We have been so happy with how seamless our son’s transition to primary school has been, thanks to the wonderful and dedicated staff at St Joey’s – always ensuring the communication is clear and consistent and where everyone knows your name! The small community feel means we always feel heard, our son truly feels seen and you can just tell by observing the playground that all the children have a genuine love of the school and special relationship with their teachers and Principal, Mary (who always has a smile on her face and always has time for a chat!) Our son is thriving much quicker than we had anticipated and loves learning. We are thrilled we chose St Joeys for his primary education and would recommend it to anyone wanting a friendly, community minded school where both children and their parents are incredibly valued.

We are so happy with St Joseph’s school for our son in prep. The teaching is exemplary and most importantly they genuinely care for the kids welfare. We love St Joey’s!

I’m so glad I have sent my son to this school. Small class sizes, the teachers and staff are wonderful and caring. I love the community feel of the school.

We’ve been surprised and delighted how quickly Patrick has transitioned to the primary school environment and it’s due to the amazing team at St Joseph’s. As expected, it has been a little bumpy but they take time to work through issues with him in such a positive way, communicating with us, and Patrick learns to manage day to day problems independently while feeling supported. This nurturing environment has accelerated his learning and maturity, which is particularly noticeable in his interactions with his younger brother. He loves school, which is not something we expected this early in his journey.

We feel like we are part of a supportive family with Patrick’s best interests at the forefront and this is truly unique in a big city like Melbourne.

Miss Tess, Miss Olivia and Miss Bella are sweet, kind and great teachers. They always make contact with me on a weekly basis to let me know how my children are going at School. (I also think, if I needed to make daily contact with them they would be happy to talk to me).

During lockdown, Miss Tess and Miss Bella amazed me with their ability to stay focused and provide real-time teaching lessons online everyday. Not just one a day but sometimes 5! No prerecorded 5 minute snippets but 50 minute classes that were fun, with guided instruction, help all the way through and whole class sharing at the end.

The school environment is less crowded then most, the principal is always ready to take your call and Carmel answers all your questions with ease to help you become super organised.

Wow, what a brilliant school, the fantastic community feel, and the outstanding staff. My son's experience has been nothing exceptional and beyond expectations. I cannot recommend this school enough. Kids' education is paramount and tailored to each student. The culture, behaviour, and values are evident because of the additional resources provided by a smaller and privately run school.

My wife and I were looking for a long time for a school that would not only give our son a good education but also help us instil values in our son that make him a good boy. Today I am very happy to have chosen the primary school St. Joseph Northcote as our ally for his formation. This is a small school with a warm community and an immense love for kids. All the school staff is so friendly and radiate the happiness that a parent wants to see in his son.

A great school that has a small community feel. With so many large schools located in the area St Joeys offers something different and special. You feel like everyone knows each other and the kids are really happy. My son started here in grade 1 after moving from another school and all the kids and teachers made him feel welcome. The teaching staff are great and all led by a great duo with Mary, the principal and Fiona, the vice principal. Their approach to learning is great. My daughter learnt to read in prep as they focus on heart words and phonetics. For a small school there are lots of activities on offer, like tennis, chess club, performing arts and STEM classes. I genuinely feel lucky my kids go to this wonderful school. Highly recommended

After touring some of the larger public schools in our area there was no doubt that St Joseph’s was the right fit for our son when we stepped foot in it. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and reassured. The school, the teachers, the systems, the extracurricular activities have made the transition into prep for our son seamless. It is a great community and I’m so happy we elected to send our son to a smaller and more ‘personal’ school. He is thriving!

Choosing st Joseph’s primary school for our two children was undoubtedly the best decision my partner and I made. We have been consistently happy with all their teachers, not to mention Mary the principle and Andrea the vice principal who both exude a warmth and familiarity that can only leave you feeling like you’ve brought your child into the St Joseph’s ‘family’. Mary, the fabulous principal knows each child not just by name but by personality. St Joseph’s offers a wide-open door policy and their willingness to talk through any concerns is comforting and reassuring. At st Joseph’s they have an innovative attitude towards teaching and are quick to adopt current learning methods. Your child will never be left behind, and your questions will never be left unanswered. My children have formed strong friendships with fellow pupils as have I with parents; being part of a small school community means you will never feel lost or lonely. I can’t recommend St Joseph’s enough as an invaluable start to your child’s education.

I really love this school, i'll be sad to leave it. Education is high, and challenging in a good way. Students are welcoming and kind, they make you feel like you've been apart of the community for years. The parish is a nice and small community, i'd recommend you check it out and go to the Sunday mass. The chess club and tennis lessons are great assets of the school as well.

The first time I saw St Joseph's Primary School, Northcote, I knew this was where I wanted to send my kids.
It reminds me of a small country school, it even has a feel of Harry Potter about it.
That's what I think anyway.

Now I would like to introduce you to the teacher's who I got to know through the years while teaching my kids.

I will start with the principal of the school, MARY KEARNEY who is fairly new to the school, Mary has already made many positive changes, such as the uniforms, the new uniforms look very smart and all mother's would agree they are much easier to wash. Spending less time in the laundry can only be a good thing.
Also introducing new teaching methods to keep up with the times and technology. Introducing more activities, have educational trips away at camp, inter school sports, chess, tennis, music, religion and more and just basically trying to give the students a well rounded future.
The class starts with a prayer which is a nice comfy way for the students to start the day.

Mrs ANDREA (Vice principal) very warm and easy to talk to, especially when tackling a problem.

CARMEL (Stylish Office Girl) calm, cool and collected, there isn't anything Carmel doesn't know.

The very pretty MRS ASHLYN is a fantastic all round teacher, students warm up to her straight away.

MRS AUDREY (teacher's aide) knows how to reach students to better understand their work when finding difficulties.

MR RYDER, MR ZAMMIT, MRS LAUREN are just a few fantastic teacher's at the school.

The students are taught to be respectful and caring towards others. Resilient and try their best with everything they do and are rewarded when they do something good.
The school also cares for working parents offering BEFORE CARE and AFTER CARE for your peace of mind.

Yes, I'm very happy with this school, a small school but has a lot to offer. ️
