isn’t any. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
The reception team at this clinic leave much to be desired. It is utterly disappointing because the dental clinical team at this clinic are Beyond Fantastic. It’s such a shame that when you first approach this business, the first thing you are greeted to are the reception team because they are the ones that turn away the customer
I am very disappointed by my experience with Star Health Dental, South Melbourne. My Peridontal appointment was cancelled and I was told that someone would call me back to reschedule. I patiently waited in good faith, but no one ever did. I finally called in desperation, attended an appointment, and was told by the dentist that my condition had substantially deteriorated. I almost cried. This is pure negligence on behalf of reception staff. Such neglect is unacceptable when it comes to people's health.
I have attended Star Health as a Support Worker accompanying disadvantaged and vulnerable clients and have been hugely impressed with the service provided. The Reception staff at the Prahran clinic in particular are friendly, polite and helpful. At South Melbourne Dr Belinda McDonald does a wonderful job understanding and building relationships with reluctant patients. And a stand out is Nurse Sally who has gone so far above and beyond her duties: staying back at the end of her working day as an accommodation to a client’s special needs; taking time to reassure and explain, with enormous kindness, patience, and humour. Sally is an amazing asset to Star Health and I’m so grateful that my clients have the very good fortune to have her be a part of their Heath Care team.
The GP clinic is top notch. The dental clinic staff are great. The lack of appointments is terrible. I had a huge filling fall out and I can’t get an emergency appointment for over 1 month yes I’m in constant pain. Maybe star health needs a bigger voice to get more funding. Otherwise I’ve always had great service from the staff.
I can not rate this clinic or these doctors highly enough. I have been going there for nearly two years and Dr Bellili is one of the best doctors I've seen in over 50 years of medical appointments. She is caring, compassionate and always professional. All of the receptionists from the front desk to the dental team are always welcoming and can not do enough to help you. Thank you to everyone at Star Health!
Exceptionally caring doctors, very empathetic and they treat you as a person. Be wary of a lot of the negative reviews, this practice has doctors who try to help people who are going though some.things, drug issues, homelessness, domestic violence etc so therefore there is a bit of a bias in the reviews by people who were told things they probably don't want to or aren't ready to hear.
I am pretty shocked at the amount of negative comments in here. Our family have seen our GP, Dr. Claire Denness for the past 5-6 years. She is a really great doctor who listens to your concerns and in general, has such a great bedside manner. Never had a problem with the reception whatsoever.
