Spoonbill Restaurant and Bar reviews
38We had the most amazing experience last night for dinner, the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and we felt so welcome. The food tasted delicious and it could not be faulted and we didn't have to wait too long for our food, we would highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a meal and a drink.
Just had a wonderful evening celebrating our wedding anniversary. Tao and his team did an exceptional job. The food was magnificent. Thanks for a lovely evening.
I don’t know what’s with the reviews but this is my first time trying this place and the food is absolutely amazing. The beef cheek is to die for! And the duck pasta yum! And the truffle arancini! Wow just wow it’s perfect with the level of crisp and flavour! I would absolutely come again!
My partner and I we had a dinner at spoonbill, this is not our first time here, the food was very nice and the services impeccable services, thank you
Nice meal on a quiet Tuesday. Likely much more atmosphere on a weekend. 3x tasting plates and a nice red between us. Yym
We were staying at the Olsen and had some cocktails here, and breakfast in the morning.
Cocktails were good. The lychee martini was wonderful, but the old fashioned was a bit watered down.
Food is pretty good as well. Limited vegan and vego options however.
Good location for a decent meal. Attached to Olsen Hotel. Come give it a go. Something for everyone.
Ordered today take away latte and fresh juice. Staff (big girl with blond hair) was not friendly, she was doing her job like a big favor. I asked to make juice with orange, apple and celery but she also added carrot and lots of ice. She puts ice in the juice so she doesn't have to use a lot of vegetables/fruits when making juice. Also, she was touching food without gloves. Very unpleasant experience. People like her shouldn’t work in the restaurants.
Staff mainly friendly, good location, personally found it more like a VERY expensive café, the steak i had was terrible, fat, tough, sauce nice and presentation too but had better for £9 in UK Wetherspoons tbh - very disappointing.
Great place to relax and watch the world go by. Amazing location and nice environment. It’s attached to the Olsen hotel so lots of travellers there.
My only issue was coffee was a bit weak and a small juice smoothly $12 is a bit high! I am use to cafe smoothies being quite late and filling.
But everything else was good.
Staple breakfast menu. Everyone at the table commented the food was good but overpriced. Service friendly but not the extras - “would you like another coffee”
Melbourne has so many great restaurants with great service & great food. This was not one of them. We walked in no one acknowledged or greeted us. After trying to get some eye contact we found someone who seated us. Several tables came in after us and they were served and assisted prior to us. After about twenty minutes we asked someone to take our drink order and it was like it was a hassle for them to serve or assist people. We ordered lamb cutlets which were nice and the paella. The paella was a very small serve and no extra plate was given to put the mussel or pippie shells. It was hugely over priced for the paella. No one bought us water we had to ask several times. We ordered bread and it took forever to arrive. We will never go back and I would not recommend. The Olsen is a nice hotel it's a pity that this is the restaurant attached to it.
If you are interested in Australian culture you must visit. Housed on the ground floor of the Olsen Hotel - named for the Australian abstract artist John Olsen with numerous paintings and a frog sculpture - this restaurant does not disappoint. Last night I had eye fillet, which was cooked perfectly to my liking (no pink) and my wife had lamb cutlets cooked to her liking (pink). We were seated at the Chapel St window and were treated to a parade of local wildlife that kept us entertained. 3yrs ago: We arrived before dinner service so we ordered two starters and two sides and were both impressed and satisfied. The zucchini fritters were huge balls and came in triplets. The chorizo was a little chewy but came with two beautiful serves of different field mushrooms and a slab of saganaki. On the side we had brocollini in tom yum soup and baked sweet potatoes slices in cauliflower sauce with chestnuts. Damn - wish I had taken photos. All delicious and very filling.
Absolutely delightful! James the venue manager is an absolute professional! The food exquisite and the atmosphere perfect for a stylish night in south Yarra. The seafood paella is full of the best seafood - plenty of it! You can’t go wrong here if James is on!
Great location. Not very efficient wait staff. Wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this place. Weird vibes overall.
Great spot, brilliant cocktails and next level service! Yummy bar food too if just in for drinks like we were!
OMG was an amazing dining experience. Every aspect of our meal and the service was exceptional James and his staff are friendly and attentive and our food was to die for! I dont usually like pork but it looked so good I tried a mouthful of my husbands and it was amazing! The dessert Sundae and Panacotta is a must.together!
This restaurant is next to a hotel. The inside has an elegant feel to it with abit of prestige. There were some tables next to the window with a street view, which we were seated next to so it was a pleasant dining experience. Had lunch here and it was quite a good. We order a starter and one main each and they were all good. Service was pretty good too, nothing untoward. Would consider going here again if I'm nearby.
Nice place, nice food, nice staff working, very friendly, very sweet.it is missing something though.
I attended the Spoonbill Restaurant last Saturday evening for a Hen's party. They accommodated us so well, even providing a private area for us to sit in. Our host was extremely lovely and she had phenomenal customer service skills. I didn't catch her name, but she definitely can't be missed with her beautiful bright red hair! Thanks again for the lovely service! We'll definitely be back, especially to get that Calamari again:)
